Hi Seb! Thank you so much for reacting to the request. It’s going to be great to watch along to this classic!

Haven't got the director's cut so I'll probably wait till the YouTube cut. Looking forward to it though and glad you enjoyed it! 👽

Good one, Seb. Great film. And glad Hereditary is coming up. It will be good for your channel as a broad swath of folks seem interested in reactions to that. And it will be a good introduction to your subscribers who don't know about it. Good timing for that film.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's been one of my favourite films ever since my mum introduced it to me as a kid(!) Your reaction to it was probably the best I've seen, and I felt like I was watching it for the first time again. I like that you appreciated the slow pace and the cinematography. I know so much about this film so I'll try not to bore you, just fill you in on some of the things you picked up on. The beautiful score is by Jerry Goldsmith and is one of the best film soundtracks of all time. Parts of it are used throughout the subsequent Alien films because it's so iconic. You mentioned the design of the Alien — it was created by HR Giger, a Swiss surrealist artist. His art is amazing but so fucked up. You mentioned the 'metal' tongue — Giger designed the Alien to look biomechanical. You were right about the duct scene — it was very influential and has been copied and parodied so many times since, including in The Simpsons. IMO the duct jump scare is one of the best in history. It nearly killed me as a kid. You didn't mention it, so I'm not sure if you noticed that Ash is played by Ian Holm, who played Bilbo in LOTR? I know you have other films lined up but I hope you'll react to Aliens soon. It's a very different film to Alien, but is one hell of a ride. It's one of the greatest sequels ever made, and Ripley's character growth is great — Sigourney Weaver was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar, the first time an actor was nominated for a sci-fi film.

For some reason, my version of the director's cut was slightly different, so I had to keep re-syncing the videos. Very thankful for the blurred footage in the reaction! Also, there's this wax museum in Salem, Massachusetts that I love to visit and it has a life-size wax figure of Alien, a face hugger, and Predator, along with loads of other horror film figures. Really cool, and the whole museum is dark to make it extra spooky. You can also get Alien: Isolation the game on VR with a mod 😳

I found this movie quite boring. However, its sequels really deliver.
