Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope you’re having an amazing week so far!

As for me, summer in Thailand has officially started and this year is scorching hot, like, it can literally burn your skin if you don’t wear protection or apply any sunscreen.

The purple level is critical with high UV, and it covers most of central and lower Thailand @_@

So, my room turns into an oven during the day. I’ve been staying inside cool cafΓ©s all day since last week and only come back to actually work at night when things cool down a bit.

WISH ME LUCK SURVIVING THIS YEAR’S SUMMER πŸ”₯

With that said, I’ve spent most of my time in the cafΓ© reading books, writing, and drawing ideas. Including revisiting Bun Hunting 3 animation.

Last time we talked about it here:𝐁𝐔𝐍 π‡π”ππ“πˆππ† 3 ✧ Script Finalized! ✧.

After that I had some second thoughts about the story and script. I’m not sure if it was burnout or drawing Hank nonstop for years, but when I reread the script I’d lost all interest. So I put it aside and worked on something else for a while… until today.

I finally found the problem: the script was too unfocused.

My original intention was just to finish the saga and make something visually pleasing for Bun Hunting 3. It had everything I wanted to see: Evangelion references, a chase, an abstract sequence (that I didn’t show you guys yet), and a fan-pleasing ending. But it all felt shallow. I didn’t want to spend another 5–6 months just to make a cartoon that didn’t mean anything. It needed a real message I actually wanted to tell.

So today I wrote down all the ideas and themes I want to explore in this third installment. (Spoiler ahead if you want to avoid!)

βœ§Λ–Β°. 🐺BUN HUNTING 3: BUNS UPON A TIME 🐰 .Β°Λ–βœ§

The Ideas

Billy is the only one who can truly challenge Hank in the hunt.

Making Hank’s life more colorful.

Meanwhile, Hank has to deal with the β€œbig bad wolf” stereotype since he was a child.

His dad expected him to be big and tough, encouraging him to eat meat.

But all Hank ever wanted were good warm hugs.

Bread became his escape.

The soft and warm thing he missed so much.

He never finished the steak.

Instead he escaped to the playground and secretly ate leftover bread left out for the pigeons.

As he grew older, he learned to protect his image… or else he’d get mocked by the other animals.

The world is cruel to a wolf who just wants to live normally.

Either you act scary or you get hated automatically by everyone else.

Seeing no point in being an average wolf, he turned the stereotype into reality.

His father’s words haunted him and he followed them.

He acted scary to show everyone the terrifying image they expected.

But behind the scenes he was tired and just wanted a big warm loaf of bread with cocoa.

Billy is the first one who cracked the code.

He treats Hank as a friend, not as a hunter or prey.

And for the first time, Hank feels like he can finally be himself around someone…

And that's about it.

Knowing this has given me a huge burst of motivation to rework the short. I’m cutting every unnecessary part and focusing only on Hank’s journey and his hunt for buns. It feels so nice to work on something when you actually know what you’re doing.

Now I'm eager to jump back in the world of Hank and Billy one more time!

See you in the next update!

Hank should apply for a job at the bakery and then the two can have a cute workplace romance and they can have a scene where Billy shows Hank how to knead dough (like that sexy pottery scene in Ghost) and then Hank tries making stuff himself like biscuits then dumplings then croissants and they can be cute and make bread and pastries togetherrrrr

Ugh this is so cute and funny and i love how you capture the beauty of like classic animation like Lady and the Tramp and old Looney Tunes πŸ˜πŸ™

Oh, I didn't know you are from Thailand! Actually I'm from Malaysia, so we are neighbours. No wonder we are sharing the same scorching heat right now! Stay hydrated!

Djjunior95

Aw poor Hank, but I’m glad Billy is here to help the big boof ease up a bit :3 Also good luck with the heat, summers in Asia are no joke

Things have been getting hot over where I live too, lately, but I can't imagine how it must be over there. Stay hydrated and covered! HAAAAAANK πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί my sweet triangular pup. Billy will defend against any buns who try to bully you. You know, I think Hank would absolutely loathe and resent Wuffle. Wuffle has access to warm bread, friends he gets to hug all the time, and is rewarded for being nice instead of getting ridiculed for it. (And heavens forbid Billy were to meet him and offer him some bread. Hank was here first, gosh darn it! That's his bunny baker, not yours!) Like, Hank would scoff at Wuffle for his goody two shoes attitude and look down on him to the point of ridiculing him (hypocrisy at it's finest cuz it's what Hank is most afraid of experiencing himself) but in reality being a part of Wuffle's life would be all he could ever really want. And he'd find Wuffle's constant friendliness to be aggravating until realizing it's genuine and not an act. But, a little bit of soft love through buns will soften those rough edges. And there's no better way to a wolf's heart than through his stomach.

I’ve been seeing that you wan to put more meaning in your works, ESPECIALLY everything with Barnaby. I’m seeing how this could be a really like turn the tides with the original story, and I’m wanting to see more of this later on. I wish you luck on continuing the story though, and I look forward to itπŸ™

Piti Yindee

Its part of the fun! Making a funny animation is one thing but it can get tired real fast. Now with the more meaningful story, it make it worth making <3

Michael7706

How do you manage to come up with this stuff? Like I’ve been stuck tryna make something that hits close and also funny. But that’s been a bit tricky in my case. I just wonder, how you manage to fix that problem?

Michael7706

Ooo thank you so much for that videoπŸ™
