Hey all! Hope you're having a great introduction to the Summer weather.

Wanted to give you a quick update on things that have been going on in my world. It's been pretty busy around here, mostly with dealing with some family stuff. The good news is that my plan to completely finish all the pending commissions that I had on my plate is nearly done! I have a few batches of sound effects that need the thumbs up and then I gotta make one more song and I'm basically free to pursue any crazy thing I want :D

This transition has been difficult mentally. I started to feel anxious without the axe of a deadline over my head. As if I was forgetting something and was going to get in trouble for missing someone's assets. It's wild trying to re-calibrate my brain to focus on taking a slower pace and actually enjoying some free time occasionally.

Of course, I immediately also started overloading myself with personal projects and that caused some nasty burnout at the end of the month, meaning that I didn't make a sample pack this month. However, I have some plans for a micro pack that will just be free for everyone forever, and will be a lot less of a load on me mentally :)

A few months ago in a prior update I talked about plans for how I wanted to keep momentum going for Tallbeard Studios in general without having to rely on commissions and here is the general outline I came up with:

Commissions

Only take on projects that seem interesting or fun to participate in.

Income

Passive income through Spotify, Pretzel.Rocks, Twitch, and Gumroad pack sales

Active income through fostering Patreon support and building a community

Future: Get select music on some stock music sites for additional passive revenue

Work

Continue weekly 2HTC streams for Patreon. After the Patreon exclusivity fades, those songs eventually get released to streaming services (Spotify, Pretzel, Apple Music, etc) as well as distributed as stock music.

Work on monthly sample packs to allow greater collaboration with other artists as well as passively building a mailing list for when other cool projects pop up.

Ultimately, the goal is to have more free time to do cool stuff.

I'm looking forward to it :)
