Hello good patrons!!! I am currently on VACATION!!! I am in Los Angeles stayin with family and sitting in pools and going to Disnart Land. I may be a bit gone until the 14th! But I desperately wanted to post this drawing so I am doing that right now after I have just showered post-pooling.

I told everyone on Instagram that I started this drawing in 2019 but that was so unbelievably true. I thought it was true but it was not. Idk where I pulled that date out of but it was out of fiction. I actually started it in April 2021 haha……. Only a year ago. What was I thinking. It is sort of embarrassing. My art in 2019 was cowboys only I should’ve known.

Anways, I really liked the composition of the sketch (second photo), but perhaps it was just a bit too daunting a task or I was very lazy. I rediscovered it a few weeks ago and started working on it and frankly it was very hard! I forgot how to draw but this was a great way to get me back in gear. The girls face gave me great trouble. It was too….boring. Girls face wow very original, me. And I not only struggled with the subject matter but rendering her face as well! I think I was just a bit out of practice. And I don‘t often render fully fleshed out faces off the dome so that was challenging too. But I did it!

And then I decided to draw her little vignette as a reflection in broken glass. I have never ever drawn broken glass before and I don’t understand transparency and also I refused to learn anything new in the sense of studying and practicing so I just went for it. It certainly isn’t perfect but I love it. Taika Waititi says he never prepares or researches his roles like H*tler or Blackbeard and we love him so I am channeling that same energy. I kind of think it looks like peeling or cracking plaster (minus the “reflections”) so that is very neat as well.

The rest was pretty standard, except the building because I never draw buildings. It was standard but it all took a lot of time. I was very careful to take my time and not rush anything but also not push myself to make everything perfect. I also struggled with the background colors as you can see and decided that the subjects in the vignettes were colorful enough but not harmonious enough. So the background had to be neutral to bring it all together. I really really looooooove this thing. Did not perform well on ig but who cares. I love it. And the good people seem to like it too!
