The title “DAM” is a play on the Filipino word “pakiramdam,” meaning “feeling” in English. The song is described as encapsulating SB19’s “unrelenting drive for purpose, ambition, and legacy,” touching on topics of “staying true to one’s values and principles amidst the sacrifice required to achieve greater dreams in career and life.” For the quintet, the heavy-hitting track is “a testament to the price of success in a world that often demands more than one is willing to give.” Like this was the general consensus on the meaning of the song and it plays out in the MV as the five of them being a part of a prophecy to sacrifice themselves for the greater good of the people

Like with all their stuff, they leave it open to interpretation. This era is the last part of a trilogy that began with the EP Pagsibol (which means 'sprouting' and was symbolised with a question mark), continued with Pagtatag ('strengthening', symbolised with an exclamation mark), and ends now with Simula at Wakas ('beginning and end', symbolised by a full stop). In the art for this era, and at the end of the MV, you'll see an apple to symbolise the full stop. However, the full stop can also be a seed, and is present inside the apple. So even though this is an end, it's also a beginning. In the MV, after Justin touched the dead tree (which you might remember from the Pagtatag EP trailer, where it was still alive), he saw that in order to save the people, he needed the book that you see at the start of the MV. So he used his powers and eventually found it buried under Josh's treasure. The book showed that the 5 of them would have to sacrifice themselves to bring life back to the tree. Which they do, and when the people break through the gate and see the tree alive and bearing fruit, it's up to them to decide what to do with the second chance they've been given. So again, it's a beginning and an end. There are lot of other theories too, like how their characters reflect aspects of their lives IRL (Josh hoarding wealth when IRL he grew up experiencing poverty; Stell trapping the good side of himself in a mirror when IRL he's been bashed for his visuals, etc.). But yeah, it's open to interpretation! I'm really glad you liked the song + MV. <3

First of all, I'm back here on Patreon. I know you dont take requests or recommendation - but their album SIMULA AT WAKAS contains you can enjoy on your free time. QUIT and TIME are definitely opposite of DAM and DUNGKA - they will make you cry. Hehehe For the story, I think as per Pablo, it is about their frustration before of always pushing for more and suddenly you cant reach the goal. "How does it feel?" Never Ending Desire. Climbing endless stairs. Something like that.
