With all due respect, buying stocks is only "like gambling" if you just dump money into a company you haven't researched or follow a fad. There's ways to mitigate risk like dollar cost averaging, buying mutual funds or ETFs. You can truly "gamble" with any purchase you make in life, but research, spreading your investment, and engaging in disciplined investing are tried and true methods of smartly engaging with the market.

This is true only to a certain extent imo. Mutual funds for example are run by professional money managers who make the investment choices for you, so yes there is still risk involved (of ending up with poor choices and poor investments). And that’s the thing, there is always risk which makes it closer to gambling to grow money than, say, saving to grow money. Some people would say there are tried and true methods of engaging with playing poker or blackjack to safely (as safely as possible) maximize a return and they’d be right, too; it’s still gambling lol. Also especially with apps like the mentioned Robinhood many people ARE just dumping money into companies they haven’t researched and following fads then losing everything. It’s a gamble. But ofc that is just my opinion. Plenty of people decide it’s worth the risk. I just ultimately have a problem with shareholders, stockholders and investors being seen as more valuable than workers in a company.
