Please take a few moments to read & answer this, thank you so much!

Hey guys, I hope you all had a great thanksgiving.

I'm currently writing the next chapters of Advent of Eternity & Eldritch Bestie, but I have to talk with you all about something.

I have gotten several requests to separate my novels out into individual tiers so you aren't spammed when I upload a chapter of a new story, and from my talks with people, it looks like a LOT of you are only reading one of my series (rather than all of them).

To be honest, the patreon is really getting a bit cluttered for people that only want one story.

In the style of Sanderson, I also have to come clean. You know how I work on 3 stories at a time? Well... that hasn't changed. With the end of Morcster Chef, I started a new novel, and I'm 40,000 words in. I was originally planning to put it on a separate patreon for several reasons, including my plans to go full time as an author in the next year and double my writing output, but I decided the best thing I can do is just talk to you all.

So, this is the option I am leaning toward:

Individual Story Tiers, priced the same as what they are. So if you only read one of my series, this is great. You might just have to swap to the proper one.

An 'Everything' Tier that costs an indeterminate amount, between $15-20 and probably 15. Lets you read everything I have for every story, including my advance content that won't hit RR for months.

Alternatively, I leave things as they are and release the new story in some other manner. I just don't want to clutter the normal tiers even more than they already are.

One thing I want to make absolutely certain I avoid is stop someone from reading my work who wants to. I like money as much as everyone (obviously) but I like people reading my work more. If you feel like you need to talk extensively about this / don't want to do it publicly, feel free to DM me on discord.

Vascro

I like an everything tier, with lower tiers for individual stories!

I happen to read everything here and I honestly don't understand who would complain about having access to MORE stuff to read. Even if they don't like it, all they have to do is click one of the sorting categories. Just leave things the way they are. If they are complaining about something so minor, then they will complain about other stuff as well.

Actus

Yeah. I do want to try to find a method for this that works for everybody. I have actually just gotten an idea - I could just add an 'Advance' Tier where people can access my unreleased RR story and leave everything else the same. Ugh, I wish patreon just had better organizational tools, lmao.

Yeah this sounds good, at the moment I only read eldritch bestie cos I have a dozen others I'm in the middle of, but I'm intending to start eternity soon. I'd happily pay more to read an additional story, but it seems a bit of a waste to only be reading a 3rd of the content currently

I'm going to answer outside of the parameters of the poll. As you currently write, you focus on a story and leave the rest of your stories... unattended. If you split your stories, you run the risk of having 4 patteon groupings that receive fewer chapters a month. While having one that gets all the love. That seems like a recipe for 4 underperforming patreon groupings that could subsequently languish. At least as it currently stands, people know you are working on something and can be relatively patient even though they might wish for more of their favourite storie. Maybe they dabble, gently, in Morcster while they wait for Eldritch Bestie. I've thought for a while now that something had to change. And if you give your individual stories their own patreon AND the necessary attention to keep them all moving forward, that would be the best option. I just don't know if you're schedule permits you the time to do that. So far I would argue that it hasn't.

Actus

Thanks for the feedback, but I do have a question - I've pretty much kept up schedule for all of my stories as far as I can tell, I put out chapters in Advent & EB every other day, with the friday chapter occasionally coming out over the weekend instead. All my other series are finished, so there isn't anything else to write in them. I will say I sometimes don't update the available chapters for lower tiers quite on time, so I'll do my best to fix that, but I usually bring everything up to its correct spot by the end of the week.

Guessed

As somebody who reads 2.5 out of 4 stories, I have absolutely no problem getting updates for the one I don't read and the one I'm not current on, if anything it's nice to have them for a rainy day, and I'm quite happy with things as-is. That said, my one request (or warning, assuming I'm not the only person who feels this way) is that I subscribe to patreons based on the rate of content produced, not size of backlog; you and the other people I support at $10/mo tend to post about five times a week, which seems to be about as much as one person can reasonably be expected to create; keeping everything together works out well for writing whatever you're inspired to write; paying $5/mo for just steamforged and then having weeks go by with no steamforged to be found would be frustrating.

Actus

I totally understand that, but… Ah, steamforged is finished. That’s why you aren’t getting any more - chapter 56 was the end of the novel. Maybe I should have made an entire announcement for it. I’ll do that now.

Guessed

Oh oops, I deleted the preface to my comment because I thought it was kinda longwinded, I just meant as an example - I showed up for steamforged and stayed for eldritch, I'm only up to ~50 in advent so far and haven't gotten into chef at all yet, but pretend I was talking about Chef instead and thinking of june-july when you were focusing on other stories.

Actus

Hahaha, I think the biggest thing I'm getting from this is that I need to find a way to be more clear with all of you. Morcster Chef was actually on hiatus, which is why it wasn't getting any updates. That isn't something that will happen again for any of my work - I had to put it on hiatus because I did not have time to cook due to school, so I had to focus on other work. EDIT: I did mention this in a comment, but I think I should have just had an announcement post. That was an exception, and I do my best to keep my main stories (the two I am currently working on - Advent & Eldritch Bestie right now) properly updated while working on a 3rd in the background.

Brad Bakke

I’m reading all of them. I just select the title for which ever story and work my way through.
