Hi patrons!

This is the final version of my newest drar of a woman entangled in arms and not really pleased about it. I wanted a bunch of tangley items around her and even her tattoos are tangley. Is it my favorite thing I ever drew? No but it is very interesting...

It all started with this sketch I found a hundred million years ago and decided to bring to fruition. I do not have a photo of it but it was originally a man and was changed to be a girl. Here is my next development of said sketch:

Frankly it pains me to show you this because she was much more entangled by the blue than she is now. It was giving me trouble.. Something about how the flat color interacted with the dark and light parts of her wasn't working and perhaps I phoned it in. Actually that is making me sad maybe I do something about that after I publish this.

Anyways, this girl was done without reference so I then had to use a reference so she looked less impossible, even though this is sorta fun.

Ok this is it after, and then you can see I altered the spindlies to work with this new form and it isn't done very well and that may have contributed to what followed (as discussed prior.) I was just too excited to get going maybe. I was also going to completely cover her face with hair like this but I didn't. What was I thinking...

Then, I do not have many photos of the process of rendering her, but I carved out her silhouette and drew on clipping masks on top of that. It was very basic, I used one skin tone and a few shades darker for general rotundness of forms, and then made one multiply layer for shadows and one overlay layer for highlights. I wanted her face to be in shadow.. I also added some redder tones in various places.

Later, on top I draw some tattoos in a reddish color and used color burn(?) blending mode.

The shoulder area is sorta insane but you would not see it anyways idk we press on.

Then I added all the flourishments, which I kept very rough as to contrast them with her. This was sorta giving mr.Aryz vibes imo.

There's a section of the red arms/hands that is in front of her and one that is behind (near her head and behind hair), and I kept the colors different and the edges harsh just for interest.. And then I added a halftone effect only to the front section. This makes it a bit glitchier I guess!

Then in procreate, I added this abstracted dentist bathroom-esque colors for the background.

And also added the blue lines and added some blur to them. And made her eyes blue.

That's it!

hahaha thank you so much! I think I’d be interested as well to know more about what artists aren’t super happy about in a piece because I reckon I wouldn’t even think twice about it..
