The actress is doing such a phenomenal job that Lydia has skyrocketed to #1 as my favorite character right now. I can see her every thought and guilt on her face and I truly just feel for her. She's also kind of funny in her own way, it's very endearing. She also brings out the best in Daryl and I really appreciate that cause for a while Daryl was just grunting in silence. It's good to see him be an actual person again

I LOVE the song in the intro and ending, such a good song. It’s called Heaven I Know by Gordi. Guys the empty spot at dinner was for Carol, hence why Daryl brought her the food, WITH A CHEROKEE ROSE on the tray!!! Such a nice callback. Also the we should have gone to New Mexico scene was nice. I just love them so much! Poor Sidiq. I feel so so badly for him. Him sticking his face in the ice water was a tactic to shock his brain back to normal from the PTSD. LOL at the Ezekiel/Michonne kiss. Thats actually a call to the comic, where they are a couple. So I always took Negan’s bond with Lydia as uncle/niece. I like the understanding they have about being outsiders. I think it’s really sweet that he stopped them from hurting her more and I would have hoped the consul would have saw that it was an accident that Negan killed the girl. Daryl and Lydia!!! This bond is actually the sweetest. How he steps up and is basically an adoptive dad for her or at the very least a father figure. And it’s not like she’s a kid she’s a teenage girl so that’s a rough age to begin with and how he’s there for her. The scene in the infirmary with them is actually so beautiful. Fun fact: the hug in that scene was improvised by Norman Reedus and it actually made Cassady McClincy, who plays Lydia, break down in sobs, I love how much more authentic and raw it makes the scene. I also love how Lydia calls the door “our door” as to acknowledge that she does in fact live with Daryl, in case people didn’t connect that. She had me cracking up with that squirrel and Daryl being all yeah I know they deserved it and it’s not like I wasn’t tearing into animals when I first got here but you literally can’t do that. But also I wish she would let him defend her, I get why not because she’s a teenager but still. Lastly the way Daryl respects her feelings, like even though he knows she doesn’t belong in the cell he gives in and just respects her thought process if that’s where she feels safe in the moment like he knows if it was him he would probably have a similar reaction.

I feel bad for Siddiq in this episode seeing him struggle with his PTSD from what the Whisperer’s did. But truthfully I feel really bad for Lydia…in my opinion the only way I see Lydia being the “cause for all the bad things happening between The Whisperer’s and our group” is simply because she met Henry, ended up liking him and not only did he go after her once Alpha took Lydia back, but she escaped with Henry again when Daryl and Connie came to the rescue because she no longer wanted to be a part of the Whisperer’s group. And I just can’t really justify that being a real reason why it’s her fault because I don’t really think she is at fault. She grew up with a psychopathic abusive and mentally manipulative mother. She was pretty much brainwashed for the majority of her time growing up in the apocalypse into believing that living with the Whisperer’s was truly the only way to live. Again, reiterating something that Michonne had said before back in season 9 “Lydia can’t help where she came from but she is choosing where she wants to stay.” Lydia’s character grew on me so fast because it’s pretty obvious she’s genuinely such a sweet person, and all she wants is to be a part of the communities of Alexandria, Hilltop, The Kingdom, and Oceanside combined. What makes it even more sad like you mentioned she’s definitely already feeling guilty about what happened with Henry and all the other people whose heads were put on the spikes, not to mention probably the constant relentless attack attacks and threats that her mother is doing. Also, I just found it incredibly weird that the woman was blaming Lydia for Ozzy’s (Head Highwayman) death. Like she barely know’s Lydia compared to the rest of the people, barely even knows the rest of the communities. I mean all the Highwaymen joined the communities during the day of the fair, I’m pretty sure??? So it’s like just because Lydia is Alpha’s daughter AND no longer a part of the Whisperer’s, it’s automatically her fault that all of those people died? She wasn’t even there and had no idea what her mother was planning. I know I’ve already gone on a super long rant about this, I guess for me Lydia just became such a fan favorite of mine in the later seasons of the show that I just feel so invested in this particular situation. Also whether other viewers may not agree, I 100% agree with Lydia’s closing statement to Daryl “My mom was right, you guys put on these masks, and when something bad happens, you pick a target, aim, and shoot…but never you.” I don’t blame Lydia for wanting to stay in the cell even if I don’t think she belongs in one… and every time I see this episode and her voluntarily going in the cell I just think that’s so sad. Because it’s obvious she wants to stay in Alexandria, and make them see who she is as a person. But at the same time, to see how guilty she feels over everything that’s happened when again I don’t even think she’s the direct cause and to hear all this verbal abuse, and now physical abuse nearly trying to kill her it’s just messed up. Also, another thing… it’s a slight pet peeve of mine but that whole interaction with Michonne and Daryl over the radio…and I LOVE MICHONNE down, she’s my favorite but her saying “You need to keep Lydia safe for all our sakes…you can’t let her leave Alexandria.” and whatever else she said all of those lines, the first time and every time after always made me uncomfortable because I take those lines as Michonne asking Daryl “Make sure Lydia is safe so nothing bad happens to us.” I personally just always took that in a bad way, like she wasn’t asking Daryl to keep Lydia safe for the right reasons like she only cares about everyone else’s safety, but Lydia‘s. Which maybe I always am just reading too much into what Michonne says there, and if I am or I’m not I guess from Michonne’s perspective I understand she hasn’t known Lydia as long as everyone else, but I also just assumed Michonne finally came around and wanted Lydia to stay and to keep her safe because she cared about her safety. Again maybe it’s both…I just get slightly uncomfortable when I hear her say that because I don’t know which way she means it. I’ve said it before lol and I’ll say it again, they’re definitely trying to do the Negan redemption arc thing, and speaking to what Aaron Gabriel and Siddiq were saying at the meeting…where we stand right now in the show. I don’t think Negan is redeemed. And I don’t think he deserves anyone’s forgiveness. But I do think he has changed, and he’s not the same person he was before. I do think that he has earned enough trust to be let out of his cell simply to work and get some fresh air. But I was happy when he stepped in to save Lydia, because he did have a soft spot for Carl, and has a soft spot for Judith and Lydia. And he can do the right thing and save Lydia‘s life, or anyone else else’s life but because of all of the horrible things he has done in the past…that does not mean just because one or multiple selfless acts he deserves any sort of forgiveness or redemption. It’s truly only up to the individual people that he selflessly helps, whether they feel like they can trust him or not, forgive him or not, and be redeemed or not in their eyes. I don’t know if anyone’s going to read this obnoxiously long post, but if so, I do apologize for it being so long 😂

100% agree on the Michonne bit. I had this sinking feeling when she said that. I feel like the wrong person is gonna overhear that on the radio. Maybe Lydia. Maybe Alpha. It just makes me sad. I feel the same way about Lydia, I feel like she's one of the most genuine people in the show right now

I wanna say although this show significantly drops in quality, y'all definitely make the reactions worth watching. Keep up the good stuff!

Lydia didn't let Negan out... Daryl said he knew she didn't do it because he was keeping watch all night.
