A Commission for Xerxes76

Since being transformed from an ordinary man to the powerful (and busty) Meteor Woman, Kara has come to love her new superheroic life. She’s in love with an investigative reporter, she’s closer with her family, she’s doing good in the world, and . . . she’s pregnant! But with all these changes on the horizon, new threats rise up. A shady real estate mogul wishes to tear apart the community she has helped protect, and she must find a way to stop him, all while dealing with an ever-growing belly!

Issue 2: New Threats

The centre of Metropole was in absolute chaos. Various villains were in full rampage mode, and Meteor Woman was shocked that she didn’t recognise almost any of them. There were at least five - no, six! - different threats. One was large and scaled, with a big tail and nasty jaw, just like a lizard. Another had a metal exosuit in the shape of a big gorilla. They were smashing apart a storefront, while three identical-looking villains in red and black futuristic cyberpunk getups were flying ahead, firing a trifecta of lasers and carving up concrete, causing dust to go flying everywhere. The last villain was toxic - literally. She appeared to be naked, composed entirely of green goo or slime, her form voluptuous. A bigger girl, and for good reason: she was literally shooting the goo her belly was making out of her hands and even her mouth, corroding sections of the road and causing drivers to hit the brakes before they had any nasty accidents.

“Damn it, who are these people?” Meteor Woman whispered to herself, before readying her sonic scream. “STOP RIGHT NOW OR FACE ME!”

A number of the villains looked up. They showed no seeming recognition of her, or the immense power she possessed. Hell, there wasn’t even a crack about her boobs, which was practically a damn feature of her interactions with the cruder villains. Instead, they went right back to wrecking the centre of Metropole, demolishing entire shopfronts and ripping up concrete and bitumen.

Who the hell are these guys? she wondered.

It didn’t matter; they were endangering lives in her neighbourhood. She launched forward, racing down into the street to take on the reptilian monster man. He snarled as he saw her coming, leaping up from the site of his carnage to collide against her. He had force, but she was much stronger; a single punch sent him flying back down to the ground. The exosuit gorilla launched a bevy of missiles her way. She dodged them in the air, quickly applying her laser vision to detonate them, before flying down to deliver a sonic scream into his suit. It was a technique she’d learned worked well against electronics, and sure enough the gorilla mech began to stumble, its movements jerky even as it jumped to the side to smash upon a shop front.

“That’s enough damage from you!” she yelled, pulling him back. With her laser vision she melted the belly of the suit and began pulling at several key wires, only to be slammed from the side. A pile of toxic goo began to sizzle painfully against her skin. She was stuck to the road, and the flying woman was spewing more and more of her acid all around her.

Damn, that actually hurts.

She tried to pull up, but the stuff was resistant. If it were a hard shell it would be an easy fix, but it was like elastic, a gelatinous mix that pulled her back. Meanwhile, the other two villains were all getting back to their havoc, and the laser trifecta had approached, firing their lasers as they flew, peppering her with their shots and aiming for her eyes so it was hard to shoot back. It felt coordinated, and when Meteor Woman tried to fly to the side, still trapped in the acidic goo, the gorilla mech punched her back into position while the lizard tail kept her trapped.

Fine. Have it your way, she thought. I’ve been missing a proper beat down.

She turned her laser vision downward arcing all around her into the road and boring straight through its surface. The section of the road she was on collapsed into the sewer. Water poured everywhere, erupting to wash away the acidic toxicity. Freed, the busty heroine launched into action. She took out the three cyberpunk villains first, each receiving a surgical application of her laser vision that sent them crashing to the ground, their jetpacks melted. The lizard launched at her through a building, but her X-ray vision caught him coming, and she dodged to the side, gripping his tail and then spinning him around and around and then releasing him at the exact moment that the mech gorilla was jumping up to intercept her. They crashed to the ground, falling into the pit she had just created. Water was flowing there everywhere now, and she took her opportunity. The goo woman was sending acid flying all over the place, and several civilians were already running in terror, several of them suffering burns. Meteor Woman launched forward to get her, but the goo woman continued to move away, peppering civilians who were fleeing.

“Damn it!”

She dove and weaved through the air, intercepting the acid sprays. It gave just enough time for the reptile to jump into the air and grab her. His teeth cracked against her shoulder, so there was no danger of him harming her, but he was clearly immune to the acid goo, while it was piling up on her. The pair crashed down again.

How do they coordinate so well without speaking?

She didn’t have time to question it. She punched the lizard in quick succession; he was trying to punch her in the stomach, and that was the worst place to try right now. She delivered some extra pain, causing him to let loose a horrid growl. But more goo was piling on her. The toxic lady gave a slight grin, just the barest hint of one as she hovered overhead. Her stomach expanded, ready for her to spew forth more chemicals to trap Meteor Woman.

And then suddenly a golden flash sent her flying into the ground. Alexis Conway, Kara’s beloved baby sister, was floating in the air where the toxic villainess had been, her hands on her splendid hips, her bust proud. She was grinning like a madwoman.

“Need some help?”

“I wouldn’t complain about it! Nice timing, kiddo!”

“Not a kiddo anymore, remember?”

“Ha!” Meteor Woman exclaimed. She freed herself from the goo, and got to work tackling the reptilian monster man. The gorilla mech was down for the count, as were the cyberpunk guys. And while Meteor Woman had no doubt that she could have handled this lot on her own, she never turned down the chance to ‘work’ with her kid sister. Alexis had come into her own as Meteor Lass in the last two years, and despite the fact that this made for a solid hero career, the adorable superhero nerd still could barely believe she was an actual member of the Society. It was adorable.

The two worked in perfect concert, intercepting the goo woman’s acid while intercepting her attempts to get away. The area below was flooding, and Meteor Woman called out for ‘Lass’ to help get her into the pit. They took out the reptile one final time with a double-punch, and then the pair gripped the villainess and dragged her screaming into the water. She cried out, and suddenly the water turned a horrid green colour. When they pulled her out, she looked like a normal, if rather naked and voluptuous, woman with dark skin and a wet afro.

Meteor Lass rubbed her hands together. “There!” she said. “Nothing we can’t do, huh?”

Kara smiled, putting her sister in a brief little headlock and rubbing her hair at superspeed. “Damn right, kiddo!”

“Hey, I’m not a kiddo anymore!”

“You’ll always be one to me. Thanks for the help. I’m - ugh!”

She doubled over and vomited on the ground, a bout of morning sickness suddenly upon her. The fact that a helicopter was covering the scene only made it more embarrassing. She really hoped that Ralph wasn’t in it, though it was probably recording live.

“Woah, you okay?” Alexis asked.

“I’m f-fine. Just all that, uh, acid goo. I swallowed some of it while she was attacking me.”

But Alexis had always been smart, and Kara could see that she was applying her X-ray vision, looking at her much older sister’s stomach. Her eyes widened, and she placed her hands on her mouth.

“Oh my God, K - Meteor Woman! Congr-”

“Shh!” Meteor Woman said, gesturing with her eyes to the helicopter. “Don’t finish that sentence. Look normal!”

Alexis trained her features, but couldn’t hide her excitement. “I’m so freakin’ happy, though. This is incredible!”

“Just - we’ll talk about it later. For now, we need to take in the damage and call in the Society to help clear this up.”

She looked across the shopfronts. This was the very lifeblood of Metropole, and it had been hit hard. She floated over to the corner store that had been almost destroyed. A man had returned, one she recognised.

“Mr Yusuf,” she said, lowering herself to the ground and placing a hand on his shoulder. “I’m so sorry.”

The bald, olive-skinned man was trying to keep his emotions in check and failing badly. Tears fell down his cheeks, and his shoulders trembled.

“This was my father’s store,” he said. “And my grandfather’s.”

“And it’s still yours. It just needs some fixing up. You’ve got insurance, right?”

The man nodded. “Yes, but . . . the claims will take time, and my margins are not great. And they’ve destroyed so much. Meteor Woman, why did they do this?”

She turned and gazed at the battlefield. The cyberpunk guys were behaving oddly, all of them were. Her superhearing caught the naked woman talking to Meteor Lass, her words going a mile a minute.

“I swear I’ve got no idea what’s going on I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to use my powers I only got them a few weeks ago and I’d never do something like this oh God oh God oh shit I hurt people didn’t I please tell me I didn’t hurt people!”

Meteor Woman frowned. Something strange was going on. She squeezed Mr Yusuf’s shoulder again and turned him a little to face her.

“Omar,” she said. “I promise I’ll get to the bottom of this, okay? This is my home, this is my neighbourhood. You’re going to be okay.”

He nodded, smiling a little, and then to her surprise, he actually hugged her. Normally, when guys that weren’t Ralph tried that, they were usually attempting to feel her big tits against their body. But Omar Yusuf wasn’t like that. He was a good man, and he made a mean matazeez too.

“Thank you, Meteor Woman,” he said.

She extracted herself from the hug, smiled warmly at him, and then flew over to her sister. They needed to figure out what was going on. Something strange.

And then I need to officially tell Ma the news, and celebrate with Alexis. I’ve put it off for too long. God, Ralph is gonna be so mad I went to this fight!

Harrison Blackwell viewed the screens in his magnificent top floor office suite. Hope was by his side, running the calculations, her implant whirring nonstop.

“The arrival of Meteor Lass was two minutes earlier than expected. Damage to the Metropole blocks was less than hoped for as well, sir. We underestimated her application of X-ray vision in the flight, and-”

Blackwell put up a hand, silencing her. “It’s all fine, Hope. We knew our trial run wouldn’t be perfect. We got what we wanted, didn’t we? Damage to the Metropole shopping districts and a gutting of their small businesses. And with so much attention on the spectacle of the fight, the news hasn't even covered our other little projects around town.”

The footage changed, showing numerous carjackings, thefts, muggings, break-ins, and violent altercations that had taken place that same evening.

“Remind me to thank our friends in the DA’s office for connecting us with so many prosecuted individuals who were willing to make some extra coin by causing havoc. You’ve made sure it can’t be traced back to us, of course?”

“Yes sir. All transactions have been handled anonymously, and only key individuals who will maintain their silence have been hired. The rest of the crime pattern is a result of our online bot network and radicalisation programs.”

Harrison smirked. “Remind me to also thank the Mayor’s office and our friends in Congress for relaxing the laws on social media controls. Up the donations to their campaign funds for the next cycle. Nothing too fancy. Give me a good percentage.”

The implant on Hope’s head whirred. “Estimations are that a mere five percent increase is all that is needed, sir.”

“Ha! So easily bought. And what’s the progress on our sinister six? No, that wasn’t what we called them. What did we decide to call them again?”

“The Hexagram, sir. A six-sided shape.”

“Eh, needs work, but it’s just a code name, I suppose. Does it look like the Hero Dome is buying the mind control thesis?”

Hope tapped on her pad, and a press conference with Blue Trident was being displayed at that very moment. Meteor Woman was in the back, silent but there for questions.

“-now it appears that the aggressors were mind-controlled, somehow. The chips attached to them dulled their self-awareness and made them receptive to commands. We’re not sure yet how, but the individuals have been released for now. Any other questions?”

“Good,” Harrison said. “A shame the mind-control results were so poor in testing, but this is a good workaround. Let them think our Hexagram are mere innocents. Wait at least two weeks, Hope, then reach out to them. Increase their pay, and then use our friend in the basement to cycle their powers and appearances so they appear like an entirely different cohort next time.”

“Yes sir.”

Harrison folded his hands, taking in the press conference.

“I have a question for Meteor Woman,” a reporter asked. “How can you justify the damage to Gerter Street? You deliberately caused massive damage to the infrastructure of the road and caused a flood.”

Meteor Woman looked a little flustered. “I’m sorry, but I had little choice. I wasn’t going to let people get harmed!”

“Are you aware that your damage to the water lines have left large areas of Metropole without safe water? There was a knock on effect!”

“I . . . wasn’t. I’m sorry again. I’ll do all that I can to help out, I promise you.”

Footage cut to the flooding caused by the pipe damage. Blackwell grinned. He’d needed her to be the one to damage the street, of course. The entire fight had been about that one moment when she was forced to laser through the ground. A good thing she never looked too closely, or she might have noticed the explosive charges that were set off simultaneously to flood the area and cause a greater amount of damage.

“Get in touch with that reporter,” he said. “He’s not even one of ours, but I like his moxy. We can use someone like him.”

He gestured at the screen and once more gazed over the footage of Meteor Woman vomiting. Was she allergic to the acid? Had the toxic powers done something to her? This was a weakness, and he just wished he knew how to exploit it. Well, there was plenty of time. The campaign to drown Metropole in a wave of crime and destruction had only just begun. He had months yet to go, and so many cards to play. But in the meantime . . .

“Keep the media attacks on Meteor Woman coming. She caused more damage than the villains. But add a lot more heat about Metropole’s aging infrastructure. I want those property values low.”

He swept his gaze over his project, the image of the shining city within a city upon the table in the centre of the room.

Soon, the mogul’s dream would be realised. Soon, Blackwellia would rise!

Family and friends cheered as Ralph popped the cork on the wine bottle - non-alcoholic, of course. He held up the drink and grinned cheekily. They were in Ralph and Kara’s impressive apartment, surrounded by loved ones who were in on the secret - the super secret and the pregnancy secret, of course.

“Congratulations, Kara!” they yelled as one, leaving the statuesque beauty blushing heavily. She was wearing a lovely blue dress with a respectable neckline that didn’t plunge too far, though with her rack she was always going to show off a lot of cleavage regardless. Her hair had been done up, and her makeup was classy for this little get together, though keen observers would note a faded red lipstick mark on Ralph Riley’s neck. All told, she was a vision of beauty and curves as she always was, something she had very much gotten used to by now, only she was distinctly aware that with the tight dress, one could definitely now see a slight bump on her belly.

“To baby number two!” Alexis shouted. “I hope it’s another girl!”

“Please, we’ve got enough girls,” Sally, their mother, said. She gripped her cane and gave her daughter a hug before leaning down to touch Kara’s stomach briefly. “You better be a little boy,” she said.

“Hang on, you told me you always wanted a girl after I became Kara for good.”

Her mother adopted a cheeky expression. “To be fair, Burt was a bit of a naughty one at times. I have much higher hopes for the next generation of boys.”

Kara scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Thank you all for coming,” she declared. I’m very excited. We both are. The baby is certainly a bit of a surprise-”

“Called it!” Samuel exclaimed. “The chivalric romance rings true!”

He was, in his other identity, the knight-themed Signet Lance. Lightning Lass, otherwise known as Abigail, shushed him.

Kara chuckled, moving to place an arm around her shorter husband’s shoulders. “Yeah, yeah, I know! A surprise baby, make your jokes.”

“I have a ton!” Alexis giggled.

“But not from my baby sister, she’s outlawed from them.”

“Awww.”

“As you can imagine, I’ll be taking another leave of absence from superheroing while I’m pregnant. I, uh, shouldn’t have joined that fight the other day. Rest assured, Ralph has already chewed me out for it.”

The group of heroes and civilians laughed at this.

“Please, like I can ever win an argument with you,” he said, kissing her on the cheek.

“He lets me win. He’s the journalist. I’m just a flying brick.”

“You’ll be a bigger brick soon!” Flame Dancer, aka Vicki Morton, said. She was in her wheelchair, her hair mostly missing, her right hand shrunken and melted, her right eye covered with an eyepatch. Her powers had come after her horrific burns from a fire, and only a select few knew that one of the most respected leaders of the Hero Society required mobility assistance when she wasn’t in her attractive and powerful Flame Dancer form. Kara would never forget what a deep act of trust it was for Vicki to let her see that part of her life, especially since they had once fought, back when she’d been more Burt than her current self. Instead, she just laughed at the woman’s joke and placed a hand on her belly, emphasising it.

“You’re not wrong! I better be careful, or people might start noticing similarities.”

“Please, like they even look at your face!” Alexis giggled.

The good cheer continued, and the food was served out. Kara was a little annoyed she couldn’t drink alcohol, but spending time with family and friends made up for it anyway. When Abigail put her music on shuffle and started to dance with the plant-like Gaia, others joined her. Ralph pulled Kara into the centre of the room, and despite her embarrassment over being pregnant again, not to mention her stuff up with the water pipes that was still causing issues and attacks against her online, she immediately felt all those concerns simply melt away as she held him in her hands. She floated above the flow a little, dancing with him.

“Show off!” Vicki declared.

“I try!”

Ralph chuckled, then kissed her. “I’m so glad we’re having another one,” he whispered to her. “I know you’re nervous, sweetie. But you’re going to be amazing. I know you are.”

“And if I’m not? What if this is all too much for me?”

She looked over to Dinah, who was fussing in Sally’s arms. Her beautiful little daughter was trying to get Kara’s attention.

“Then you’ll know what to prioritise first,” Ralph said, releasing her and landing back on the floor. Kara sighed. How does he know me so well?

She flew across the room to pick up Dinah, who cheered.

“Mommy! Dance! More dance, now!”

“She’s giving orders already,” Sally noted with a vulpine smirk.

“Takes after me, it seems. Come on, little buddy. My kiddo. Do you want to dance?”

“Want to dance!” Dinah said, her blue eyes lighting up. “Dance with Mommy. Dance Auntie Vicky. Dance Sister Alex!”

She started a fun little dance with her daughter, mother and child giggling excitedly as a circle formed around them and people cheered on the erratic movements of the little toddler.

“What about dance with Daddy?” Kara asked.

“No! No, no, no! No dance Daddy now!”

At this, another peal of laughter erupted. “Looks like someone’s the favourite tonight,” Vicki said. “Though I’m glad I got a mention!”

Kara smiled, her anxieties melting further away. She placed one hand on her stomach and looked into her daughter’s eyes.

“Mommy has another baby, Dinah. You’re going to be a big sister. And you know what? Mommy is starting to get excited.”

And here, surrounded by friends and family, one thought started to dominate for Kara Conway. She was a superhero, an owner of her own company, a wife, a mother, and a former man who certainly never expected to be a goddamn smokeshow of a woman with the world’s most famous rack.

But you know what? she thought as she danced with her daughter, Ralph joining in with his wildly daggy and loveable moves. I think I can handle it. I think it’s all gonna be okay.

To Be Continued . . .
