SO GOOOD!! Acting, soundtrack and fight scenes were crazy and so much more. Possibly the best one so far.

What did you think?

Glad to see you are reacting to this! I loved this movie and aside from Man of Steel and the Dark Knight series, this was a complete winner for me. Actually, made me more interested in the DCU!

This is definitely one of the strongest DCEU films. Watching the No Man’s Land scene for the first time… literal chills. The chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine carried this film. The fish out of water storyline wouldn’t have worked as well without it. -“Would you say you’re a typical example of your sex?” -“ I am… above average.” 💀💀💀

Favorite DCEU film by far. I don’t know if it was the director, Gal Gadot, or the writer of this first film- but they really understood the character of Wonder Woman. They made her relatable and sympathetic while still maintaining her powerhouse status. Diana and Steve’s relationship feels so organic and genuine- above any couple in Marvel or DC in my opinion. And even the smaller characters have their moment to shine. I don’t know how they dropped the ball so hard for the sequel- but unfortunately even if it’s still enjoyable, it’s nowhere near as good as this one. I’m glad you enjoyed it Seb! I have a feeling you’re going to like most of the DC films going forward except one… lol

Kevin

best dc movie tbh

FYI, not including credits, Zack Snyder’s Justice League is about 3 hr 53 min. It is split into 7 parts with Part 3 ending at around 1hr 51. This leaves 2 hours left of the film, just in case you wanted a cleaner way to split it (I would not recommend splitting it at exactly the 2 hr mark, that’s all I’m saying 👀🤐😂)

Brad Johnson

really good film. Definately has its problems but very entertaining. Best DC film

SquaredSpekz

I think that is what's so good about a lot of the DCEU, is their power level is just crazy.

Roberto Chavez

love this movie, can't wait for ZS Justice League!!! also birds of prey is pretty solid imo

General rule of thumb is, for geek gods they typically possess the power of their parents (or some version of their parents power) plus their own. Which is why both Ares and Diana have the abilities of Zeus to a certain degree since they're both his children. 🤙

Loved this film and so glad WW got such good origin story treatment. I am generally not a DC universe guy, but Wonder Woman was/is my favorite super hero character of any of them. Spiderman is a close second, but when we played super heroes as kids, I was always WW. I grew up watching Linda Carter play her on TV and watching the Super Friends cartoon on Saturday mornings, so maybe it's all nostalgia, but she's the best.

One of my absolute favorite DC films. Apparently for many others as well, which is why it does so well in DC box office rankings, beaten only by Dark Knight and its sequel, I believe. Slightly flawed and has a few cheesy moments, but overall it's such a great film. The directing, fight choreography, story flow, Diana's background, set design, and soundtrack were all great. The bit in the soundtrack that sounds like a siren seems meant to reflect Diana/Wonder Woman: feminine and also aggressive/powerful. Including Diana's background in the film was a great way to explain that she is both highly intelligent and well read, while also being very naïve from her lack of worldly exposure. Hands down, Diana and Steve are the best couple in any superhero movie as of late. Effortless chemistry. The second one is nowhere near as good as this. I'm not sure what they did so differently, but it just doesn't come together like this one. It's up to you whether or not you react to it. It's skippable, in my opinion.

Another fun fact I forgot to mention. The women on Themyscira are played by real life hench women from different athletic backgrounds, ranging from rowing to boxing and in between. Even Gal herself trained for months to make her body look more believable in this role.

Combination of everything. WW's creative process had a lot of balance between different people all cancelling out each other's worst aspects and enhancing each other's worst. That's why WW84 was so bad, only two of the five people behind WW's story were involved and at least one of them clearly let their worst aspects run rampant. The first film started from two completely different scripts. One, by Jason Fuchs, was set in World War 1 like the film is now, but the story itself was completely different. That was the script the film's original director (Her name is escaping me) was using. When she left, Patty Jenkins came in and was more impressed by a different script. That script, by Zack Snyder, was set in the Crimean War. Jenkins really liked the character dynamics he had in that script, but she didn't like the dark tone it had as much, so Snyder went over to Geoff Johns (Who he had worked with to draft the overall DCEU plan, along with Jim Lee) to help brighten it up. Johns, who was still busy with some TV stuff at the time, introduced Snyder to Allan Heinberg (A comic writer who Johns had worked with before and who was a huge Wonder Woman aficionado). Heinberg added a few suggestions to Snyder's script, but also suggested an entirely different story since he felt Snyder's WW script was too thematically redundant of BvS' script. Heinberg introduced the idea of Diana's naivety, comparing her to a modern more badass "Disney Princess". While some of his own team got a little defensive at the suggestion of scrapping the story entirely, Snyder fell in love with Heinberg's idea and completely scrapped his own script and told Heinberg they were gonna do his movie instead (Patty Jenkins also loved the concept and agreed to it). So Snyder, Heinberg, and Johns eventually laid out the story using Fuchs' setting as a basis with Heinberg helming the script for about 2/3 of the writing process. At some point, Heinberg had to leave to focus on a TV show he was doing, and Snyder had to leave to focus on Justice League. That left Johns and Jenkins to write the film's third act, which is why it feels a little disjointed and goofy. They lack the sincerity of Heinberg or the darkness of Snyder, being more Silver Age-inclined writers. That especially showed on WW84, where Johns especially went straight up Superman III on the script. Jason Fuchs. Zack Snyder. Geoff Johns. Patty Jenkins. Allan Heinberg. Remove any one of these 5 people, and WW would've been worse. WW84 removed three of them, and the result is clear. Heinberg and his sincerity and close connection to WW comics especially was missed in WW84.

Inhuman Paradox

What happened was of the five people who crafted this first movie's story (Jason Fuchs, Zack Snyder, Geoff Johns, Patty Jenkins, and Allan Heinberg), only two returned for WW84 (Geoff Johns and Patty Jenkins). Allan Heinberg, who crafted most of this movie's final screenplay and gave it a lot of sincerity and emotion, was especially missed. Maybe WW84 could've survived without Snyder, it probably could've survived without Fuchs, but it absolutely could not survive without Heinberg. WW3 HAS to get Heinberg back to return sincerity to the franchise.

Jeff Cabrera

The sequel script was severely lacking without Heinberg. Was a huge mistake not bringing him back.

Kyle

This is my favorite film in the DCU

Amanda

Absolutely love this movie. Honestly it’s the first movie I ever saw where a female protagonist wasn’t actively objectified. Yes they saw her as beautiful, but she was just always about being strong and good. It was so powerful to see in theaters.

WW is the one shining glimmer of how truly amazing the DCEU can be, everyone basically acknowledges that this is an incredible film. To answer your question Diana canonically has no kryptonite, Batman who's super power is preparation? lmao actually told Superman that he has a contingency plan on how to stop every single one of the justice league members in case they went off the rails, except for Diana.

Lee

So disappointed it'll be in two parts 😪 but yeah whatever do not watch WW1984 unless you want to torture yourself.

This was really good though definitely some silliness here and there. I'm often not a fan of WW1 or WW2 stuff when it comes to such things as they spend too long making references to it rather than developing the story or characters. I think this movie managed to not do that too much though which is good. Diana and Steve's relationship was really good and him at the end did get me a bit teary so obviously they did well with their characters. I did actually predict who Ares was 😂 I honestly had no clue about Wonder Woman's powers or history before this, she is way stronger than I thought. With this movie I'd almost see her as stronger than Superman even, I guess it depends on the situation though for both of them. Looking forward to JL as not seen the famed Snyder cut so will be exciting.

Tomi Pizúr

If no one mentioned this yet, you have to watch the Snyder Cut for Justice League. The theatrical version is so trash but the cut is def worth it!

Ruby

Makes sense now. Heinberg's absence is definitely felt in WW84.

Ruby

I agree. It would've killed the movie's vibe if the focus was on her 'hotness' rather than her power. Joss Whedon used to do this to Scarlett in her earlier years as Black Widow and I hated it. It's so exploitative and cheap.

I know what you mean about the Superhero relationships. For a really good Superman/Lois you should watch the series Lois and Clark from the 90s... And Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher are pretty easy on the eyes too
