This was a fun video. I think it's worth clarifying that Power of us is the 21st movie focusing on Lugia and Pikachu does not speak in this movie. I choose you is the 20th movie that is a retelling of the original series and this is the movie where Pikachu speaks. I cannot recommend Power of us enough. It's a beautiful movie in every aspect.

I remember watching that movie when I was 10 and thinking "Wow, that was dogshit" It made me feel like the show did, like they thought I was stupid. I'm not surprised the japanese dialogue was a little more intelligent, but still, I think it was just bad, and it's not because it was made for kids, The Owl House was made for kids and it's an absolute masterpiece that my young nephews love almost as much as I do, there's no reason media for kids has to be this bad.

As a kid I was never really into the anime so the movies kinda came and went for me, and I only ever saw the first 3, Heros and I have the very faintest memory of the Jirachi movie, but this has made me want to go back and give some a watch. Though I did watch I Choose You when it came out because I remember people kind of freaking out (negatively) about Pikachu speaking, but I gotta say, it wasn't all that crazy of an addition, just a touch corny but eh.

I never saw any of the movies in theatres. Part of that is I was not a fan of movie theatres because they were loud, but I also think my parents couldn't stomach it. I know when it came to the Yu-Gi-Oh movie, I wasn't missing that as a response to the Pokemon experience (or lack there of). I've seen it a few years later but I don't quite feel like I missed it.
