I don't think Zig has been "unnecessarily" petty and mean. To troll is a pretty mean thing to do itself (pun intended). Yes, she gloated about having s*x with his mother, but not in front of a crowd. Now, he refuses to shake her hand. That's not something he absolutely had to do, but it would have been a good opportunity to bury the hatchet. He could have still shake her hand and still be not supportive of Helen's choice. I really hope he'll change his mind, somehow.
