I spoke with Sriram Muralidaran (@tanthiram) about being an outfighter in MMA and more broadly about how some fighters have bucked the trend of being high-volume pressure fighters.

We used Raphael Assunção as our prime example of how a fighter can keep a lid on their opponents and control the initiative without actually having to throw a gratuitous amount of strikes.

Really liked this one, and the deep dive into outfighting in MMA

Sriram Muralidaran

Before I listen to this, what’s a good fight of Raphael Assuncao’s to watch? I’ve only seen part of the sandhagen one

Miguel Class

Watch the Victor Henry fight because we talk a bit about that one.

Great episode Towards the end i liked the takes about erceg and being a victim of his own success in a way. Not getting enough time against lower level comp I can relate personally (not that i compare in any way to erceg) i had a heavy “iron sharpens iron” mentality in my muay thai gym at the start. Always working with great guys who were ahead of me. But one of the coaches said i should try working with a newer guy too Finally did and i didnt even realize the level i was at till i got to go against the new guys. I was better than i originally thought (sounds so egotistical sorry) Working with the tops guys is great. But you almost are forced to try to fight to their level rather than your own.
