Patreon Bonus Video: Legends Z-A and your expectations of it compared to Legends Arceus

Thanks for the review, and pretty interesting take! As a fellow life long Pokéfan, Archeus was the game I never knew I wanted, and I've been nothing but hyped for ZA since announcement, and each trailer has gotten me more excited! I never even thought about how little exploration there is in these trailers, and now I'm a lot less hyped. I'm also a Digimon fan and I'm actually MORE hyped for Time Stranger, which looks like it's really leaning into exploration. Digimon as a franchise finally accepted it's not gaining new 8 year old fans and started catering to 30 something year olds. Might be the time to check that franchise out of you haven't already! Kalos is one of the regions I'm more nostalgic for, and that being the era I discovered your channel is a big part of it. Those videos were also my first lessons in competitive Pokémon/team building strategies. I'm not going to pretend I'm great at competitive Pokémon, or even that I've played a lot, but the Sylveon Ace Tournament strategy eliminating the need for EV training is the ONLY reason I ever tried it out in the first place. Between the new battling here and the upcoming Champions game, I am excited for this next era of Pokémon, and hope they're just hiding the exploration (but not holding my breath). Anyways, good video, hope you get a wave of inspiration (Arceus knows we could all use some more) and look forward to all these videos you're working on (including a "low effort" good game discussion one)!

I'm very excited for the game, but I do think a lot of your concerns are valid. I did expect the Legends series to stick with setting games in the past so it's very weird for the second entry to go in the opposite direction.

I was a little nervous when Z-A was announced, because it being in the future felt strange, but, I was still excited because Legends Arceus was my favorite Pokemon game to come out in a long time, and surely if played similarly I would enjoy it!! Needless to say, that optimism has died down,, I have zero interest in battling, I want to explore and complete catching tasks and quests and stuff........ if a large part of the Z-A was about exploring and discovering all the various nooks and crannies of the city, I'd still be interested, but it's not looking good on that front. I'll wait and see what people have to say when it released, I guess. Also, I know it's basically a given at this point, but I'm sorry I will never accept paid DLC that has substantial content behind it. I was fine with DLC that was cheap and added really small things, like what was usually done during the 3DS era (costumes and extra items, mini bonus quests, things like that), but when there's substantial content locked behind it....... ugh. It bothers me from a preservation standpoint.
