Hello everyone!

Here is my big final HQ photo of my most recent drawing which I lovingly refer to as "honse." It pictures a person on a horse that is decked out and also features some feshes. I really love how this one turned out despite me disliking how it was going for a majority of the time. I also have a delectable wallpaper for you at the end as well. Here we go!

It all started out with me scrolling through my images on my phone and seeing the references of horses I had for one of my webslinger drawings, the sketch of which you can see below. Yes, it is a horse, but it is not ENOUGH horse, in my opinion, and thus my horse-drawing thirst was not yet quenched.

Following this realization, I set time for myself to draw a new horse just for me. I wanted the horse to have lots of tendrils connected to and flowing from it. Here is the sketch that I produced in my favorite app, the notes app. As you can see below, the horse is much too small. I did not let this get to me, and I made it my utmost priority to tend to that when I imported the sketch into Adobe Fresco, my beloved drawing application.

Next, I created this beautifully clean final sketch. Something about me is that I will draw a drawing through many drafts. Here is the final perfect sketch below. I find it very helpful these days to make the silhouette of my sketch perfect. I will draw a sketch with a basic thin brush and then block in the silhouette behind it, and then I will make the lineart layer a clipping mask on top of the silhouette. Look how clean it is.

This ensures that you don't get confused later on.. It also makes it clear if everything is gonna work out in the end.

Next, I finalized the lineart. I am in a lineart phase right now. This drawing was very emotionally inspired by this old Orville Peck drawing from 2020 or so... Physically, my new drawing is superior. But this certainly has an undefeatable vibe.

Lineart:

Ah I love it so much... I colored it quite simply, I wanted it quite colorful. It is all 2D flat colors, so not much to say about that. However, I did make the executive decision to also color the lineart. It made the lineart less harsh, which I think was necessary, esp since I planned on doing a background that would have no lineart. It simply would've been too harsh, too dark. And I find black lineart to be desaturating for a full piece (for my style). Here is a photo of the colored lineart by itself. It is mostly just a darker and saturated version of the color beneath it.

At this point, inspired by my old drawing, I says to myself "hm, I want to put this lovely horse in a location. And so I did. I saw a tiktok of a beautiful Miyazaki-esque grassy hill with clouds and put this horse in a darker narstier version. NOT a fan of it. I don' think I had the emotional capacity to spend time convincingly placing them in realistic grass.

It was fine, but personally it was horrible and I hated it. It was not enough to satiate me. This was temporarily the final version, yuck! I went to bed and said I'll worry about that in the morning. And morning, I did. I said, "why must it be earthen in nature, why not cosmic?" So perhaps semi contradict-orially, I put the subjects ON earth, but in the cosmos, where there are still clouds. A fantastical landscape, you may say. Here, I'll repost the final down here for you.

I pushed the ropes of the fishies back behind the clouds to better frame and declutter the main subjects. The colors of earth were much more harmonious with my characters. It was just very swell. The final nail in the coffin of perfection was my idea to put the horse's shadow on the earth. I rounded it to give the suggestion of, well a sphere. I love it love it. Excellent work!!!

Alternative versions also pictured above are backgroundless and simple. I just like a minimal work.
