Goodbye Dimple, it was nice knowing ya :(

Jordan Joestar ☆

Dimple's final sacrifice against the Divine Tree was truly Absolute Cinema! Every single attack during the battle felt super visceral, and him putting boots to ass against that many enemies was incredible, even though he definitely knew that he wouldn't make it out near the end! 🥦😢

Ya'll have now gotten your very first instance of Japanese media managing to make me - I mean us - sad over the most fuckass things. Like bro wdym we over here mourning a little mf named "Dimple" who looks like this:

57:43 "you're supposed to be light" What if I told you we haven't reached the darkest depths of either yet?

Apollo

So much for "screw you Dimple! You won't be on our top this season" 😁

This episode just goes to show that the author (ONE) is a master manipulator of emotions. I remember when I first read the manga, I kept thinking, Just erase him Mob! He is never going to change and you already gave him way too many chances! I was just so angry and done with Dimple but then we were shown Dimples perspective and then him giving it his all to protect Mob, that I actually regretted how angry I got with him. I've watched this anime like 6 times already but this episode still hits hard 😭

Forerunner

I've seen this a couple of times now, and I still get choked up. Dimple is a ride or die homie.

2026-10-21 08:00 Nah but as much as I like to do this bit, real talk, you're gonna be real hard pressed to find a show that gets pushed to ya by the community that "doesn't" have some dark undertones to some degree. Even the more popular slice of life shows have a way of getting fucked up. Tbh, the ones that don't probably aren't deemed very good reaction vid material lol

And here we go! The final arc begins soon

It's quite the feast this week, with CSM e9 on Tues, the finale of Vox Machina on Friday... and the conclusion of the Divine Tree arc for MP100. I love how we suspect the culprit of the Cult to be Dimple, and Mob sees right through him from the start and calls him out early on. E5 just builds so well, setting up Dimple's treachery as well as Mob's building frustration, the tension and power building to the episode's final moments, leaving us feeling like there's no way for Dimple to come back from this, a big battle is forecast... ....and then the rug is jerked out from under our feet. Mob disperses his power so the confrontation Dimple is pushing for has no way to occur... defusing the bomb. This situation is so common in heated arguments-- people refuse to back down and slowly get entrenched in seeing things in just one way the more they double down... and you need to reset the situation somehow. Mob does that...with empathy and apology. He believes in Dimple even when Dimple has forgotten himself. It's a sweet scary moment that could have gone badly for Mob, yet the risk is so immense it snaps Dimple back to his senses and see more deeply into himself. I love that, no matter how powerful Mob is, his superpower is actually his compassion and empathy. But he's also just a boy -- and Dimple realizes that. He steps up and -- although their relationship is one of friends -- he also fathers Mob, looking out for him and recognizing his drain and lack of experience. He wants to protect him, like an adult would protect a child even if that child could technically raze the world. So when the threat of the actual Tree emerges, he does exactly that: Dimple has power and craftiness tempered by experience and he extends himself to protect the innocent Mob and get him to safety. We didn't know how Dimple could regain our trust, but in a situation where he could have again exploited Mob, he uses the opportunity to steer Mob away and masks his own wounds and danger to keep Mob walking -- we know Dimple's doomed, even while he puts up the cheery mask of his old self to reassure Mob it will all be okay so Mob doesn't worry. So we get that big battle e6 promised, just not with who we expected. And Dimple pays for his earlier power play, but instead of feeling pleasure over that, it's instead heart-breaking. Mob did restore Dimple to his better self by the huge risks he took, but inevitably that better self leads Dimple to make an ultimate sacrifice. I don't really know how this show pulls off the unexpected so often, but it continues to surprise and move the heart.
