Hey all!

As patrons, I wanted to give you all a chance to mention if there were any things you were looking forward to seeing in Runebound. No restrictions, ask for whatever you want - just checking to see if there are any aspects people are really looking forward to that I can incorporate earlier.

(Also, taking it a bit slower today as I am a tired lad, been writing at full tilt for a while. Gonna go for a nice, easy 4-5k word day).

Cheers!

im looking forward to Noah (hopefully) getting more master runes/ranking up, and seeing whats up with the other kingdoms where all the big dogs - 6’s, 7’s, etc go, and, if you really just run with the story, see what the *limit* is

Henri Wenzel

Looking forward to learn more about Todd & Isabels backstory as well as the progress in developing further with Noah

ReadingObsessed

Becoming a soldier with a partner (Lee or Moxie because that would piss off both families). Attempt to use non-human runes like the absorption one Lee has (energy from more than killing is awesome). Learn how to learn a monster's rune (lethally or non-lethally and I'm talking the runes that are not Master in rank)

Ulbert

Action will resume after this as in survival training, but with fathers knowledge he might be able to find monsters that help him and his students, also circumventing the whole outcast no last name stuff. Like with runes. And general power.

hawc7

I’m looking forward for Noah to teach more and just rise in the rankings of the school if he ever goes back

hawc7

Would be nice that he has a build for teaching while being strong but not op and he makes his students op with his dedicated teaching runes

Sean

I always love superhero reveals. Chalk it up to too much Smallville as a kid but the idea of Noah having to kill one of his friends(Maybe Moxie?) And explaining death to them before he then goes to Renewal*'s realm to steal them back later sounds so cool to me

Beater

I’m hoping for Noah to become more powerful personally instead of relying too much on his ability to revive. Becoming less reliant on it so he can have the battle IQ of someone who earned their power.

hawc7

Or he mixes his runes himself before his students so they can have personalized perfect runes

Sean

Yeah I already love how much he doesn't fear death (and how his fighting is sort of balls to the wall) but it'd be cool to see his rune style kind of solidify.

Andrei

For me what I like in Litrpg is growth and discovery, especially in magic systems. Also, exploitation of "bugs" that allows the mc to rapidly advance. Power fantasies are fun! 😁

Sean

Also, maybe one thing I really don't want to see is the thing Noah described where he had a bunch of runes saved for powerful combinations that he could swap through. The idea feels like it'd be hard to read and be invested in since Noah would eventually always have the perfect rune set for any occasion.

Thomas Underwood

I'm a fan when everybody are comrades. So I'm hoping he can open up and fully incorporate his friends into his power. Looking forward to moxie, brayden, isabell and Todd being in the know. I would love for him to start sundering them and just making them powerhouses with him. I just like good things happening to good people. Feel free to screw over father.

Cat Vargas

Looking forward to him slowly growing his coterie of commoner students and for them to gain more prestige in the academy. And for him to start connecting with the soldiers more, since they seem like his sort of people. I'm also interested in seeing where he goes with rune research. Does he keep everything to himself he learns by using Sunder to himself or does he start to share his discoveries with people he trusts or does he leverage the knowledge to gain power?

Tyler Engelke

I look forward to the diversification of his powerset as he adds in different perfect runes tied with vibration. I fully expect Noah to be able to manipulate pretty much anything eventually lmao.

Joe

Interested where you will take the demons seeing as lee isn't your stereotype demon.

Boxxy T. M.

I would like to see more of Lee and Noah growing closer (not particularly in a romantic way) they both could use a friend to trust more.. also luv the book

Passing Reader

I hope to see a ruin for gluttony or consumption that just let someone eat as much as they want, but I just might be hungry right now.

zelder

Up to chapter 65 right now. Id like to see some side perspectives from Lee and Moxie. Maybe his brother too. Also not a huge fan of ash powers, but open to see where it goes. Just joined the patreon for this story so thanks for the work!

Roshan

I’d really like to see other characters having significant agency. This is something I feel gets overlooked a lot in this genre - other characters may be powerful, or have some interesting backstory, but ultimately only the MC makes plans and drives the plot forward. What are Moxie’s plans to get out from being controlled by her family? What are her goals? What are Lee’s plans and goals? What is she doing to make those come to fruition?

Nathan

I’d love to see some motivated side characters as well. It makes them feel more alive

Nathan

I would like to see this too (in a romantic way)

Kenshii

Using non human runes and the students going into their career paths. Also exploring something like architectural magic work or detailing the infrastructure

Cirex123

all the characters die, then the world explodes — poof! i mean, it would be a riot and quite memorable in the sea of webnovels

TheLost

Honestly i love the teaching aspect the most so i would love more of that

$4.99

I'd like to see major events first from other characters perspectives, or maybe entirely from their perspective. It's cool to see the protagonist from an in world character's perspective. That being said, keeping Noah as the main and only true protagonist is vital for me personally. Not a big fan of multiple pov books.

Actus

Yeah, I enjoy layering in occasional pov swaps but I hate writing ‘true’ multi POV

1. Romance, I'm a sucker for romance so biased in the extreme, as much as moxie would sound fun, Romeo and Juliet vibes tbh, them being close friends fits a little better, Noah and Lee on the other hand? Idk good chemistry and you've got someone who can't die of old age and someone who is very hard to just stay dead so less hang ups there really, also it'd be absolutely adorable as Lee seems like the type of person who is very weak to thoughtful gifts and spontaneous displays of affection, I have the feeling Noah offering to secretly make all of her runes perfect would mean a lot to her, even if to him it was just repaying some favour or whatever. 2. Kinda want Noah to confide more in the kids and vice versa, like him them get perfect rune combos, asking what runes they'd like and going hunting for them and working out the combo for a perfect rune, maybe not for every rank but atleast for rank 2 and maybe even telling them he can work out perfect combos with little to no issues but not explaining how. 3. So much more rune theory-crafting, it's the strongest aspect of the story and seeing Noah come up with combinations and fighting increasingly crazy things as the rest of the gang watch on is fun. 4. It was mentioned Noah was a music teacher once upon a time, it would be nice to see that leant into more, idk what instrument he'd play, but it'd give a little more to his character, something he can sit down and enjoy occasionally in a calm manner and idk I feel like if you spent your whole first life teaching music it had to mean something to you, so trying to actively create a music rune even if it didn't have crazy combat potential (though I imagine it absolutely would, vibration carrying through air, main weakness of vibration removed.) and I could see him sticking to a semi theme of resonance, percussion etc maybe even use all his runes to imitate a full band/choir/symphony, a true one man show.

Joxter

Yea, I agree. It’s always interesting when characters are weak and have to think creatively. Once they become OP I usually end up dropping a series. Not intentionally but it just happens from lack of interest. Though it is fun for me to read about the MC surprising other characters with their strength. So hard balance to keep.

Actus

This is the biggest struggle of progfantasy in my opinion. You need to find a perfect balance between strength and growth. When the characters get too strong, stories lose their interest for me.

bioenthusiast

Moxie and Noah romance, I don't really see it with Lee I mean it strait up tried to kill and eat Noah and kids and feels zero remorse. Also Romeo and Juliet opposing houses vibes.

Ian Reyes

Looking forward to see more of how Noah uses his background as a music teacher (if I remember that correctly) to diversify/manipulate his runes to OPness levels! 😬

Keven Leigh

Synergy of master runes. Would be cool to see a combustion/ sunder mix that causes destruction in a emergency situation

Mario Schade

Second for rune theroy/crafting. Maybe a post you can edit from time to time with known combinations to let us guess a perfect one (which you can or cannot reveal in the story... ) and also because it is hard to remember every combination [and possible rune type you revealed] without looking back. Dont know.. maybe a Rune 101 for the story (for us readers to know all rules known by Noah or mentioned in the story) and all known combinations (complete or just what runes but not which ratio) including effects. He has a big book with runes but it feels like we didnt see much from it yet since he showed it Isabel and Todd. Right now he only uses blank pages, but what with all the other runes? I do not remeber if a lot of other runes were mentioned in the early chapters for the book. Also runes we know from name but not the combination would be additional info for such a post. Maybe not needed right now.. but i have a feeling we will need something like this later 100%. It could even be a script used by Noah in the story he builds up to sort all known facts. Also..world building is good, just also want to dito the case that side characters are not only convenient tools for the MC or more for your story. It seems ok until now but i just love when side characters get attention not just 1 chapter before a big secret reveals or they die and it should be dramatic.. and so on.. you get it. But you should also do not use a hammer and write 20 side character povs for every move. Well and because i like progression it would be nice to see a change in the school even if the timeframe for that can be a bit in the future right now (climbing the ladder from the last room and so on, maybe a new kid later which is not banned to the last room and project to fail but want to be in this class). But i feel this will be crucial including Todd and Isabels story, so i hope something is planned in this regard :) All the other aspects (political powers, rune power system, the school system including other teachers, family connections, other big players, soldiers, the bigger picture, ...) i think you have a lot planned, so just waiting to get more of your world. :) Regards

Moon Winchester

I want him to do some actually rune research, after all he is a professor. But I would like him to go at it with a logical/scientific approach.

Matthew Flowers

A couple questions:Does his body quicksave its status or does it return to his original owner’s form every time? You know how he is doing stretching exercises, would he retain his flexibility or would it reset?

Matthew Flowers

Other sentient species seem to have a high probability of existing in this world. I would like to see how their magic progression is different from humans.

Nina

Moxie x Noah (I love a good enemies to lovers) but also I hope things turn out good for Brayden, he’s kinda growing on me (but I get it if that’s on purpose so his death is a sad one or something)

Sebastian Allen

I'm still a little unclear on what happens to the excess energy when he splits a rune, since the only times he's done it so far have been when he was at or below the amount the T2 rune started with; that will be particularly relevant for how fast he can switch up runes from T3 and up; a T3 splits into 7 full T2, but 7 perfect T2 runes further split into 49 T1's + 441 full T1's worth of extra energy; If any of that excess energy is lost he wont be able to recombine all the way back to a different T3 Immediately

Actus

Yeah, he will need to find a way to store that extra energy. He’s already shown a way that’s viable by Imbuing stuff in portions and splitting them up pieces at a time, that would let him keep most of the energy at the cost of making it take a while, but he’ll probably figure out more ideal methods later.

Sleepking10

Romance, the kid’s character development, and him use more of his modern knowledge as an advantage

Wizardion

I enjoy Noah a lot, partly because he doesn't know things. One of the pitfalls of stories of this type I see a lot is the author unconsciously having their MC play god with the other characters/world around them as a story progresses (its especially obvious in harem novels...) - the MC often becomes unlikeable at that point, probably because they're displaying manipulative behaviors/attitudes toward other characters that are inherently entitled. Noah's tendency to ask Moxie and Lee for help, getting surprised by his students, and having interesting social interactions outside of the "level up to fight to level up" grind is what attracts me to this story - the rune stuff is interesting, but it never drags on too long where it feels like an infodump.

Soldier Noah

Bob

If I've been reading this right, runes are classical elemental magic manipulated by perception and knowledge. Meaning, if he watched YT chemistry vids like Nile Red/Blue, he could make an Alcoholic Baja Blast Rune. Probably from wood and water runes.

Banketo

Would love to see some new students at some point. Love it when the mc gets underestimated even if its just for a few episodes.

Maykon Henrique Mendes

I'm into his demon-like behavior and into "mistakes". "Academy professor" genre is all about good mistakes and MC being unaware and then how the rest of the cast interacts with the said mistakes. Also I think the last 30 chapters (66-96) have too much "fat" since it's like 1/3 of total chapters with less than 1/5 of plot and the novel kind of lost the family conflict for nothing and now needs another conflict with a different solution because you can't use the "agreement" solution yet again, right?

Awdyr Storm

Most of the stuff was already mentioned, but I do feel inclined to note myself that I really look forward to him actually helping people with optimizing their rune combinations. X) I know it's risky, past maybe his students, but I bet it would earn a WHOLE lot of good will from Moxie AND Lee. And Lee's already pretty much thrown in with him, so no reason not to help her. :D

Guessed

I'm enjoying it! If I had one criticism, I don't have much of a sense of location from place to place, I couldn't tell you what the Arbitage campus is, or which direction the Linwick city they're in now is relative to Arbitage, or what the roofs are constructed of, thatch or tiles or shingles or what, that sort of thing - the windows in Dad's house they keep jumping out for example, are they made of paper or glass, if it's glass is it all droopy and wavy or perfectly flat? Clearly people can get through, is it a tight fit that they barely open enough to allow or is there a little balcony? Eldritch had a bit of the same going on, I originally joined for Steamforged where "we spent all day walking through featureless desert in the direction the thing told us to go" is a lot less noticeable.

deadman omega gaming

Yeah, now that you point it out... the lack of differentiation between linwick and arbitage is a bit annoying aesthetically tho it is understandable as considering the linwicks helped to build it, I can imagine the architecture would definitely resemble each other. A cool idea to add to the patreon could be a big map like I nice big artsy one. Unless Actus is good at art himself which honestly wouldn't surprise me if he was, he seems pretty godly imo. Like jeez his writing speed is immense, I've tried writing that fast before but the best I can do is 2k a day but it's not smth I can keep up for long either. But yeah, unless they can draw it would probably cost a decent it to commission a map so I can understand why there isn't one but it seems like a nice idea.
