Wasn't the basketball team a school event? Wouldn't the school have allowed them to go without telling parents since it was for sports? It has been a few years since I was in high school and I don't know if the comic logic follows reality in this sense, but as long as the student had permission, they wouldn't have called the school, right? Am I thinking too deeply?

First of all "dad" your absent from your child's life and seemingly hurt him physically and obviously mentally too so you have no right to try to act like you have a right to say what he does in his life whether it's extracurricularly and to do with school he lives with his mother so SHE is the gaurdian. Second of all it's a basketball game and if the exam was during the basketball game he'd be excused anyway.
