Something I've noticed is that I'm very active on the discord server, and sometimes I assume that everyone will know the details for the future projects, my fears and worries on those projects, and my goals for the future.
As you may know, I've kind of went a bit wild this year, sometimes releasing up to one update for each of my four projects in a single month. I've worked a lot this year, putting my own social life to the side in order to do so. This month, one of my four projects, His Bet, Her Loss, is going to be completed. Then the last ending for Aya Edition will release in January, which will bring A Promise Best Left Unkept to an end as well.
My goal was to return to working on only two projects. It's for my own well-being. Though I'm not sure if I'll be able to stay to only two projects. I love my work after all. More than half my time is dedicated to coding the games. So I think I'll try for the next project to find a coder. I'm a bit scared it would lower the quality of the direction somehow, but I think me focusing on writing almost exclusively is probably the best outcome for everyone. If I can find a coder, I don't think it would be that difficult to have at least three projects running in parallel.
Now, I'm already in the process of writing my two next projects. This post is mainly to try and put down information that I've probably already shared elsewhere, but maybe not on the Patreon/Subscribestar pages.
The Fantasy Project
This project really scares me. I was actually working on it a while back, when I first started writing His Bet, Her Loss. People were asking me for a Fantasy NTR, and I remembered and idea I had a long time ago, when I was writing non-porn stories. I decided to take inspiration from that idea and write a story that wouldn't be outrightly based on NTR. In fact, the prologue—the first 60k words—of that project is not a porn story at all, even less a NTR. I've been meaning to write other things than porn for a while, so this gave me an outlet of sort. The prologue is self-contained. Which means it's a story of its own.
I then had to stop writing it for a while because I started having too much work on my hands with His Bet, Her Loss fully in development. I waited until I had written He Maid Her Fall to its entirety before returning to this project. I have been scared to work on it. There were multiple times I had wanted to just drop it. It's a lot of risk. Not only would it cost a lot, but since it wasn't based on a NTR setting, I'm not fully certain that I can—in fact, I don't think I have the ability to—write a satisfying NTR story with it. Still, I convinced myself that I would at least develop the prologue while writing the NTR part on the side, hoping that I have enough time and talent to navigate the complexity of the plot and give you guys something satisfying to look forward to. It did help that I had already started commissioning for the soundtrack, and those tracks are very good.
So, at worst, only the prologue will come out and that would be that. Though, obviously, that's not what I'm aiming for.
Some might have noticed, but I've created a chat on here to post about non-important development for my projects. I posted there that my artist has started working on the sprites for this project. There are a lot of sprites, so it will take some time. I'm still not sure if and how I will be previewing the sprites, but if I do, I'll post an official post here, since I'm sure you guys want to see updates.
One last thing, but the title of "Fantasy" project is kind of broad and people had different ideas of what that mean. All I can say is don't expect anything too complex. Monsters, that type of stuff, isn't really a focus in this story. There are fights, there is what you could call magic. But my focus wasn't on the fantasy part per se. I wanted to tell a story and that's what I did.
So yeah, just keep in mind that this might not go anywhere. That I might end at the prologue, and that the plot wasn't thought of with NTR in mind. This does sound bad, and maybe it is bad. If it ends up that way, we'll find compromise. His Bet, Her Loss for example was created out of sheer curiosity on my part. Another small project could be worked on at any time. Retarded stories, after all, are my forte.
The NTS project
This is kind of weird coming from me. I did say multiple times in the past that I want to work on most type of NTR, if possible. NTS is obviously one of those types.
My decision to work on a NTS was mainly because of what happened during the debacle with the payment processor and Steam. NTS is a pretty safe bet. Though that doesn't mean I want it to not be hard. My goal is to try to tell a NTS story that keeps the tension and progression a NTR would have. Obviously, I'm a NTR writer, so I might miss the mark pretty bad. I'm personally not a fan of NTS. Some people know my view since I talk about it on the Discord from time to time. I will try my best, is all I can say.
I know it will displease some of you guys. NTS is not what you're looking for. I understand. That's why I have multiple projects. The NTS will never be my sole project. Like I said with the fantasy project, there's nothing stopping me from having a small project on the side if something fails. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but I'm trying not to worry too much since I'm the type of person that will worry about every little thing. I need to move forward. I made my decision, and there's no use thinking about what ifs too much.
Now for the big question: Is the NTS is going to turn into a NTR? I don't know. And I'm not saying that because I want to keep it a secret or to make it a plot twist or whatever. The truth is that I really don't know. I'm working on the plot right now, and I don't want to force things. I will have a clearer idea as I move closer to the apex of the story as to where I decide to go with it. Obviously, I want it to hit some important emotional beats. The idea that the story would be soft or wholesome is unthinkable to me. So while I know this doesn't really change much since NTS is something some people will just never really enjoy, I do promise that I will try to make it feel like a NTR at least some of the times. I'm hoping this can be enough that even if it were to not turn into a NTR by the end, everyone can extract something from it.
Like the Fantasy project, I have asked my He Maid Her Fall artist to work on the sprite for the heroine of the upcoming NTS project. Though compared to the Fantasy project, the NTS project won't see any movement until later next year. The reason for that is that I want to use my He Maid Her Fall artist for it, and right he's… well, busy with HMHF. I just wanted to see if he could manage drawing sprites since I want my CG artists to draw the sprites as well from now on.
Conclusion
Re-reading this… it doesn't sound very positive. On the one hand, we have a Fantasy project that might go nowhere, where the word fantasy might be more of shallow qualifier than anything else. And on the other hand we have a NTS written by a NTR writer, where the ending is still up in the air and my fans may or may not like it at all.
But then again… I am a retarded cat. And you, my friends, are financially supporting this retard. So let's all hope everything somehow goes right and we have two great projects coming next year.
Else… well, I might just have to break the "break in case of an emergency" glass and write the sequel for one of my old projects. That trick works every time, I'm sure.
Do comments and tell me how you would like me to shares previews and updates. Do you prefer if I share as soon as I have one sprite, or do you prefer if I wait when I have something substantial to share?
See you later this month for His Bet, Her Loss!
