The Last of Us Stabby - Final and Progress (Patreon)

Hello sweet, patient and kind patrons who are so selfless and supportive, how are you?

This is a post about my newest drawing based on The Last of Us! When I saw that scene of Ellie stab that zombo, nothing happened in my head except, “hmm, that didn’t happen in the game.” But then later I was like I want to draw person with fungus comin out their head and then I recalled this moment in the show and thus, this drawing was born.  Took me forEVER. It is based on a sketch I did in me sketchbook (shocker)

and I didn’t use reference until much later in the drawing so I was obviously struggling. It is a more “realistic” face and I can’t just conjure what shadows go where and all that nonsense. So I struggled. It’s also a bizarre angle and ALSO the colors were really effing me up. They were much more yellowy while I was drawing it and I simply hated it and then like the fungus was orangey pinky and the girl was orangey and it was TOO ORANGE. Sickening! So I added some adjustment layers and all this nonsense and made the zombo more purpley blue. ALSO- the low contrast was ALSO confusing me. But ultimately it turned out well! And then ALSO - the girls face is much more cartoonish/not realistic and I was like is this way too much of a stylistic contrast to the zombo. But it’s fine and its good. And then ALSO I didn’t know how to draw a dang fist! But then I took a picture of my hand and then boom I had the perfect reference. Funny how it all works out, isn’t it? Hilarious, even!

But I love my lighting success on this drawing I never ever do anything with lighting!!

The instagram gods are not on my side though this tanked like nothing ever tanked before but in my heart it doesn’t matter.
