Behind the scenes at Rerez we’ve been coming up with a new podcast series and it’s finally ready to share with you all. It’s called Next Game. What we have for you is what we’re calling Episode Zero. It’s an episode we produced as a proof of concept and won’t be available on the channel once the series goes live. But we wanted to share it with our Patrons to give you a sneak peek and to hear any feedback you may have.

Next Game will be uploaded on a separate channel from our main Rerez content. Namely, it will be occupying the current Rerez Shorts channel, formerly Hot Take. But it will also have a full presence on audio podcast platforms. So you can watch or listen as you please.

Want to know more about this new series? All will be revealed in this early episode of Next Game!

I'm not into shooting games that much so I would go with Shane's idea more like an adventure game 😁 good podcast can't wait for more !

I like both ideas though these back of the boxes are way to long hahaha. Adam's game. A duck hunt original. THE QUACKENING - 24 levels of on-rail duck mayhem in a duck pandemic of a far away future. - 3 generals of the foulest of the water fowls need to be dishonorable discharged with your trusty zapper, dog and hoverboard shoot, call and bamboozle the ducks of tomorrow use the carnage of your enemy to destroy themselves in crazy combos of fire, ice and water and more. Find puzzles alternate endings and secrets to hopefully be the lingering last hope for humanity. Shane's game Duck Hunt: the greenspace in a the world sits a space of wonder and whimsy the greenspace. your proud inhertince of your mysterious late grandfather. grab your stun rifle the ZAPPER-TAPPER and your trusty bloodhound and enjoy its wonderland of: - 6 biomes - stunning views - magical ducks - and the company of old friends as you hunt solo or with friends and participate in tournaments and slowly uncover the magic of this land and the story of your grandfather coming in 20XX thats the mockup of the back of the boxes or i may have gone to far in made movie posters oops great episode though.

I like the idea of this podcast. But I think there is some room for improvement. I would really like if you would make a real pitch where you want to sell your idea to a fictive investor instead of reading out the somewhat oversized PR text of the back of the package. You could even think about having a role-play that one is doing the pitch and the other is asking (stupid or non-stupid) questions about this idea. You may even not give the other your idea beforehand... the ad-lib questions and answers would be the icing of the cake.

I'm worried these might become too much work and an extra source of stress. After a few episodes of this you might start feeling burned out on trying to pitch concepts that will feel fresh and distinct from the last, especially at this length. But if you're this far, you've probably taken that into account. As for format suggestions, you almost need a 3rd person to "sell" these to. Either as a regular, or maybe a different guest each time to mix it up. But failing that, you could make a Patreon poll, so if these episodes go public people feel that FOMO of not getting to vote, and then maybe start the next episode recapping the results of the last vote and a few key bits of feedback. Whether or not you "keep score" would be up to you. (Maybe block off a "season", and whoever loses that "season" has to do an awful gaming challenge?)

I like the concept very much, and I particularly like the way it accommodates both your own styles and the particular ways you bounce off each other (the 'ice ducks = penguins' bit was gold). But I also agree with some others here, the concept needs more structure. Especially at the beginning, describing the game itself could be much tighter. It's also true that you seem to be churning out new show concepts faster than episodes of the existing shows, lately. :) Maybe do a quick self-check and make sure it's all doable before committing?

Thanks everyone, we're really appreciating all your comments!

Shorter back of the box sections was something we discussed internally as well. This is already in the cards for the next episode. :)

Rerez

We're going to incorporate a last part of the podcast that isn't in this episode. That will have the pitch being heard by someone else. :)

Rerez

This episode was only showing the pitch and discussion part, it's missing the ending that all future episodes will have. That will have the 'selling it to someone' section in it!

One of the reasons we want to do this show is because our existing show ideas take a long time to produce. Some of our team has downtime between them, so this is what they would work on while the next episodes get wrapped. I promise you this will not change the quality or releases of our other shows.

Ice Duck = Penguin, so therefore Dark Duck = Bat, Light Duck = Dove, Fire Duck = Phoenix, Water Duck = Seagull, and Lightning Duck = Drake. Pure genius!!!

I've tried to go get through this a couple times in the past couple weeks, but I can't. The pace is not strong. We're a ways in and still generally discussing the attributes of Duck Hunt...? I don't know why I should care. So I finally skipped forwards this time and I realize I don't have much interest in anything here. It's a very long pitch meeting for a game that will never exist. I'm sure there's an audience for this, but I don't think this will draw enough to make it worth your effort on YouTube. At best, you're a long ways away from a product. Maybe there's a 10 minute format that works, but people usually come to your channel to here content about real things, this feels like the video game development version of fan theories. Even knowing it is a pilot, it doesn't measure us to your usual quality. I'm sure you did this because it means something to you, but as it is it's not there.

Shane, your game sounds amazing and it could and should be a real Nintendo game. Adam, you're insane. And I love that and your idea, I want to play that wacky shooter right now! Both your ideas are amazing! I really like this format
