MEET THE ARTIST 2023!!! (Patreon)
Content
I have created my meet the artist 2023.... SIX years in the making (my 6th one.) It confuses me to make a meet the artist at the beginning of the year when in reality it is sort of a previous year summary. Like this is my 2023 meet the artist but it shows my state as an accumulation of the year prior. So this should be like a 2022 meet the artist. And then December 2023 I would be making my 2023 meet the artist. You know what I mean. Except it matters to nobody except myself because only I truly get them and find them useful in terms of reflection.
Anyways. Perhaps I will elaborate more on this for you all and talk about the art direction a bit. I wanted to draw OH--- I started a different version of this but I changed it. Look!
I was not vibing with the angle you cannot see enough of my outfit and I could not decide on one single outfit.... And as a result the other one was born. I really like the separate sections of the final one.... but they have sorta similar vibes. This old one was epic too though hmm maybe I will remember it next year.
It is very hard to draw a car. The fronts of my cars look like the back. They aren't long enough, and I knew that but I didn't do anything about it. I don't remember anything from this year. I got briefly sucked back into Minecraft in the first half of the year... I did a lot of nothing.... so much nothing until the second half of the year. Then I went camping and went to southern California with Chloe, bought a car for it, moved in with my bestie Ayler.... that is where I am now. So much has gone on.. I am so busy... I'm slaying...
Drank a record-setting amount of coffee and tea probably. Ate so many little treats. Bought so many poscas and drew so many tiny originals for you all. SO MANY STICKERS. I learned to solve a rubix cube and a 4x4 wow!! Graduated too wow forgot!!
I did not want to put a lot of energy into drawing this I wanted it to be pretty flat and lineart based!!! Not much to say about that really! I sketched out the whole thing (I have included a photo of my clothing sketches) and then basically "inked" on top in a new layer, masked out the background, and colored behind it all! I did color the lineart though which is a semi new thing I have done. Usually I will make the lineart one color and change the blending mode but I find that unless the coloring beneath is super neat, the different colors around the lineart make it look a bit messy when the lineart is semi transparent or reacting to the colors behind it ya know? Perhaps too difficult to explain.... I just have more control this way....
Hope you guys have an excellent new year!!!
