oh boy... series finale time. it was such an emotional ride and one I wasn't expecting. I loved being on this journey with the show for the past 6+ years, it has been such a huge impact on my life. I hope everyone that watches find some enjoyment out of the last episode. I wish I liked it more, but I think it just wasn't made for me. to me, 15x18 is my ending due to how I am a fan of the show, and thats okay. but damn... Im gonna miss this show so much. so sad to see it go, but it was time.

hope y'all enjoy!

SPN truly ended with a firm NO to character development, LGBTQ+ representation, women, POC, disabled people and good storytelling in A.D. 2020. What a bold finale, indeed.

GreenDragon

I have legitimately never watched a single episode of this show, but you're such a great reactor I'm invested in this ending for you.

DB

Honestly I'm just glad it's finally over. Anyway if anyone has extra cash available pls consider donating to The Castiel Project foundraiser with the Trevor Project that focuses on the prevention of LGBTQ youth suicide.

You're really missing out. I haven't watched it in several years, so yeah I lost interest myself, but you owe it to yourself to, at least, check out the first few seasons.

Alley Box
>>48100795

yup... they really said 15 years means nothing. lets get back to 1x01 and pretend nothing else ever happened

Alley Box
>>48100895

oh I didn't hear about that! I will look it up and maybe link it in my video, that seems like a nice project

Alley Box
>>48100895

bc not gonna lie.. this ending makes it seem like death is where you find true peace, not trying to live... and it hurts to see that be how they want to leave the show given how impactful it is

DB
>>48100895

That would be lovely and much appreciated. I know some Twitter Misha fans are doing their best of turning this dumpster fire into something positive. Last I checked they had raised over 7k in just a few hours. It's a beautiful initiative and reading comments and testimonies, not gonna lie, totally made me tear up. https://give.thetrevorproject.org/fundraiser/3037563 here's the link if you want to check it out

@Alley I think people have every right being upset. Because one could literally watch the pilot and the finale and it's the same fucking episode. Nothing in between mattered. They ended up the exact same way they started. Family don't end with blood? Lol just kidding who the fuck cares about anyone else but your unhealthily codependent brother. Free will? Lol just kidding you're destined to live and die the way it was planned from the start. Nothing stays dead on SPN? Lol just kidding that's for straights only. Insulting, lazy, bad writing. Dean deserved better than a rusty nail. Sam deserved better than that wig. Cas deserved better than black goo. Kansas deserved better than that cover. Fans deserved better than this dumpster fire. When your finale makes a Buckleming episode seem like an acceptable ending...

Alley Box
>>48100795

I completely understand.. I have tried so so hard to be happy with this ending and im just not.. just so many poor decisions were made and I wish they understood how much sam and dean have changed and the family they made along the way are just as important as the brother bond..

DB
>>48100795

I'm incredibly biased, I admit. I watched it mostly for Cas (and Destiel by association). I'm not a teen fangirl and I've had my share of bad TV decisions and yet they've managed to make me feel like an idiot, a Becky just because I dared to think that 2 cis white bros waving manly weapons is not enough of substance for a long, interesting ride. This finale made me feel stupid for ever caring.

Alley Box
>>48100795

bro I feel the same. thats how I was a fan for the longest time (destiel fangirl). I dialed it back bc I knew it would never happen and somehow... they still disappointed me by basically saying everything I cared about was nothing. only the boys mattered

brian quinn

It's so sad that supernatural ended at season 5, but least swan song was a fitting and emotional finale

DB
>>48100795

Yup. I think I would be less disappointed if they didn't give me Cas' love confession at all. Because as much of a bury your gay it was it also gave me hope for more. And once again they just shamelessly used Destiel to get the views only to shit all over that. And what about Eileen? Not even a single mention? Even if one doesn't ship either of these pairings, it's just shitty writing to drop both like that.

Cassie Hernandez

I just hated how soon Dean died after defeating Chuck he put everything he had into it to finally be free and he didn't even get to enjoy it and not even gonna start on the Castiel stuff

Kristin Dorner

I, like you, tried SOOOOO hard to like this episode. I’ve watched it in full 4 times (5, if you count watching your reaction to it) and each time I just get more upset. My honest opinion, they couldn’t have written a worse ending for this show. One of my theories was that Dean would die and Sam would live his life, but they did it in SUCH an underwhelming way. Not only that, but they completely walked back one of the CORE principles of this show: family don’t end in blood. Why was none of their found family in this episode (except Bobby)? No one was at Dean’s Hunter Funeral? No one was around to help or comfort Sam? What the fuck happened to Eileen and all the alternate reality people? Even in Sam’s normal life, the wife (a non-blood family member) was reduced to a blurry figure in the background while the son (Sam’s blood) was the primary focus. And I know so many people are going to say that COVID was a big factor in what happened, but it doesn’t explain bad writing (and I’m sorry, but that bridge full of mask-less cast and crew pinched a little nerve when you remember that Misha couldn’t be there “because of COVID”). Things could have been done in such a different way. I’m not mad at WHAT happened, but HOW it was done. Ugh, I could go on and on. I’m sorry that it was such an inadequate ending for a lot of people’s comfort show. I have appreciated watching your reactions to it, though<3

Collinson

As a non fan who has only seen your reactions I can only say it’s amazing that a show can last so long. However I think that can be an issue I think even for great shows 10 seasons is probably the limit and going beyond that the writers run out of ideas and there’s usually such a change around in staff that it’s amost impossible to keep the spirit of the show alive.

Douglas

I have watched, A LOT, of series finales in my 30 years. Was it the best, no, was it the worst, not even close. This seemed, at least to me, fitting for a show that's gone on for 15 seasons. One thing to keep in mind too because of COVID, the finale was likely changed from what they wanted. Endings are hard and I cried like a newborn throughout.

Shandler

I'm sorry you didn't get an ending that you wanted. I'm not a Supernatural viewer but, from other shows I've invested in over a long time, I know how frustrating it can be to not get the closure you wanted after pouring yourself into the show emotionally.

Shashank

Like others not happy with the ending [I expected that so not disappointed]. But I’ll just mention what I liked about the finale: The Van Morrison song in the opening is great! Jared Padalecki’s acting was very good. The dog climbing the stairs was adorable. Thanks for sharing these full reactions, it was cool seeing a real fan’s take on these final episodes. Your reenactment of Dean’s part at the pie festival was hilarious: “why you so sad?!..ehh fuck em..it’s fine...try and live in the moment!”

Camille Adams

I was meh as a whole on the finale. Found myself more frustrated with the amount of storytelling left on the table while we got episodes with throwaway characters (fake Mrs Doubtfire) and pointless filler eps. It said something about the lack of direction and clarity of vision. One thing I’d like to challenge everyone on is to remember Sam is Dean’s baby brother. Dean has an almost paternal love for Sam. When you see two brothers in such a moment like we got for Dean’s goodbye and see “wincest”, you’ve allowed those folks to poison what is normal sibling affection. Don’t give them that. Don’t let them steal that from you. Yeah, they’re going to twist it, but to hell with them. I too was thrown by Misha not being there in the end. Seemed like a perfect opportunity to show him inside the car riding with Dean. Hopefully Misha will better explain his absence.

Don't worry. Buffy has character growth where there is change that is true and consistent to the core of each character. It does it right.

Superfan Giovanni

If any Buffy fans skip the SPN reactions, I highly recommend checking this one out. Wow!

matt

You're not being nit-picky about this ending, it was a swing and a miss. Dean's death was handled ok, but Sam's life was not. I would have much rather seen him meet his wife, fall in love with her, get married, having his son being born and her asking what they should name him. Anything to give us a sense of connection with his new family. And, seriously, who the hell only cooks one piece of toast?

Mike Sharp

I wanted to like the finale. I don't hate it but meh. I wanted so much more from a show that lasted that long.

kirk eastment

Haven't watched just yet, but was already spoiled through a YT recommended that Dean dies, but I figured last week that would happen as I felt like the only reason they made it this far was Chuck interfering to keep them alive for his "story", though it will still feel like cheap cop out. I read some of the comments on this post seeing as the main part was already spoiled for me anyway lol and it's so sad to read from fans that this finale feels and likely is very hollow compared to even just the previous episode as well as earlier season finales. I hope for the fans sake that in a few years there's a reconsideration to bring it back for a better fairwell outside of covid restrictions, which no doubt played a part in ruining everything this year, even tv shows and their send offs.

AJ Newton

I remember being 16 and watching the first episode of SPN when it aired and being so excited to talk to my friends at the bus stop about my new favorite show after being so blown away by the pilot. Now, at 31 I have two thoughts: wow I'm old, and I'm thankful that Supernatural was there for the people who treasure it the most just like the Buffyverse was there for me. There will never be another Sam, Dean, or Cas, and I am so glad they got to exist.

Just finished watching and despite me being a wreck, which means it was still a heavy and great damn episode, I definitely think they could do some reshoots for a later release featuring the cast that couldn't travel for the shooting of the finale. Other than that though it was a fairly satisfying finale.

Patrick Armbruster

I guess they didn't show much more of Sam's life with his son, because if there's EVER a chance to do a restart (continuation), they can just take an older Sam (which he'll be by then, anyway) and do that, then. That way, writers have more freedom, then. Plus: We can just assume that Dean Jr. is "in the business" and of course gets the car after Sam dies. (If that's all we ever get.) So I'm okay with that.

Pho3nixX

I gave 15 years of my life to this show. Thru the ups & downs twists & turns. I was faithful. I wanted so bad to have an ending that Sam & Dean deserved that we deserved, but then I remembered that they had to change the ending due to covid & I remembered Jensen didn't like the ending & begged them to change it & they refused so truthfully I knew I wasn't gonna be happy. There was a couple of cute moments. Dean kept the dog . The pies was funny. Then we get the ultimate slap in the face. Dean Winchester dies on a vamp hunt. Are you fucking kidding me? I haven't watched your reaction yet. I plan on doing it sometime today but I woke up & went to make coffee & started thinking about watching it with you & started crying. I just don't wanna start my day like this. I thought about not watching it & if it was any reactor but you I would probably skip it. I am just so sad. 15 years & this is what I get, what we get.

@Leenis true tho IMO Alley could choose dozen others finished shows and most of them would probably be more satisfying in their conclusion than this lol There's a very disheartening trend lately of sticking to the original vision no matter what. It's often using the "fanservice" and "fandom shouldn't dictate storylines" arguments but wilfully ignoring the fact that what they create doesn't exist in a void and evolves within a dialogue with the viewers. I'm just tired of hearing that wanting good, happy things for characters you love is bad and boring. There's nothing healthy in the fetishising way tv praises unhappy or traumatic life as interesting while framing normalcy and happiness as boring. I'm going on a tangent, sorry! Back to SPN while I didn't expect Schitt's Creek levels of love and understanding of the fanbase, I didn't think they'd go HIMYM way of completely misunderstanding their own characters, core messages and fans.

Nichole Hutchison

Okay so I haven’t watched supernatural for years, used to be a huge fan but gave up on it at around s8/s9 but reading these comments and hearing about dean... god my heart 😂

Ryan

As someone who hasn’t watched the show for six years and not watched it religiously for almost a decade, I was mostly pleased by the finale. Dean dying on a Vampire Hunt was a let down but this show let me down a lot over the years. But I was there for the Pilot and I was there for the Finale, I’m old.

Kirby

I haven't watched your reaction yet. But I just want to say that was a terrible series finale. Not Dexter bad, still, pretty bad. Dean has always been my favorite character and I didn't shed a single tear during his "death" scene. I was just rolling my eyes. Then I was laughing my ass off when they were showing Sam aging. LOL they just threw powder on his frizzed out hair (or I guess it was just an awful wig - either way - hilarious). That was some funny shit. Meanwhile, Dean's just driving through heaven for decades. Don't care about Jack, but I would have liked to have seen Cas again. Because apparently he's hanging out with Jack somewhere or something? The ending was so dumb with Sam and Dean chilling in heaven. Reminded me of the laughable ending of Vampire Diaries.

Kirby
>>48100826

Yeah, maybe just seasons 1-5 ish. The rest is mostly garbage. But I kept watching anyway because of Dean and Cas. Oh and Crowley, the show was much worse without him.

GreenDragon
>>48100826

Yeah I'm sure the beginning is good, but I can't fall down the rabbit hole of "good show turns to dumpster fire and ends badly" again. The Magicians has scarred me.

Eric Haefele

My take on it was that we were supposed to assume that Sam had a full and good life after Dean. But because time flows differently in heaven, Dean did not have to wait to be reunited with Sam, and Sam will not have to wait to be reunited with his wife and son. I think that we all are left to assume our own preferred ending and it is up to us to fill in the blanks. They could not possibly have satisfied everyone's dreams on the actual show so they left enough room for us to do it for ourselves. The writers could have locked down some loose ends. But there were too many possibilities. And what ever loose ends they decided to close up would have left some fans disappointed. But by leaving those loose ends out there, we could all write our own satisfying ends in our minds and not rely on the writers to do it for us. That way there are a million different endings, one for each fan.

Kirby
>>48100826

Omg, yes. I did not watch the final season of The Magicians because of the crapfest that was season 4.

Kirby

Great reaction video. I almost shed a tear because you were crying, but my cold cynical heart prevented me from being sad. I still think it was a terrible finale and also really dumb.

Kirby
>>48164485

There was a shocking lack of a satisfying ending either real or imagined. They killed off the main characters and put them in heaven. Stupid, corny and poorly written, imo. It's not my job to write the ending of Supernatural. That would be the show producer and writers job.

AdoptDontShopPets

OK I am venturing to watch your reaction before Misha and Jared’s Stage It panels today. I hope I survive the tears ahead.

Nebraska

This finale disappointed and angered me. When I saw Dean with the dog I was like, 1 Dean hates dogs and 2 they stole someone's dog because its owners would have been brought back by Jack. We had that brief moment of it being dog in the previous episode but then we saw that it was really a "I'm just messing with you dog" that Chuck had dropped in their path. Dean's death scene left me pissed off for the rest of the episode. Dean fricken Winchester dies on not just a run of the mill vamp hunt, but the very first hunt after they're "free". And while Dean is dying, neither one of them call out to Jack. Really? Maybe Dean was ok with dying but Sam is definitely screaming for Jack at some point in that exchange. As it went on I was like, OK, Jack is going to pop up at the last moment on his own after this bonding moment and save Dean. NOPE. When Dean makes Sam promise to keep fighting, I was like, how are you going to put that on him. He hunts because you hunt. That's what keeps Sam fighting. Then the way that the rest of Sam's life is cut together it just feels like he was never happy. It felt like he was just waiting to die even though he had a wife and kid, all he could think about was his brother and parents. When we first saw the family picture of Sam, Dean, John, and Mary I was like, oh, we're in Dean's house in heaven. But no, it was Sam's house even though I don't know when they would have ever posed for that picture. Cas being mentioned but not shown was worse than leaving him in the empty. After his love confession, or even if that hadn't happened, it just makes no sense that he wasn't there greet Dean or least meet him on the drive. The only feel good moment that I got out of the episode was that we got to see our Bobby. From the first word he spoke he felt so different from AU Bobby. The warmth in his voice reminded me how sad it was that they plucked him from the series and how pale of a replacement AU Bobby was. But at least we got the real Bobby one last time. No reunion with the team that tried to kill the devil and missed? Not even a mention of Ellen and Jo? Or Ash who we'd seen hack his way around heaven in the past? I can understand that you can't get everyone on set, but at least mention most of the friends we lost along the way. Finally, how are they going to leave us without a 15 season "The road so far". The montage they showed at the end of the last episode was good, but it wasn't a "The road so far". I feel robbed that we didn't get one before they defeated Chuck, and we didn't get on here either. P.S. Was this Chuck's ending that Becky hated? Because it kind of felt like it to me.

Becky Landis

I’ve waited a few days before watching this and posting. I wanted to see if, on rewatching the episode, I felt any different about it. Sadly, no. It still feels like a late thought, “Oh, quick! We forgot, we have another hour!” unnecessary filler episode. It leaves me feeling detached from the main story. Before I say my view, I have to say the guys and the behind the camera crews have always been great and still are. But they can only do so much with what they are given. Jared and Jensen (as I’ve said to another reviewer I support) are so damn good that even when you knew it wasn’t the end of their characters you still cried at their pain. And in this episode their pain was very real. I can’t begin to imagine how difficult it was for them to do take after take of Dean’s death and they had to feel drained by the end of the day. I have a lot of criticism that I won’t go into; things like Sam’s aging makeup (Nutty professor to dying man with old face and young hands) is one I will mention. I don’t really have too much problem with the way Dean died but I feel like it should have closer to the end of the episode. And from what some friends have told me “The Vampire Diaries” had the same exact ending as we got for SPN. I would rather have seen Dean die, Sam start the fire (no music, no pan out, we just see Sam through the flames/smoke), as the fire and smoke gets stronger it fades to Dean in heaven meeting Bobby. They have their exchange, Dean drives off in Baby and comes to the bridge. The bridge scene goes as it was but after the boys hug Dean says, “So, how long was it? I’be been told time us different here.” Sam pauses before telling him “Decades” He then goes on to tell him that he had a son whom he named Dean. Dean smiles and says “Of course you did! I’m awesome!” (Such a Dean thing to say). And then they fade out to the montage from the end of episode 19 which was a great series ending montage and helped that episode feel like the series ending. I know Jensen has said they will likely play the boys again in 5/6 years but with the ending they weren’t given I’m not too sure how they could feasibly do that. Seems to me like they narrowed their options a lot if they want a movie sometime in the future. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I didn’t hate it, but I certainly didn’t like it. A disappointment for sure.

Jessie

I’m so happy that I started the show during the beginning of quarantine because spending 15 years for this show would not have been with it! 😳 I did enjoy it but not if I had to wait 15 years to finish it!

Sandy S.

I just now brought myself to finish the episodes filmed during the pandemic and I cried so hard...lol. I wasn't expecting to feel so emotional. It was time to end it, but they brought it home even with the last episode. I loved the shot at the end with them thanking the fans and showing all the crew. And as silly as it sounds, I was so glad Sam got his chance at a normal life...the one he wanted at the beginning of the series. I was a little bummed that Dean died so quickly. (The finale reminded me of the finale of Six Feet Under...an excellent series.)
