LEWIS HAMILTON - final! (Patreon)

Hi gamers,

This is my final version of my lewis hamilton drawing ugh I am so happy with how it turned out. The last few times I've been rendering people realistically I get too crazy with it and clean it too much. This one is excellently sketchy and shapely.

I've included up there a photo of the process for your intrigue, but I don't have much to say about the technicalities of it all. I will note some things that went through my head as I drew it, though.

First off, I wanted to make all the colors quite saturated. I didn't really pay attention to the reference in that sense. I also wanted to capture all the different colors of and reflecting on his skin, the light on his nose is blue, his forehead is pink, ears are red, and his cheeks are more yellow, and there's greenish tones on his chin. There's also blue highlights in his hair!

Also, I didn't care too much about the lighting being super accurate, I used like two references and mashed them together. But its typically lighter around the edges of his face and darker toward the middle (ear).

I also paid extra attention to leave an area alone after it was good enough. I hardly touch his eyes compared to other areas. And once the lighting and colors in places did what I wanted them too, I didn't bother to blend them, just clean up messy areas and keep borders pretty sharp. I like that his further away eyelashes and eyebrow are very chunky and low contrast, its like they're in the sunlight. I just am very happy with it! Perhaps my favorite f1 portrait besides senna and its perfect because they're of the two goats.

A last side note, I flipped the reference to have him facing this direction (to match my others) but then I had to find reference of his tattoos on the other side of his neck and it was much harder than finding ones on the other side... interesting! I also couldn't decide if I wanted him swagged out like with his glasses and jewelry because that's so true. But I'm not really interested in drawing shiny things so we resorted to his normal face.
