Jesus...literally

Amazing Mr. X

I'm glad you're posting these, Rick.

Ry Roo

Love to be burdened with the weight of hellfire while trying to figure out the world. Just, god Rick ;;

Aulderbane

Woo, I'm going to the deepest pits of Hell~ XD

CsmicYote

Ah, the good ol Age of Accountability internal panic. At least for me it still wasn't as bad as the Unforgivable Sin panic

J. N. Squire

Ah yes, the good ol' Contradictions taught by people who don't realize them 😵‍💫

Vet

Heaven or Hell. Someone’s Hell could be someone else’s Heaven.

Matthew Crabtree

I never knew much about Church of Christ. Thanks for this insight into your life!

Edolon

I’m sorry you had to go through this, I hope the comic is helping you I never knew about this denomination, my views of Christianity was Lutheran so definitely a different angle, heck part of confirmation classes was learning about a couple other denominations and their differences and similarities.

Edolon

Or we allowed anyone that was baptized to take communion at our church, didn’t matter what denomination you are/were or how exactly the baptism was done

SenGrisane

It's almost as if it's some arbitrary rules made up by people who had no clue about the world, which then changed and mutated over 100s of years.

Kirk Findlay

So much contradiction. Sorry you went through that, must have been super confusing growing up.

Coyoty

But in portrait layout, not landscape.

jewbearidk

i dont think i will ever understand christianity, but the beef thats there between denominations i cant help but find mildly amusing on some level

Coyoty

By the time you learn the rules, it's Game Over.

Valerio

A life of faith Is a wasted life.

Marcwolf

Of Course the classic is "Where did Cain get a Wife From.."

Vet

I can agree. I have looked at all the religions finding so many similar views but each one casts the other as bad. I just believe in living a good life, treat everyone with respect as long they don't do stupid things, don't make their lives any harder than it is. Wrap up my time allotted and leave.

khantigre

holy crap that brought up memories. Rough ones...

rickgriffin

The stupidest part of that? When you get deep into apologetics, you have to pretend that all christianity is a united front. Sure, Baptists are going to hell because they get the bible wrong but they made "useful" materials for defending young earth creationism, so we're just going to ignore that for the time being... also god forbid you get into a spat with a different denomination in front of an atheist

Panzer

I remember asking at Sunday School one time if people who were born and died before Jesus were in heaven or not and got yelled at for asking questions. Which happened a lot to me as a kid now that I think about it. It really is a form of abuse to teach a kid that they and everyone they know may well burn in an eternal lake of fire, huh?

Cirian

Man, reading these just makes me want to get you some tea and wrap you in a blanket. :(

Aelius

Ooof... a lot of old memories (and anxieties) are coming back with these.

Leo G.

These sound very familiar… regardless of religion.

Blackspots

It occurs to me that Church of Christ is practically identical to the beliefs of Baptists, particularly fundamental independent Baptists (what I grew up under)

Christopher Cook

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you don’t have an incredible relationship with your parents.
