Howdy all!

I've had some awesome feedback from a lot of you about varying parts of my stories, and I wanted to see if anyone had general feedback that might not fit on a specific chapter. I'm always working to improve the story and you're all really reading the 1st draft, so there's a lot of room for me to fix and change things.

For that purpose, please let me know if there's anything that you really like or don't quite jive with. Mention the things that you want more of in the story, and maybe the things that you'd prefer I minimize.

Thanks again all. I put a few of the more common suggestions people have said to save you time from writing a full comment, but if you've got thoughts about something that isn't listed, please let me know in the comments :)

I'll also be doing one of these for Steamforged at some point - I just felt like Steamforged is significantly shorter than EB and I've got tighter reigns on both the power scaling and the magic system.

The last arc is the only one where I think there is anything I would really change? By that I mean, cut the tournament almost entirely. It was fun to read and not a horrible tournament arc, but it really didn't add anything all that interesting, it aquaimted us with Goldsilk and some of the other colleges but all of the fights we had were easy enough to predict the outcome of before hand. Most importantly, the characters didn't progress. Nothing changed about our main cast that really needed to happen in a tournament arc. If I had to fix the issue, I would have the whole tournament be about the dungeon dive. Cut the cast down to the characters that enter the dungeon, and have everyone start at the beginning. Dungeon delving is a much more interesting and less predictable way to include the action, and has a lot more inherent consequence. Tournament arcs are both Easy and hard. Easy to set up and maintain, hard to do really well. I think this one hit a really mediocre note overall. The story isn't mediocre, just the arc.

Yeah, I’m thinking the same. I would argue that Mark actually had a bit of character progression, but you’re right that the others didn’t at all.

I know the idea of Damien fighting monsters on moon’s level was a wtf moment for me but I don’t know if that was intentional or have some plans for it

I actually don't mind the tournament. It was interesting, introduced some other characters, schools, other uses of Mental Energy (With some clarification) and more importantly. Was concise. Was also a good benchmark against their first tournament. However, it was almost entirely washed by the dungeon dive. We got a meter on our protags, then immediately it was void. Overall though, I think keeping in mind what your God character's are doing and not doing and how it looks to us. Foreshadowing somewhere makes it awesome. Them just doing things, makes it silly, and a little boring. What purpose does Moon have to stonewall the group? I can only imagine its some kind of test, but what test can they accomplish stacked up against people who can and have messed with time, space, distance etc. If there were breadcrumbs, even false ones I could imagine something beyond "It has to happen because reasons" I'm pretty sure I'm broken recording this last bit but, whats possible and at what levels is half as important as what isn't in a magic system. There is a lot of teleportation and such that goes on but I thought space was supposed to be rare? I expressed distaste for Eldritch Horror level entities early on but was interested and curious, yet I am still unsure why Henry isn't hop skipping through Damien's body as he pleases. I really didn't care for time shenanigans early on. Early being the level the protags are working on. Its such a grand scope that you have to shove suspension of disbelief out of the way and wonder whose going to save them, because they certainly can't themselves. My last remark, honestly, I'm not sure is even a problem. For me its not, but I think I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't at least mention it. The protags reactions are a bit flat. Just a bit. There is good reason for them to knuckle down and hop to business, and their actions show that. They train relentlessly, and are laser focused. But, they are still teenagers if I recall, or at the least young adults. Their is some horrific, mind boggling things they have to deal with. A universal reset loop, creatures whose entire existence is to do so. The possibility that you, upon death will instead be catapulted into nothingness to be consigned to eternal suffering because real estates limited. Enemies that bend and break laws of reality as they please and the strongest people who should be your allies willing to murk you if they caught a hint of the truth. Their should be some concerns and dwellings on that probably.....granted, that stuff is tedious so im not complaining. But in the interest of being fair... Anyhow, you have a Grand Scale concept. I think tightening up some things can only help in the long run. I'm certainty curious to see how it turns out. P.S. Still waiting on those Spatial Shard attacks :p (Can wait till he gets better!)

The only complaint I have is that new chapters only come every other day

I would argue you have to strike a balance in your writing. You start off with a grand, cataclysmic premise... The world is going to end... through Void or Corruption. Your MC is inhabited by a monstrous, Eldritch creature who to a certain extent is his friend. The story is never going to be small. It's never going to be slice of life. The stakes are too high. This means your story should be grand and epic. It should have training montages. It should be a build-up to those mahussive showdowns. But Moon also had it right. Damien has to forge friendships and make alliances. More importantly, he has to keep them. These are your three pillars. 1. Training/growth 2. Big fights (the little fights are actually just training) 3. Building and keeping relationships of trust. Anything that isn't the above should be omitted. As to how to combine your 3 pillars, I would argue that 1 and 2 should never occur without sprinkling 3 around. Every chapter should be the build up or the big fights ... but should always have little snippets of Damien building and strengthening his relationships. That relationship building will be what gives the story heart and will heighten the tension when Damien is neck deep in the apocalypse and a friend chooses to stand by him despite imminent death. Or maybe the friend turns their back despite everything Damien has done for them. The appertaining rage will be what drives your readers to greater commitment to the story. It will humanize the Apocalypse.
