Breakdown | Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje (Patreon)

It was supposed to be a routine title defense. Instead, we got a massive upset and a career-best performance from Justin Gaethje, who looked better prepared and fought more intelligently and consistently than we had ever seen before.

If you listened to our roundtable discussion you'll recall that we all recognized that Gaethje possessed some skills that could cause Topuria some trouble, but none of us expected him to bring them together into a coherent gameplan that he would stick to.

Despite it being a bit sad to see one of the best pound-for-pound fighters take a beating like this, finally seeing Gaethje put it all together made it feel rewarding to watch regardless.
