I love that face “ last time I checked he has a penis” XD

Beeton

Oooh, this is gonna be good....

Andrea Andrew

I…accept that the characters are probably all bi/pan, but this feels like too much for our main protagonist.

FurFist

Love the smile on her face when confirming her mate is male, lol. It's also funny that this is a marriage therapy as well, lol.

Cirian

I wouldn't call it "too much". I think this is a reality check for her about what the job she wants will actually entail.

CocoLoco

I really wish there was a glossary. While I can approximate the meanings, I can never keep things straight.

Menthewarp

Neither can the protagonist 😜

Muddypaws

A Roko with a really nice rack!

Hedronal

I recall reading way back when that the cultural norm for this setting is "same sex for temporary, the other sex for permanent". Seems still canon that the default expectation is gay for play, straight for settling down.

Andrea Andrew

I hate that women like me who prefer women are still seen as temporarily dating women, but I need to marry a man.

I'd considered a while ago dropping this from the setting but I was told by literally everyone I shared it with that it was an interesting complication and should stay. The people of this setting don't generally consider what anyone "ought to do" or that sex is "for" anything as a part of this arrangement, only that it is what it is, and they react as such. Ideka is using "mate" technically as being part of a matebond, but matebonding isn't fully equivalent to our concept of marriage. There's no further mandates; matebonded individuals aren't even necessarily expected to live with, be sexually exclusive with, continue to have sex with, have kids with, or even communicate with each other, only that the bond encourages these things.
