New Lilith, Underworld

–Serafall Leviathan—

She had no idea what the fuck was going on. One moment, they were on their way to meet Odin and Magdaran about Sirzech’s issue, and how they could resolve or atleast reduce his pain in some way, only for Odin and Ajuka to do some telepathic bullshit, and for that to somehow result in Ajuka waking up one day and killing off most of the Old Satan Faction.

The entire Senate was in uproar about that, and to this day, almost a week after the news broke out, she still received many angry letters. They had stopped coming in person after she had made sure to teach a few of the unwieldy ones a few lessons. The only one who still came in person was Lord Agares, and he was not someone she could rebuff so easily. The man knew how to work politics, and more frustratingly, was polite and understanding.

That made it really hard for her to ignore him or continue the most important task at hand. Finding out what made Ajuka do what he did. Hence, her daily visits to Ajuka’s labs, all so she could find something.

There had been news of some movement and battle in Grigori HQ, and that Azazel was involved in battle and was likely severely injured, which felt odd considering that there was no visible damage done to Grigori or their operations anywhere in the world. So, she chalked that off to some internal conflict that needed Azazel to step in personally. She had just sent a quick checking in message to Azazel, just in case the Fallen Angel needed her help.

After all, she needed all the allies she could get right now, and as far as allies went who would not backstab her and shared a similar goal, Azazel was a good option.

“Satan Leviathan.” Lord Agares greeted her as he arrived with a report in his hand, his smile looking a bit off. The last time, he had come with a deadline that if she did not approve of an investigation into Satan Belzebub’s actions, then he would take matters into his own hands. She had reluctantly created an internal investigation committee, knowing full well it was going to be a waste of time, but it seemed like the Agares knew that too and had done his own due diligence.

“Lord Agares. What do you have for me today?”

“I have unconfirmed reports of Azazel being put into a coma by one of his own people. I have unconfirmed reports of said person breaking out of Grigori grounds. I also have reports of—- I think it will be better if you see it yourself.”

Hmm. The expression on his face was a bit strained, and he did look somewhat pale. Also, the fact that he had these reports even before she did meant he had a rather impressive information network, or maybe he took over what remained of Zekram’s massive network spanning most Pantheons? It would actually be better if that had happened, as Agares was far more agreeable and cooperative than Zekram ever was.

Lucifer, was she glad that the old fuck was gone for good!

Either way, Lord Agares was acting oddly, so she took the file, opened the first page, and read through the unconfirmed medical reports about Azazel, her eyes growing wide as she saw the sheer damage done. Well, if she hadn’t already known that Azazel not only had sizable reserves of Phenex Tears but also had access to Magdaran, who could do excellent healing, she would have been worried. As it was now, she was far more worried about Ajuka’s actions, so—

Her thoughts stuttered to a halt as she looked at the written reports about the name of the prisoner. Vali Lucifer.

Now, the name was not alien to her. She had long since known that Azazel had somehow rescued or smuggled the newest Lucifer from the Underworld, and had raised her in secret, to the point that Vali had grown to reach Satan Class before she had even reached her second decade of growth.

A Monster just like the rest of the Lucifer bloodline.

But why would she fight Azazel and then be put in prison? As far as she was aware, Azazel basically looked at her like she was his daughter, and more than that, Vali had been a part of Grigori for over a decade, and it did not seem like anything had changed for her to break out into a fight.

An interesting thing that she could have used in the next round of negotiations with the Grigori that always seemed to be on the corner, but right now, she was far more occupied with–

She choked as she read what was written on the last page, and if her breath left her looking at the text, then her entire body slumped as she looked at the moving picture right beneath the wall of text. It was clearly something that was extracted from the memory of someone, likely one of the guards of that prison.

She didn’t even have the presence of mind to read through the description below the image. Her eyes were glued to the moving picture of a Silver Mass of Light, floating in the air, before it disappeared.

The earlier reports and this, all of it just confirmed one thing. It did not help that the report had explicitly stated that the only one on the tire prison floor was just Vali Lucifer.

Lucifer. Demonic Brilliance of Evil Light.

Two things that she never thought she would see together in her life. That particular bloodline trait was spoken of in hushed tones, even now, with reverence and awe clear in their voices. Even her parents, the Gremorys, and more looked at the original Lucifer with reverence, even if they did not agree with his actions. Basically, any Devil that had been alive when the Morningstar was alive and in action, they would instinctively have worship towards the Lucifer name.

It had originally been one of their fears after the Civil War. If Rizevim Lucifer had come out of seclusion then, and expressed his desire to rule over Devil society, then they would have had no chance of ever steering the Underworld away from its path at the time. It was probably also why Ajuka had taken the steps he had, and locked Rizevim in a series of steps.

Did Ajuka foresee her coming as well? If so, was this the better situation?

“Does this have anything to do with Ajuka’s actions?”

She looked up in confusion before her eyes widened. “You think she is part of the Old Satan faction?”

Lord Agares shrugged. “Could be. Could be that Ajuka removed that option before it even entered her mind. Either way, we now have a Lucifer descendant with the Demonic Brilliance of Evil Light away from the Underworld, colluding with the Fallen. I don’t have to overstate the importance of such a thing becoming public.”

Her fists clenched as she realised the potential impact of this piece of information becoming public. Especially since–

The Agares leaned forward, his voice deathly serious, “I am sure you realise it. Sirzechs has to come out and address everyone. That is non-negotiable right now. He has to know that there is another contender for his seat now. After all, as I see things, Sirzechs might have an upper hand in strength, but this?” He tapped the files in her hand.

“--This trumps his strength any day. There will be riots, revolts, and I dare say, a Civil War if the situation is not handled properly.”

The man stood up after giving her an ultimatum and dropping such a bomb on her. He turned to leave but paused and looked down at her. “Oh, and Serafall, while I understand that you guys prefer stability over everything else. I would strongly recommend against any preemptive action against Vali Lucifer. Not only might you fail and gain us a very dangerous enemy, but you might also lose the support of many Pillar Houses. Think about it.”

Saying so, the man left, leaving her staring blankly into nothing, her mind simply not computing the fact that she now had to deal with this as well.

Still, the Demonic Brilliance of Evil Light, huh?

Great. Just fucking Great.

Grigori Medical Facilities

—Azazel—

His eyes snapped open, a strong current coursing through him, making him seize up due to the electricity coursing through him. He glared at Baraqiel, his light coming up sluggishly to ward off the attack as he woke up, his form smoking slightly.

He was about to tear a new one into Baraqiel, only to pause as he noticed the crowd in the room. Penemue, Shemzahai, Baraqiel. All in the room, looking at him with relief and fear. Yet, the fear was not about him. He could tell that much. Baraqiel took a step back and handed him a coat, as he declined it and used his magic instead, instantly realising that he was not back at one hundred percent.

So, these guys had broken protocol and had woken him up after administering the Phenex Tears. The tears themselves only healed physical wounds, and judging by the way his magic was not back at full, he had been working up prematurely. They were only to do so in case of an extreme emergency. Atleast he had all his limbs back in working order now, and from the looks of it, it was his original leg as well. They hadn't used the cloned ones he kept in storage just in case one of his limbs was entirely vaporised and could not be retrieved to be attached later on using Phenex Tears.

“Speak. What happened?”

Baraqiel spoke first, which was entirely uncharacteristic for him. “It’s Vali. She’s escaped the Prisons.”

Ah, that. Well, there was nothing shocking in that. He had known that Vali was going to heal faster than he ever could. Even without the Phenex Tears, Vali’s body had been conditioned by the unholy combination of Thor and Magdaran to be ridiculously hard to damage, and when her body was damaged in some way, to be healed ridiculously fast later on.

“She has the Demonic Brilliance of Evil Light now.”

He froze on the spot, his brows furrowing, as he looked at Penemue’s serious face, before his hand shot out, waving in the air as he instantly accessed the Grigori wide information retention facilities he had installed. His access got him to the Prison floor instantly, and oddly enough, all the magical energy sensors were fried after a high energy event.

A sinking feeling entered his heart as he switched to video feed, a holographic feed appearing in front of him, showing the entirely empty Prison floor save for Vali, with Baraqiel talking to the guards, presumably.

One moment, there was no issue, and the next, a Silver Mass of Light came out of the Prison cell, melting the reinforced cells as if there was nothing there.

His entire body tensed instinctively at the sight of that terrible, terrible Light. It brought back memories. Bad memories.

“When was this?!” He whirled around to look at Baraeil. Odin did not tell him about this. What the fuck!?

Since when did Vali have the signature ability of the Lucifer House?

“A few hours ago. We have no idea where she went.” He ignored the rest of Baraqiel’s words as he immediately contacted Odin, or at least tried to. His message would not get through.

Where would Vali go after this? She would not go to the Old Satan Faction. She was smarter than that. Then again, he had already been proven wrong once. If not them, then….

His eyes widened in terror as he realised where Vali could go next.

Rizevim.

Drunk on her power, Vali was just the right kind of stupid to try and take on Rizevim.

Rushing out of the room, he ignored everyone’s shouting as he had to reach his office. He had to contact Serafall for this. He had to know what had happened to Odin’s and likely Ajuka’s plan to deal with Rizevim, or if Vali was a part of that plan or not.

I swear to Father, if Odin had foreseen even this and had declined to tell him, then….

Don't worry I think Odin only saw till Vali was in prison, said evil light sounds like a perfect counter to divine divination.
