So, WotC has announced they are leaving OGL 1.0a completely alone.

AND releasing the 5.1 SRD under CC.

YOU did this. Congratulations!

There’s a lot to talk about in “Now what” territory, but I’ll get to that later this weekend, after I have had some time to process.

For now, I thank WotC for listening to the fans and industry as a whole. A lot of people said this would never happen. It’s to WotC’s credit that they decided not to keep pushing this.

I am absolutely stunned. This is not at all what I expected.

*Now* I will give them the benefit of the doubt. ORC is still worth doing, because we want a licence that isn't controlled by one company so that this can't happen again, but that CC-BY SRD is really useful; with that attribution block for PF2, Paizo is, I think, completely clear to put the game under ORC, because all the structural similarities to D&D are also found in the 5.1 SRD. We got everything we wanted.

No doubts given, they have tested the waters and will come back with something, especially for next version. Their pockets are deep. However, YES, I personally am pleased and am happy to have been a meager voice among the chorus of intelligent debate and discord. Waiting for ORC to make its stop and getting on-board.
