A surge of crimson spread from Hikaru’s chest, sweeping across his body in a heartbeat.

In Erica’s eyes the young man was instantly clad in scarlet armor, its glow pushing back the storm‑dark dawn like a newborn sun.

“W‑what… is that?”

Erica Blandelli’s eyes went wide.

Not even Milan’s prodigy of the Copper Black Cross had seen anything like it.

Was it sorcery?

A mystic weapon?

A divine artifact infused with demigod blood?
She couldn’t tell—but the aura rolling off him told her exactly what he was.

Scrolling through the photos she’d snapped minutes earlier, she found the most recent shot and finally understood.

“So… he really is the seventh King.”

Just then, Liliana’s voice called through the wind and rain:

“Erica, over here! Lord Hikaru is about to fight—we have to evacuate the survivors!”

Liliana, draped in a rain cloak, sprinted up.
“I’ve moved the townspeople to safety. Let’s go.”

“You, Liliana? But weren’t you in India?” Erica blurted.

A moment later the pieces clicked: Liliana was the first mage to serve the Seventh King.

As they retreated with the rescued civilians, Erica pried for details.

“‘King’? Lord Hikaru doesn’t really like that title,” Liliana said, slightly apologetic. “He never explained why—he just asked me not to use it.”

Behind them the ground shook hard enough to rattle hearts: the battle had begun.

Though Hikaru ’s arrival made little noise, his presence alone bent the two warring gods’ attention. Both paused.

“Yet another meddler?” Verethragna laughed lightly.

“Hmph! I smell that nauseating stink of a Devil King,” Melqart thundered in a voice like rolling cliffs. “Once I finish this so‑called Unconquered War‑God, I’ll drown these blighted mortals in a tidal wave and carve up every earth‑born Devil King in my path!”

Verethragna chuckled. “Still so quick to brag, Melqart. Words are light—incantations are light—so become my sword and cut!”

Golden blades of light erupted toward Melqart.
Melqart’s booming laugh shook the sky: “I know your god‑slaying swords. So long as they don’t touch me, they’re meaningless!”

Space warped. From the rift shot two gigantic cudgels—one chasing like the wind, the other lunging like lightning.

Even the strongest sorcerer would be pulp in their path.

The two gods barely registered Hikaru. In their eyes, a Devil King was still an ant—an ant that had stolen a sliver of divine power, but an ant all the same. Both Verethragna and Melqart were elite even among gods; fame meant nothing—raw will made them terrifying.

Their clash scorched the air; each stray shockwave could reduce a city to cinders. Yet Hikaru walked forward, unharmed. Wind, lightning, divine pressure—all ignored.

As he advanced, his armor shifted again—now six‑tenths dragon, four‑tenths man. The Juggernaut Drive Gear evolves with its wielder’s will: Hikaru refused to become a beast, so the Sacred Gear adapted toward a humanoid dragon knight.

Boost… Boost… Boost…

The mechanized voice chimed, power swelling tens of times over in mere seconds—without the old backlash, thanks to his new Campione body.

A scarlet spear of light formed in his hand and hurled forward. Verethragna sliced it apart with his golden sword; Melqart smashed it with a cudgel—but Hikaru was already on them like a meteor. Est had become the Demon‑Slaying Holy Sword, every bit as formidable as Verethragna’s blade of light.

Verethragna, still half‑casual, shifted to a reverse grip. “Isn’t it rude, Devil King, to barge into our duel?”

Steel rang. The weight behind Hikaru’s blow drove Verethragna’s youthful form half a step into the air, shock flaring in the war‑god’s eyes.

This Campione… is no ordinary foe!
