I'm a little late to the party, but I can confirm that actually Burglar X hit the arcades in some form: I live in Italy and in the late '90 I was having some holidays in a camping where there were few cabinets and a flipper. One of these were Burglar X for sure, I can't remember exactly, probably it was a multi-game cabinet but I remember playing at it a few times.

"Our obsessive need to dive into very minor aspects of a game with extensive detail and no reason to do it." The reason is because it's interesting. It's the stuff that makes a bad game actually bad, and it's what makes your JBG content so good. Also that you're legitimately funny when you do it.

Yes! I don't know how familiar the devs were with sci-fi but they totally could've gotten that from Judge Dredd.
