If prude Clay is stuck and they can't get him home, that's really not good for him. He'd be apart from his husband and his society. He's stuck in what, for him, is almost a nightmare alternate universe he didn't grow up in and doesn't understand completely.

Rick wouldn't do that in a story like this. They'll have a foursome and either he'll merge back with fewer issues, or he'll stay and be with himself and the other two, while helping the girl with her thesis. Or something similar. Honestly I think him staying split is the happiest ending. It's just more love going around! And he'll get used to being lewd, at least with those he loves. He'll understand that they care about him.
