Rule Snack: Hand Cannons for Starfinder (Patreon)

"Rule Snacks" are a new feature for my patrons - short rule elements that are initially Patreon exclusives. They may show up in Rogue Genius Games products or similar sources later, but for now they are just for you!

Hand Cannon

A hand cannon is a specially designed ranged weapon that functions as a longarm, but has the size of a small arm. Any longarm can be purchased as a hand cannon. This gives it a strength minimum as if it was a heavy weapon, reduces the number of hands required to wield it by 1, decreases the bulk by 1 (to a minimum of light bulk), and increases the cost by 10% of its base price.

To be proficient with a hand cannon, you must be proficient with small arms, longarms, and heavy weapons. To have weapon specialization with a hand cannon requires you to have weapon specialization with small arms, longarms, and heavy weapons. Hand cannons are otherwise considered longarms (such as for rules and feat interactions).
