A request from Keiran thank you so much for your support and this GREAT film choice!

I enjoyed this movie so much honestly and for anyone that has not seen this movie I would highly recommend you watch it (does not have to be with this reaction but it is just such a good movie). I still feel very warm and happy after this movie and I don't want to say much else as it will spoil my reactions. Would absolutely love to hear your comments on the film as I don't know what other people think of it as I have not checked any reviews!

Enjoy the reaction guys :)

I first read the book in high school, when we found out there’d be a movie adaptation. I completely loved both the book and the movie wholeheartedly. It’s such a beautiful thing for younger kids of all sexualities to watch. So glad you watched this, Seb 💞 you’re the man 👏🏼

SpeedyBrandon

Absolutely love parts of the film but think it’s not really a good realistic representation of how difficult it is for someone in Simon’s shoes…for example I didn’t come out until I was 20/21 years old…and I know of many others who waited until they were done with school before revealing their true self. I still enjoy the film and look forward to seeing your reaction

It's such a great feelbook film and great to have more gay representation in cinema. Plus Nick Robinson is SO hot

Jeff Cabrera

Loved this movie. It deserves to sit amongst the best teen movies IMO. Even though it was criticized as being too idealistic of a coming out story, you could also argue that it’s escapism (there are enough sad, depressing LGBT movies). The scene with Simon’s mom (Jennifer Garner) at the end 🥺….. I will neither confirm or deny that I cried (but I did 😅)

This film is everything. I went to see it a few times when it came out in the cinema! Such a comfort movie. I still cry every time with the exhale scene. If interested in your own time, there’s three books and one novella epilogue set in the “Simonverse” (which are my favourite) and a spin off series on Disney plus called Love, Victor, which is really worth a watch! Such a cute franchise! And the author of the books is the loveliest! Great reaction also!

I agree with Jeff Cabrera, 100%. It is a terrific teen movie. Teen movies have their share of escapism as this one does. It's a feel good movie and the fact that it wouldn't have been made in the US even a few years before it was, shows the tremendous progress we continue to see in US culture and many others as well. I would also say this film in its quality, story line, and timing, made its own contribution to the fabric of that progress. Seb, if I recall correctly, the actor who plays Simon, Nick Robinson, is straight. And while filming this movie, one of his brothers came out to him as gay. So Nick and Chris Evans have that in common. They both have a gay brother. :-)

Kayla

Yup, his friends weren't such assholes in the book. It really irritated me they were written like this. Made no sense.

Nathan Early

This was good, I only saw this one once, and almost forgot how much I liked it. Was good to watch it again.

Christopher Carpenter

I’ve been enjoying your reactions on YouTube for a while now but when I saw that you were doing Love, Simon I had to join your Patreon. Great reaction and I’m glad I joined up.

Seb, once again you did a great reaction. As I've said from the start, you are good at this. I'm glad you started your channel.

I saw this film for the first time a few months back, and being a gay man myself, it hit me sooooo hard. Obviously I didn't have the exact same love story, but I could literally feel every single emotion Simon portrayed, Seeing him uncomfortable when his dad was cracking gay jokes, being outed and then singled out in school, the absolutely hearwarming/tear jerking scenes with his parents-- it all got me!! I've definitely watched it more than a few times.... I may have been a little obsessed. Also, your reaction to this is the best ever, as always! Thank you!!!!

Keiran Foord

This reaction is amazing Seb! And yes, you are right, this is a feel-good film (though I ball my eyes out in some places... you know which scenes) that I have watched countless times just to get that warm feeling in my chest. When I came out from the cinema from watching it the first time I couldn't speak for nearly an hour after and was crying happy tears all the way home not being able to wait to watch it again. The experience in the cinema was incredible, people really felt for Simon the way you did, they cry and got frustrated when he was outed but holy fuck did they scream and cheer and cry happy tears when he got his happy ending, I have never had an experience quite like it, it was surreal. This film is important to a lot of people and reading in the comments you can see why, it was the first LGBTQ+ film to be picked up by a major studio and it changed a lot of peoples lives, giving some that confidence to come out to their friends and families. So thank you for reviewing this movie Seb, you're a pretty awesome guy! Love, Keiran.

SebScreen

Yeah it definitely spurs emotion, I feel like I would cry on a rewatch because I know it is coming now

CPTN_Cosmo

This is a difficult one for me. One one hand I love it, but on the other hand I hate it for how unrealistic it is (at least for most people in a similar situation). But it’s a start.

Kaly

man i didnt expect that this movie would make me cryy!! I loved Simons character so much. great reaction as always

Daniel

Omg! Can you please react to Booksmart!? 🥺

Knights Who Say Sledge

I have been subscribed to your channel on YouTube for a few months now and KNEW I would eventually become a Patreon supporter for you - your output is excellent. But this is the film that clinched the deal for me. Thank you for reacting to it. I would LOVE to see you also react to "Moonlight" as well. Not tonally similar a film at all, but a superb movie that also tackles LGBT youth stories from a very different and incredibly powerful angle. It's honestly one of the single greatest films I've ever seen by any filmmaker on any subject from any era. It would make a superb addition to your reactions. Thank you again for your work - your channel has been helping me thru some challenging times.

SebScreen

Thanks alot man! And I am actually watching Moonlight next month :) This message really warms my heart man I really appreciate you!

Knights Who Say Sledge

Have you watched the sequel TV series, Love, Victor on Hulu? As much as I enjoy Love, Simon I hafta say I think the follow up TV show is even better. Major thumbs up.

Knights Who Say Sledge

Indeed. As much as I really do love "Love, Simon" something like Beautiful Thing or Moonlight or Maurice would make for an interesting, counter narrative viewing. Or all of them even.

Michael

I am glad it was that guy, they actually seemed to have chemistry at the start. The ferris wheel was major cringe, I kinda wish it happened without everyone there.

Alan Harmon

I woke up to some not wonderful news this morning, so I decided to treat myself to your full reaction to "Love, Simon." I watched it several times when it first came out but it has been a few years now, and getting to watch it again with a friendly face for the first time seemed like a good way to kill a morning. I'm glad you liked it - yeah, so many parts are very cringe, but the heart is in the right place, and that counts for a lot. Jennifer Garner's "you get to exhale now" always gets me worked up. Nick Robinson stars in a very under the radar movie called "The Kings of Summer" which I bought on blu-ray when it came out but only just recently watched for the first time. I'm sorry I waited so long - it is a lot of fun! All about three friends who decide to run away, build a house in the forest and live off of the land. It's better than it sounds! Some folks in the post-Heartstopper poll mentioned that you should watch "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and I'd like to add my endorsement. It's not an LGBT film (one of the friends is gay but it is not a plot point) but about experienceing first love and other troubles. It is VERY good - Logan Lerman gives a wonderfully repressed performance - but keep some tissues handy! Thanks for keeping me company this morning, Seb!

Clayton Bockman

Love this movie so much. Can't tell you how many times I have watched it. It was a pleasure to watch it with Seb
