UN, New York City

–Mike–

See. He was kind of confused as to how to address the people who represented the entire world, effectively. He was pretty sure that over 99% of the population on the planet had some kind of representative here. Now, whether that representative was actually representing the people or the people in power from that country was up for debate. What was true, however, was that most countries had a person with a flag here, so this was perhaps the best way to address the world in its entirety.

The other option was to use Xavier and his amplifier power to make sure his message reached every corner of the Earth. While that would have been efficient and made sure that nothing could truly alter, distort, or delete his message, it would have also been an easy excuse for most of the world to use to rally the masses against him.

Now, while he was not scared of the politicians, or even the hidden powers pushing their agendas, he would be pretty worried if somehow, by some miracle, everyone managed to band together against mutants.

Humans were a really effective bunch if all of them banded together, and he intended to make sure that after today, even the thought of that happening would seem preposterous. He did want to live in a mostly peaceful world, after all, and while it was possible to win against the world, he liked this iteration of this world and would like for it to progress organically.

Shaking his head, he ignored the dozens of panicked agents around him, whispering and, in one case, screaming into their phones as he looked at the massive door in front of him. It seemed majestic, and likely had some sort of long history behind it, so, this time, instead of shearing it using his wind, he pushed it open, and the first thing he saw was the backs of multiple big backed agents getting off the ground, looking at him with wariness.

He snorted at the stupidity of the people who were entrusted to guard important people from all over the world. They really thought they could use these agents to stop him? Or maybe this was some sort of ploy to show him as some sort of mutant brute who only knew how to use his physical power to push people around instead of engaging in meaningful diplomacy?

Possible.

Moving on, he floated above the heads of the agents, and the way he saw one of them try to bash his head into his floating feet, he knew that this was some kind of negative PR stunt. He just made sure the man couldn’t even move his neck for a moment before moving on towards the podium, ready to show the world what was happening in the background.

A flex of his power had wind currents taking hold of the three cameras that were not pointed in his direction before he spoke up, floating high up in the air, dressed in a casual T-shirt, smiling straight at the cameras, trusting Xavier to pick the best looking camera angle, “Greetings!”

Floating over to the podium, he gave the man at the helm a look who looked quite flustered about the whole situation, and took too long to respond, so he just made the man float away, creating a flailing situation that was thankfully quickly resolved as he just deposited the old man into the nearest seat, lest they have a bathroom situation on hand. Things like that did happen at that age, so he was not going to judge him for that.

Smiling at the cameras, he could hear the pin drop silence in the room, along with the absolutely massive movement occurring right outside this room, with guns being locked in, and in one particularly interesting case, energy weapons being activated as well, with well over a hundred people converging on this location from the outside.

He wondered what these people were smoking if they could only respond to his presence when he entered the place, instead of being present here long before he entered here? Or was it some sort of ploy as well?

“Xavier. Anything suspicious? Any minds you cannot read here?”

“I can read everyone’s mind. All of them are clean. There might be a bomb here, but these people have no idea about it.”

His gaze locked directly onto T’Chaka’s eyes before he replied to Xavier over the mental link.

“That is fine. Continue your work. I am sure other people have scanned the place top to bottom.”

“Yes, I don’t think anyone wants you to have an international incident on your first outing as the King.”

He hung up on Xavier as he continued speaking.

“Hello to everyone watching from home. I am Mike. Yes, that is just Mike. No last name. I just wanted to come up here and greet you all. When I got the notice to attend the UN, I was initially going to refuse, but then I realised that the world does not really know me. Not truly. You just know me as the one who almost ended the world. Focus on almost.”

He grinned at everyone who looked at him with aghast faces, with some of them speaking furiously into their phones, or tapping into their little glass rectangles, in hopes that they could do something.

The calmest one so far was King T’Chakka, King of Wakanda, and as such, the most powerful person in this room, after him, of course.

He continued, “Anyway. Let’s get started. As I am sure that most of the countries on the planet have a representative here, I would like to take questions now. Now I know that I was called here to answer some questions in the first place, but I don’t really like being commanded, and as such, I have done an UNO Reverse on everyone here and decided to have an impromptu Q&A here.”

Then, he smiled and made a show of looking at anyone and everyone, before he got really tired of waiting on anyone to ask him the question, so he just went for the goal and pointed at the Wakandan delegation, with the King as well as the Dora Milaje disguised as diplomats.

“You! You seem like someone who would ask me real questions instead of sitting there mum. Please! Ask me something, anything!”

Man, it was so fun playing this useless diva!

The man looked unfazed at being called out, as well as becoming the centre of attention of the entire room. Though, being the King of Wakanda, T’Chaka probably thought nothing of the people sitting in here with him.

The diplomats sitting beside him were made to stand up, only for T’Chaka to pull her down, before standing up himself, much to the visible confusion of everyone in his delegation, before they realised that he was their King and, as such, his decision was final, so all of them schooled their expressions and began doing the task they were doing before being called out. Protecting their King and watching for any threats, which was kinda pointless since he was the biggest threat in the room.

“I am King T’Chaka,” The man introduced himself. He nodded to that, as the King took a breath and then continued, “So far, I have seen a man with immense power, unguided, and seemingly spreading chaos wherever he goes. Your stunt in the Indian Ocean resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people across the world. Your mere existence has been a security nightmare. You have seemingly unlimited powers, as well as a world ending monster under your grasp.

And now, you have seemingly decided to create a nation of your own, on a whim no less. All I see is a man who plays at being a responsible being, but is not one in the slightest. So, I have one question to ask you -

Why are you here?”

He had slowly lost some of his smile as T’Chaka continued to speak, only for that smile to return in full force as he realised that he would not have to speak for dozens of people to get to the point. The King of Wakanda had just shortened his work for him.

SHIELD Control Room

–Phil Coulson–

He couldn't help but let out a soft, “Damn!” as he watched King T’Chaka rip Mike a new one. He spied the forehead vein on Director Fury as he realised that while the whole question was kind of badass, the situation could truly spin out of control at the whims of a single person.

Worse, there truly was no way to contain the fallout, as even now, they were unable to wrestle back control from Xavier, not without injuring the people who were supposed to work for them. The nuclear option was still there, and he was sure that Director Fury was debating using it right now, but the situation did not look truly irredeemable right now, so they were holding off on it, for now.

Mike smiled at the question before replying, “You are right.”

The answer made the Director lean forward in interest.

“You are right that my actions led to the deaths of all those people. I own up to that. There is no excuse for my actions. That is one of the few things I truly regret doing. All I can tell you is that the day was a horrible one, and it was truly out of my control. I know it won’t satisfy you, but that is the answer I have for that right now.

As for your other claim, you are correct as well. I have spread chaos everywhere I went. That is true. I do have more than enough power; that part is also true. Seemingly, I have everything, and from your perspective, me coming here to gloat about that power must make me an arrogant being.

Now, the truth is that I just want to be left alone.”

The cameras showed King T’Chaka looking confused at Mike’s reply, as Mike continued.

“Anyway, I chose to make a nation, for mutants specifically, because I wanted to be left alone, and I could relate to mutants because most of them also want to be left alone but could not, because of many reasons. I have all this power, and as King T’Chaka said, I was without a purpose before. Not now, though.”

The man grinned at the King, whose entire delegation looked like they would prefer to be anywhere but there, on the other end of Mike.

“I have a purpose now. I have a place I can call home now. I have people of my own, who I have rescued with my own strength, and I have given them the choice to leave as well. I will strive to make sure that people who put their trust in me will be repaid that and more a hundredfold over.”

“Coulson,” Fury said, “Make sure you have pulled out all our agents from the area. We don’t want a single agent of ours around that island. Also, make sure all assets in the region are for surveillance only. DO NOT ENGAGE.”

He was slightly confused by the orders, as they were not different from the ones already given to all the people in the area, but he made sure to repeat them once more, as per the orders given.

Then, he saw as Mike continued, “Now, I was building my own nation, not as a despot, mind you, when I received news of a UN notice. I just want a cool place to live in, and I want to build it as well. I read through the notice, and realised that I don't really have a global outreach program. I am sure all of you knew what I was doing, but the wider public does not, does it?”

Mike then grinned straight at the camera when he said the last bit, giving him an incredibly bad feeling.

Before he could even get a word out, there was a spike in activity all around him, as the analysts received something and put it on the big screen immediately, making his face lose all color as he saw what was being displayed on the screen, in excruciating detail.

He heard multiple people emptying the contents of their stomachs onto the floor, as he barely controlled himself from doing so. The clenched fists of Director Fury told him what the man was feeling as well, as they looked at the atrocities being committed on mutant kind all around the world.

He had known about the facilities around the world, about the shadow networks, about the trafficking, about the experimentation, about the mass unmarked graves, about the irregularities in marine life around some coasts in Africa, and more. But he had always read about them in a report, and that too about the cases that he was allowed to look at.

All of this? This was above his pay grade, and likely for a reason as well. He had always known what was happening to mutant kind around the world, but for all of that to be thrown in his face was creating something else.

The atmosphere in the UN changed abruptly, as everything was being displayed on the various screens in the Assembly. King T’Chaka’s face tightened a bit, but he showed no other reaction, even if the rest of his delegation looked about ready to rush forward and kill someone.

Mike was no longer smiling as he snapped his fingers, as the broadcast was stopped. Fury turned around and ordered, "Everyone, get yourselves together! Get me the location of the transmitted data. Make sure the videos are analysed to death. There must be something inside there. Get me anything you can find!”

Saying so, Fury turned around and resumed looking at Mike, even as he looked at the analysts in concern. Some of them looked about ready to resign at the prospect of watching all those video clips dozens of times to make sure that nothing was missed.

“Sir,” His voice trailed off as Fury glared at him with his eye, the forehead vein even more prominent now, “Right. I’ll shut up now.”

–Mike–

He looked at the cameras before replying, “That is what is happening in the background. People disappearing is not the end of those people. This is where they end up. I have found people from all over the world, of all ages, being subjected to what I could not even fathom, and have saved them. I will continue doing so, no questions about it.

The day I saw the joy on a kid’s face when he did not have to look at everyone else’s faces when they were done eating their food, because he had never been able to trust the food he ate, was the day I got my purpose.

Sure, it is naive, and I will never be able to remove evil from this world, but I can do my part in reducing it. I am of the opinion that an evil act done to remove evil does not reduce evil in the world, but only if the number of evil people in the world remains the same. No one ever said anything about one man doing all the removing.”

He then looked right at T’Chaka, “Now, as for your question, I came here for two reasons mainly. Until now, the world has only seen a curated version of me. An incomplete picture, so to speak. Now you have seen the truth of what happens in the world, and that I am working on countering that, and how I am more than capable of doing so.

With that done, however, I also have a proposal to the world. While I would love nothing more than to stay in an isolated bubble, unconcerned about the rest of the world, unfortunately that is simply not possible. So, I am here with a business proposition. Something that is entirely unique to my country.”

Here, he got off the podium and made a show of looking around before floating towards the doors he used to enter here. They did look like they were the largest doors he would find in this building.

Basically perfect for his purposes.

Stepping in front of the door, he looked at the interested people before fishing the Key out of his pocket and, after finding no keyhole to put it in, shrugged and simply thrust the key into the door, grinning as it latched onto something before he twisted the key, turning the massive door into one big whitish portal to his Beach Pocket Dimension.

Right now, it was void of any living being, save for the fishes in the ocean. The only thing of importance was a rock.

Turning around, he raised an index finger in the signature wait-a-moment gesture, before stepping into the portal. He could feel the agents hovering around the portal, but not stepping in, which was prudent of them.

Looking at the massive piece of rock he had lying around in the middle of the beach, he grinned and picked it up with one hand, and after gauging the size of the portal, walked back towards the Assembly, making all the agents backpedal quickly.

Stepping out of the portal, he retrieved the key, slipped it into his pocket before flying up to the Podium, the piece of rock still in his hand.

He also spied T’Chaka’s reaction to the rock, and just as he expected, the same King who did not flinch in the face of a Viltrumite, looked shell-shocked at the piece of rock he had in his hands.

Speaking into the Mic, “Now, where was I? Ah, yes. The carrot, so to speak. See, I don’t know if everyone knows or not, but I am capable of traversing our solar system with ease. Yup, no rocket, no space suit, no bulky resource ships. Nothing. Just me flying buck naked throughout space. Ah, you don’t believe me? There.” he snapped his fingers and broadcast multiple censored videos of him flying buck naked about the solar system.

“Anyway, you guys can look at those later, or have your people look at them later on. That’s not important. What is important is this!”

He held the rock above his head, Spirit Bomb style. “This is unrefined Vibranium Ore. Imported straight from the Asteroid Belt. I estimate just about 1 ton of Vibranium out of this. Also, it took me approximately a day to go there, find this, and then come back safely. I also know the locations of dozens more.”

He grinned, clearly enjoying the people who were up until now silent, but were now clamoring for more information.

“I offer you people and your nations - Discounted travel to space, both ways. Resource gathering. Energy gathering. Moon bases. Space stations. Space tourism. All that and more. You just have to contact my country for that. Unfortunately, I don’t offer my services as an individual.”
