Story: Isekai Val part 1 (Patreon)

What? A story when there was supposed to be a mini-comic? What’s going on? It’s simple: it turns out that the next installment of The Magic Trail is way too rich to fit into a mini-comic, so it’s becoming a full-length comic ^^ It starts this Saturday, by the way. As for the rewrite of The Inn of the prancing bunny , we’re almost there, so just a little more patience ^^ As for today’s story, it was written by my friend Mei, so enjoy her excellent writing ^^ See you Saturday ^^
The story is set in a fantasy world, and we follow the adventures of Lunelle, Sylas and Naïa.
They are three friends who live at a school where they are learning magic under the guidance of their teacher, Kayla.
For over five years now, each of them has been studying for a master’s degree to become a teacher themselves and explore the world around them.
Lunelle had chosen to specialise in protective magic; she was gifted at creating protective domes, but also at unravelling the mysteries of the dungeons hidden within this world.
She was so skilled in her field that she could also summon familiars to help her fight any opponent.
Sylas was a rather boastful young man, always ready to get up to mischief; he learnt arcane magic to blow things up, but that wasn’t all , for the past year, his main ambition had been to become a dragon rider; yes, he wanted to ride a dragon.
Naïa was more drawn to ecology and decided to pursue a rather unusual course of study; she studied everything related to the forest and the marsh not far from their home. She had become an expert in plants and potions, and had even learnt the basics of necromancy, which was far more complex than simply raising the dead.
Kayla was an expert in this field, so she’d become very close to Naïa, whilst the other two got on like a house on fire.
They had been living with Kayla on her estate for five years now, but if I were to tell you the story of how they met, you wouldn’t believe your ears, for it all began in another world.
A world called Earth; it was early evening, and everything seemed calm , well, as calm as a city can be in the early evening.
On a street, two young friends were walking to a party . Two men who’d been friends since nursery. As they walked, they passed a man.
A few years their senior, he greeted them as he caught up with them, and it was at that moment that everything in their lives was turned upside down.
Something incredible happened: a sphere appeared not far from them and grew until it was immense. They didn’t have time to react before they were swallowed up by this thing, which crushed their bodies, and then it vanished, leaving only fragments of them on the street.
They weren’t really aware of what had just happened to them, but they were together in this world of darkness, and then one day, they heard a voice.
They decided to head towards the voice, and the closer they got, the brighter the light became; after being momentarily dazzled, they discovered Professor Kayla.
She was telling off a pupil for his foolishness; they found it hard to understand at first, but after a moment, they realised that he had cast a teleportation spell which had sent him into the street where they were standing. Kayla gave him a punishment befitting his carelessness and asked him to leave the room, then she turned back to her guests.
She looked at them and asked them to forgive her for what had just happened to them, explaining that the boy responsible hadn’t meant for it to happen.
Two of them said it was no big deal, but the third had understood a little better what had happened to them, and when he pointed it out to them, the other two couldn’t believe it.
-What do you mean, we’re dead?
-Yes, can you feel your body?
- No, but there’s nothing to tell us we’re dead.
- I’m telling you, we’re floating in the air.
- We’re having a bad trip from some drug.
- You’re in a bit of denial.
- No, I’m not…
- Calm down . Yes, you’re dead; you only exist because I’m using a spell to keep you conscious.
- I told you so.
- No, that’s not possible.
- I was supposed to lose my virginity tonight.
The two of them were utterly devastated, whilst the third was equally saddened by the situation, but didn’t want to show it for fear of making things worse.
- Calm down, I’ve got a suggestion for you.
- What is it?
- I carried out an experiment a while ago on body creation.
- Creating bodies?
-Yes, I created bodies from scratch, but unfortunately I couldn’t create the souls, so they’re just empty shells.
She opened a door and led the three souls into her lab, where three bodies lay completely motionless on a huge table , two girls and a boy.
She explained to them very simply that, as they no longer had bodies, she was offering to seal their souls into these bodies.
It was as if to say they didn’t really have much of a choice , it was either a new body or the afterlife, so they eventually agreed.
- I’ll take the boy.
- Why? You’re keeping the boy for yourself.
- Because I’m a alpha man, a proper one.
His friend couldn’t believe what he’d just said, and the soul turned to the older man.
- I don’t mind, as long as I can feel the wind on my skin and the grass beneath my feet; you can choose first.
- I see.
He looked at his friend’s soul, which was now nothing more than a yellow sphere.
- That’s fine, but you’re not making fun of me, are you?
- Of course not.
Kayla sealed the first soul into the body of the young man, who was of a very ordinary build, neither fat nor thin and had black hair; he called himself Sylas.
She then sealed her friend into the body of one of the girls, a stunning figure with blonde and white hair who took the name Lunelle.
Finally, she finished with the last one, who was sealed into the body of a stunning black elf woman with long, black hair, who took the name Naïa.
That was how their new life began; for five years they learnt magic and discovered not only this world, but also their own bodies.
Until the day Lunelle burst into Naïa’s room, absolutely furious.
- L: What a bloody idiot that bloke is.
- N: What’s the matter now?
- L: Do you know what Sylas’s just told me?
- N: Well, knowing that idiot, I’d say he told you…
- L: He told me, mate.
- N: Ouch, you poor thing.
- L: But it’s been five years ! He just can’t get it into his head that I’m a woman.
- N: A very beautiful woman.
- L: Thanks
- N: Who’d be the object of desire for every bloke in the neighbourhood?
- L: Yes!
- N: A woman who wants to get pregnant and have children.
Lunelle turned round, looking shocked, and blushed deeply after hearing her friend’s words.
- L: But I don’t want to sleep with him.
- N: I believe you; you’re just his friend who doesn’t want to devour his athletic body.
- L: No, I don’t want to.
- N: So I can seduce him.
- L: Don’t you dare go near him!
She was so furious that her scream had alerted Kayla, who rushed straight up to their bedroom to see what was going on.
When she arrived, Lunelle was throwing pillows at Naïa, who was in fits of laughter.
- K: What on earth is going on?
- L: Naïa’s a pest!
- N: Lunelle’s frustrated because of Sylas!
- K: What?
She raised her hands and, with a single gesture, cast a spell that gently immobilised them.
- K: Right, which one of you is going to explain to me what’s going on?
One after the other, they explained the situation, which amused Kayla and comforted young Lunelle.
- K: I see love is a complex thing.
- N: Yes, especially with an idiot.
- K: Naïa!
- N: What? I’ve got nothing against the idea, but an idiot’s still an idiot.
- N: If he can’t manage to realise that Lunelle is a wonderful woman, that’s his loss.
Kayla looked at her tenderly and realised that Naïa treated Lunelle like a sister; she might get on her nerves, but she’d always be there for her.
She suspected that Lunelle felt the same way about her.
- K: I’ve got an idea, in a few days’ time, there’ll be a new moon.
- L: Yes, and?
- K: For this new moon, the lord has decided to organise a masked ball for the young people.
- N: A masked ball?
- K: Yes, it’s mainly so that young people can meet and start families.
- L: Isn’t that a bit odd?
- N: Yes, it’s basically a big date.
- K: I don’t know that word, ‘date’?
- N: It’s a romantic date.
- K: Yes, that’s it. I’ll get you dressed and you’ll look stunning.
- K: And Lunelle, you’ll have to charm Sylas, we’re agreed on that.
- L: Brilliant!
She was so happy that she started dancing around the bedroom, which amused Kayla and Naïa.
