Well, there it is. The last of the MHA anime I saw before I fell off it all those years back (though I did go ahead and watch all the movies after I caught up for this). Going forward everything that's known to me is just from the manga.

I really love Amagiki, he is my favorite of the big three, and his power is so interesting! I've read a couple of books where the MC has a similar power, of absorbing aspects of things they eat, and I imagine this character was inspired by that particular Japanese novel. I cant remember the name of the series to save my life though.

Mirio's my favorite character in all of MHA. Looking forward to see him animated throughout the rest of the series. I'm usually not the type of the guy to say shit like this, but if you got a serious problem with Mirio, there's gotta be something wrong with ya.

I agree. I also really like the dynamic of Mirio and Amagiki. The extraverted adopted the introverted type of friendships. Can't wait for them to see more of this.

Yeah, there was quite some time between seasons, so they generally always have the first episode be a recap and introduce all the main students again to get watchers reaquainted with them. They are "annoying" episodes for binge watching after letting the seasons pile up, but kinda necessary for people when the show was ongoing!

Taneo Tokuda (the journalist guy in S4E1) is another anime-original character who's design and backstory were created by Horikoshi. I like him. Though his Quirk did use to weird me out when I first saw it.

I think out of all the MHA cast Mirio is the most universally liked character besides All Might. So much so that some people even say HE should've been the protagonist of the story instead of Deku which is REALLY saying something because every character in this show in the fanbase has haters in some capacity but not Mirio he's truly the goat and you'll start to see it later on.

Alright so I'm ngl, I can't sit here after listening to ya'lls rationale about starting a series midway and not bring up the fact that ya'll did that with Dragon Ball like at least 3 times over lol. I get that ya'll were new to anime and the channel operated differently at the time, but whoever told ya to start with a parody that starts in the middle of the franchise and then proceed to continue on in roundabout way they did was doing ya a disservice for the same reasons you just gave in the post-episode chat.

Miros control over his quirk is so impressive because his power would be the scariest to even use, the fact that you can just phase through the ground and if u lose control you fall forever is super scary and he has to do that while holding his breath!! the amount of control he has is insane. My top 5 5. Kirashima: Kirashima is the homie of homies i love his drive and his bromance with Bakugo its always hilarious seeing him and denki following him around. 4: Kamanari:I always loved his costume design a lot and this season we see him finally be clutch and get to shine without him frying his brain in so glad🥹. 3. All might: His fight with all for one made a crazy impact from the United States of smash to the now it’s your turn line this moment was so legendary, All might really went out in a blaze of glory 2. Deku. Every season he’s finding ways to improve, from the last season learning full cowling too this season where he learned shoot style I love seeing Deku grow stronger while having the heart of a true hero. He grew sm even emotionally too because usually he would try to get in peoples heads to figure them out then try to talk and comfort them but he had so much maturity to know that that’s not what Bakugo needed and that he had to fight. 1. Bakugo: this season was absolute peak for Bakugo it’s the first time we get to see inside Bakugos psyche and how he really feels , you see him be nicer to everybody in his own way as the show goes on and he’s always the funniest to me because I love his anger humor. I love interactions he has with Deku, totoroki, and the Bakusquad. And the fight between him and Deku is my favorite fight of the show so far, one of my favorite episodes I love Bakugo sm that’s Bakugoat fr💯

At least with Naruto I understand bc Viz Media was giving them a hard time with it and copyright. But the plan with Dragon Ball didn't have that stipulation, and the approach that was taken was just unnecessarily strange. They ended up becoming DB fans all the same so it's not like I'm mad about it, but yeah. If I were a vocal member back then I woulda had a thing or two to say lol

S4E1 I think is pretty much just a filler clipshow/recap episode, I think some shows do this for (primarily to give the manga more of a headstart while they adapt it into an anime) and I think a lot of shows and anime do this for it's televised syndication just in case someone new to this happens to be tuning in they won't be lost.

MHA also has a much larger cast of characters than most shows since its centered around a class so I’m sure many people find it helpful

Okay, Tamaki Amajiki / Suneater (the guy with his head against the wall) – yeah, that’s totally Aaron Dismuke (Oscar from RWBY)! I don’t think his Potato Heads stratagem is working either. And the “gabby” girl (Nejire Hado) is voiced by Lindsay Seidel, who voiced … well… Gabi Braun from AoT! Sounds like Mirio had to work his power hard to apply it. But that should give the younger students confidence, in that if they invest that much effort, they might be able to improve as well. Sometimes when someone becomes SO accomplished (like a concert pianist or a high-vault jumper), they make something look so simple that it’s discouraging when someone else doesn’t even know where to start to learn such a thing – so it’s good to know that all of that “easy skill” was actually quite difficult to master and hard work is what made the difference. “Free Willy” seems a pretty apropos name, lol! This Overhaul guy got a heavy setup, sounds ominous… The invisible girl is cracking me up. Did we EVER see her visible yet? (I can’t recall.) Is she going to be invisible to the end of the series?? Episode 1 of Season 4 felt like it was trying to be an entry-level episode to new viewers (or a rehash for those who had forgotten – which I guess makes sense, in Japan it aired a year after the Season 3 finale -- although in the US they aired much closer together). I thought it was a cool twist that Tokuda didn’t really want to expose Izuku, he just wanted to be reassured about the world’s symbol of peace continuing to exist in the world. It made this a sweet episode, which it sounds like we’ll need for whatever’s planned with Overhaul…

I'm not the type who's too upset about recap episodes, I understand their purpose. But it is definitely easier when you get to watch multiple episodes at a time. (c: Also, I know you don't watch the EDs, but this arc's ED is my favourite. It's pretty common for me to emotionally connect an anime opening to its season/arc, but for this arc, I really felt like I connected with both the opening and the ending sequences.
