Djezet Armor for Starfinder First Edition (Patreon)
Content
Starfinder First Edition specifically assumes that special materials like adamantine are already used in armor construction to the greatest degree possible in each suit, so there's no need for special adamantine rules such as exist in the feudal fantasy version of the game. But some people adore having options, including fantasy terms having game mechanical effects in science-fantasy games. And, I admit, I am one of those people.
So, I'm doing special armor materials for Starfinder First Edition. Links to all my Starfinder special materials for armor articles (which is just three, at time of writing) can be found, along with links to many other Starfinder entries, at the Paying-Patreon Exclusive Starfinder First Edition Index.
Special Armor Materials
Armor made of special materials can only be made of ONE special material. You can't have your armor benefit from being made of both adamantine and mithral, though legends claim there was once a special material that acted as both, called dragonsteel...
Special Armor Material: Djezet
In it's natural form djezet is a crimson red liquid at all temperatures, never becoming solid or gaseous. However, it can be infused into other materials, making them capable of being turned into bright red armor armor that boosts the magic energies of the wearer. Creatures may choose to use Mysticism to identify, modify, and repair djezert armor, instead of Engineering

Djezet armor is not built primarily for defense against attacks. Instead it prioritizes enhancing the spellcasting power of the wearer. As a result, a suit of djezet armor is -1 EAC and -2 KAC compared to a typical suit of the same armor. (This can result in armor that actually applies a penalty to the wearer's EC or KAC. Low-level djezet armor is often called "pre-bloodied.")
Spells with a spell level no greater than half the item level of a suit of djezet armor gain +1 caster level, and +1 to their save DC.
(Spellcasters with djezet armor often depend on things like invisibility, flight, and tough friends to protect them, rather than their armor. Art by HMMO.)
