Hello sweet patrons!

Here are some up close and personal images of my newest drawings which is a redraw of this 2019 drawing:

which is a favorite of mine. I meant to make it colored but I find it difficult these days to color WITH lineart. It just looks muddy.... but I am sure I can do it. I think I have to make the lineart more brown as it is in this image.  Comic book artists do it so can I. I also thought to make it lineartless (see image 3) but that also was too much for my soul atm. So for now, it is this pretty BW version.

I like it!!! Don't get me wrong. Also, have you ever wondered how people make their lineart...glow?? I discovered that a good while ago but never really did anything with it because I didn't really ever draw with lineart. But essentially you duplicate (or triple??) the lineart layer. The bottom you make blue or green and then add a bit of gaussian blur so it excretes out. Then another black lineart on top you do a bit of blur on that too. Then thats it. I have the original clean lineart on top of all of that for posterity. Then bam there you have it. Idk if you can even tell, its subtle.

As for the process itself, I used the original as a sort of sketch base. But then I looked up more real cowboy imagery to ensure my proportions (of both human and horse) are correct (they were bad). And for some hat reference. Then after I solidify that I look up (lightly) some gun holder and saddle refs just to see what's going on. Can't be too embarrassed by my lack of knowledge in the saddle department. What can I say???

it is my favorite version!! but the blue reminds me of chinese porcelain so i like it too. but perhaps less fitting than the old timey sepia. but maybe it could be like a cyanotype moment… and that has just given me a great idea

Ooo some of the students at the uni I work at are working on cyanotypes right now and I've been loving their works, it absolutely reminds me of chinese porcelain
