Somewhere on Earth Bet

–Simon–

Not gonna lie, watching the culmination of a ton of his efforts in having prevented the cause of a big chunk of the damage done in any Leviathan attack was quite nice. It felt like all his hard work was not going to go down the drain, and his sacrifice as well, since he was going to have to sacrifice the current Helicarrier, irrespective of the result of this battle.

Noting the shield integrity, he was satisfied to see that despite the bigger waves slamming into the force field, all the components were fine, and even though the Arc Reactors were running at full tilt, it was not because the force fields needed all that energy. It was for another reason entirely, but it would have taken quite a bit for all of them to amp up to the required level, and for the other components to adjust to that much power coursing through it, so he had just kept them running at full tilt and just shunted the extra energy into the ground.

A second wave slammed into the forcefield, which was shaped like a wall, as the waves dispersed, showing him that the water level around the Bay returned to its usual levels, with the calmness returning to the water. Alas, this was not the final wave. As long as that scaly bastard was swimming around the city, he could raise any number of waves.

It was just that Leviathan needed time to get some of the bigger waves going. He needed time and, more importantly, distance into the sea to create some of those tsunami-like waves, and now that he was robbed of that weapon, the damage Leviathan could do in terms of property damage was somewhat reduced.

The cape casualties could still remain the same, as the bastard was capable of manipulating water and turning it into razor thin strings that could turn any cape that did not have a Brute 8 or above rating into red mist instantly. So, the next thing in the plan was to push Leviathan back into the sea.

The Triumvirate were told that once Leviathan broke through the forcefield, they were supposed to take charge, while the Helicarrier took potshots, but in truth, he knew that was never going to work, so he was going to use an experimental weapon that he hoped did not gain the attention of Scion, as it would be game over instantly.

Instead, he watched as the Helicarrier shifted and moved as the biggest weapon on board was activated. It wasn’t even supposed to be there, but this Helicarrier was where he had stored the experimental weapon before he had moved on to building the Megazord because he had come to the conclusion that it was more important to make sure that Leviathan could be held in place with something than just building a weapon that could do some serious damage to Leviathan.

There was no point in firing a super weapon at Leviathan when the Endbringer was agile enough to dodge anything thrown at it and then demolish the Helicarrier for good measure. Plus, if he missed, then Leviathan was not going to give him or anyone else another chance. They were all sandbagging, and any credible threat to their power would just make them draw more power from the shard known as High Priest and demolish that threat.

Sighing, he watched as Leviathan finally became visible, having gotten its scaly and ugly ass out of the water for long enough for its misshapen face to be visible, with its four glowing green eyes.

He watched as the multiple drones floating inside the ship, manning the connections manually because he could not trust the energy coursing through the wires not to fry any and all automated mechanisms, simply began to melt off, due to the amount of heat being packed into that small space.

The Arc Reactors, running at full tilt, generated quite a bit of heat, and with all power diverted to the weapon, the housings began to overheat a bit, concerning the capes who were watching from below.

Well, the housings were melting, but hopefully, they should not be a problem any longer. Once this attack happened, the next in line was the Helicarrier itself.

Sure, if he had no idea about Scion or the Entities, then he would have just asked Legend to bring Flechette along, and after doing some deep scanning, had her stab Leviathan in the core, and solve the Endbringer problem once and for all. Alas, he knew that telling them about Flechette might just result in her death. The Endbringers, while a big problem, were not the biggest problem, so he had to save Flechette for last, as her role was indispensable for the final battle against Scion.

A Repulsor array drawing massive amounts of power from multiple Giant Arc Reactors was already capable of deleting anything in a small radius, but a supermassive Repulsor array that was drawing energy from four massive Arc Reactors, with the fifth one running everything else and keeping the Helicarrier in the air despite the immense amount of force being exerted on the flying ship from the waves, should be something else.

It should be enough, but he had no idea what would happen beyond a massive explosion, as he had never tested it beforehand. Physics also got really wonky at that level, and the amount of energy he was pumping into that array meant that more likely than not, there was simply not going to be any precise targeting measures with the weapon.

Thankfully, as long as the attack went forward and actually targeted a wide enough area, it should be enough to hit Leviathan.

The Triumvirate were ready to move on after the attack, as he looked at the red button that popped up in front of him, along with a really jittery target circle that was trying to lock down on Leviathan’s swimming form, but by the very nature of its swimming, it was not advancing in a straight line.

He waited a couple of seconds for the algorithm to latch onto something, but when it could not do so, he sighed and just pressed the button, as the Arc Reactor temperatures spiked even more, along with loss of data and video feed from many parts of the Helicarrier as the energy spike demolished many parts of the Helicarrier, and its internals.

He got dozens of energy spike warnings from the suits that were close by, as the Repulsor array fired a wide beam that broke through the forcefield erected to stop the waves, and while he could not see the waves, he was sure that the water got no chance to surge forward, because it must be vaporised.

The sensor suite he had access to, from both his suits deployed around the Helicarrier, as well as the sensor units that Dragon had around the site, gave him nothing but gibberish for a few seconds, before the video feeds began clearing up, as the blinding white began receding.

He winced as he saw the radioactive warnings, as well as the massive chunk of the ocean floor now visible to them, as the repulsor wave deleted everything in front of it.

The Helicarrier’s form hunched forward, as the front part of the whole boat was now simply molten slug, due to being in so close proximity to an attack that should have, at least in his opinion, inflicted severe injuries on Leviathan.

As Dragon issued a new set of warnings about the water, the air, and the Helicarrier, he searched for the scaly Endbringer, curious about the end result of his attack. From up above, he got data from satellites that the attack had worked as expected, sending out a wide array beam of repulsor energy, instead of being a targeted beam, and slamming into the area Leviathan was in.

There was some movement on Leviathan's end before everything just went static, as the sheer amount of energy in the air made sensing anything hard. The sea of white was quite awe-inspiring.

Thankfully, even though there was some background radiation created because the repulsors probably warped, or due to some odd interaction of the repulsor arrays with Arc Energy, there was no mushroom cloud, and even the trace amounts of radiation were rapidly coming back down.

The Four Arc Reactors were barely holding onto the frame of the Helicarrier, as they had to enter a lower energy state to prevent another buildup of energy that could result in an explosion. As the fifth one pushed the Helicarrier forward, the repulsor arrays working in tandem to make sure the massive boat did not simply fall out of the sky.

After all, even if he was not sure of the extent of injuries due to the energy attack, he knew full well that Leviathan was still alive, so he doubted that he could make good use of the now almost destroyed Helicarrier before the entire thing gave out under its own weight.

The Triumvirate were clearly confused as to what was happening, as Dragon told all of them to stand back and let the Helicarrier do its job before jumping in, as the massive Helicarrier that was majestic just a scant few minutes ago hobbled forward.

And just as expected, Dragon found Leviathan swimming forward, underwater, as the bastard moved so smoothly that the surface water wasn’t even disturbed. Leviathan surfaced a few moments later, and he grinned at the obvious burn marks on its entire body.

The rushing water had brought its primary weapon back into play, but right now, it did not have the sheer mass and energy that Tsunami waves had, and was also pretty battered up. One half of its face was simply gone, and two of its four lights had gone dim. Only two of them were glowing green, and if he was not imagining things, that glow had gotten dim as well.

There were burn marks all over its body, but one of its arms was far smaller than the other, looking as if something had sucked all the mass out of it.

So, Leviathan had likely used that side to shield most of its mass from the repulsor attack. Noting that down, he watched as Leviathan emerged out of the war and stood on its legs, with its tail swishing behind it, its two glowing eyes looking straight up at the approaching form of the Helicarrier.

The Helicarrier’s targeting systems were not working properly, so he had it switch over to the targeting algos as they correctly latched onto the next best sensor suite available, which was the energy sensors, accurately targeting the biggest mass of energy in front of it, which was Leviathan.

The amount of energy stored in that small form was off the charts.

The Helicarrier dove sharply, aimed directly at the Endbringer, as the other four Arc Reactors were all turned on abruptly, bypassing every single emergency safety measure built into the Arc Reactor housings.

Unfortunately, Leviathan did not just stand around and wait for the Helicarrier to crash into it, as its tail swiped at the water behind it, and when it came out, it held onto multiple big balls of water that were flicked at the Helicarrier.

The front of the Helicarrier simply gave way to the water balls as it was in no position to withstand an attack of that magnitude, but that told him that Leviathan had no intelligence here, as it should have targeted the visible Arc Reactors that were now audibly spooling to life, overcharging themselves to hurt Leviathan even more.

The Helicarrier’s repulsor arrays burned themselves out one by one, as the Helicarrier was simply moving towards Leviathan with the help of gravity at this point.

Leviathan, unfortunately for it, understood what to do simply too late, as it began cutting through the Helicarrier, cutting it into multiple smaller pieces, as the debris just rained down in front of Leviathan, as its gaze slid from the ruined Helicarrier to the city, where the majority of the capes were waiting, with the Triumvirate floating at the forefront.

It hurt immensely to watch the Helicarrier be turned into mincemeat, but it pleased him to watch the number of evacuated people finally reach 99%, as the overloaded Arc Reactors reached critical status before they exploded.

Thankfully, he’d already sent away a few Quinjets, holding onto the Merchant capes, the E88 capes, as well as the vault that held Noelle. He might hate the villainous capes, and their refusal to fight in an Ebdinger battle for their own home might have made him hate them a bit more, but he was not going to just let them die needlessly.

So, before all of this, he had sent out three Quinjets, all escorted, more so in the case of Noelle, to make sure that he did not unleash a smaller disaster in the name of stopping a bigger disaster.
