This week on Kill James Bond: A wrong righted. As much as we wanted it to be the case, the Transporter series featured ZERO HEISTS. So today, November and Devon meet in a shady basement to give Jason Statham his Due. Based in broad strokes on a true-ish story, The Bank Job is the story of the 1971 Baker Street Robbery, where several- presumably jammy- bastards tunnelled into the safety deposit boxes of the Baker Street branch of Lloyds' Bank.

FREE PALESTINE

Hey, Devon here. In our home, we talk a lot about how insane everything feels, and agonise constantly over what can be done to best help the Palestinians trapped in Gaza facing the full brunt of genocidal violence. My partner Rebecca has put together a list of four fundraisers you can contribute to- all of them are at work on the ground doing what they can.

-Palestinian Communist Youth Union, which is doing a food and water effort, and is part of the official communist party of Palestinehttps://www.gofundme.com/f/to-preserve-whats-left-of-humanity-global-solidarity

-Water is Life, a water distribution project in North Gaza affiliated with an Indigenous American organization and the Freedom Flotillahttps://www.waterislifegaza.org/

-Vegetable Distribution Fund, which secured and delivers fresh veg, affiliated with Freedom Flotilla alsohttps://www.instagram.com/linking/fundraiser?fundraiser_id=1102739514947848

-Thamra, which distributes herb and veg seedlings, repairs and maintains water infrastructure, and distributes food made with replanted veg patcheshttps://www.gofundme.com/f/support-thamra-cultivating-resilience-in-gaza

BarFly

I don't need the rest of the world to know about London offbrand chicken shop *Chicken Shop Date peeks around the corner and hopes they aren't spotted*

I would like 4 extra heist based podcasts to make up for the deficit, please, thank you. For your consideration, in no specific order: Mission Impossible 1996 The Italian Job 1969 Den of Theives 2018 Tower Heist 2011 The Hatton Garden Job 2017 Rogue One 2016 The Ladykillers 2004 Trading Places 1983 Honorary mention for: Midnight Run 1988

I watched this movie on my dad’s iPod circa 2009 (age 13ish), and boy howdy was I ever too young and too mormon to handle that kind of volume of tits or the concept of BDSM. And yet I finished the movie, and the scene with the MPs has been lurking in the back of my eyes ever since.

Billie Ash

I had a cursed thought but will you be doing Bean: The ultimate disaster movie due to it featuring like 2 reverse heists

Tall Jeff

Regional Crime Squad takedown fictionalized with a West Country Serpico. Maybe just still cast Al Pacino and let the accent dice fall where they may.

Anarcho Slowpoke

Read that as A.I. Pacino, enough internet for today.

Alex

Yoo! “The devil’s own Trans-masc chaser” was my band name in high school! We opened for “Chemical Samurai” one time

Anarcho Slowpoke

Heist movie recommendation: le cercle rouge (1970) Due to how time works, it has no Statham unfortunately.

Celia46

The danish stripclub bit is fucking fantastic

Sam Handwich

All unexplained absences will be classified as: Dome Leave.

Puppy toys of the aureliaes puppy toys

Ok, as a ham radio operator, I feel compelled to take a moment of autistic pedantry. 🤣 Your average ham radio operator in a bedsit is going to be unlikely to hear these guys talking about skullduggery on common walkies for two reasons. One, this ham is more likely to be listening on frequencies other than the ones these walkies most likely use, and two, these walkies are most likely to be UHF, which doesn't travel far and gets eaten by buildings, trees, and rain. 😁

I am once again asking for an Inception episode to round out heist season pls

P.A.L.

The Battle Droid Lord Mountbatten (Ireland's first test astronaut) made me fucking cry laughing I swear.

Jim

Please do After the Sunset (2004) - Weirdly horny Brosnan/Harrelson/Hayek/Cheadle heist film

Sam Handwich

Learning about the exploits of one "Michael X" and becoming the "waow based based based" meme.

LostSpace

Please do Logan Lucky! Nascar heist movie featuring Daniel Craig Channing Tatum and Adam Driver, directed by Steven Soderbergh!

James Rule

Remember seeing this and thinking that it was ok. Going to be chuckling about that herring night bit for a while.

November's comments on blagging reminding me of no one so much as Gene Hunt from Ashes to Ashes

LCB Meyneth

So here for the Lego humor

Jennifer Houghton

My Dad, another amateur, made exactly the same comment but oddly enough it checks out to be true with real events.

Jennifer Houghton

Italian Job 1969 will be interesting to hear. I wait with interest to find out if Tony Beckley (Camp Freddie) was the first Gay Actor to play a Gay character in a film.

weronika mamuna

Bastille Day really fits The Bank Job vibe! just saying

Jermy

When I was young, I would occasionally go past the office of an insurance agent whose name, Betty Leathers, was on the sign. A name wasted. That’s one in the “no” column for nominative determinism, at least professionally

Sammi

So it's not mentioned in the episode, but it's meant to be historical cameos of John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Michael X dinner party scene, right...?

Dean Sartorel

I was really confused initially because I mixed up in my head The Bank Job and The Italian Job (2003) both staring Jason Statham

Ghostly

Some excellent hog in 28 years later for Devon. Myself and several others in the theater clapped and pumped our fists when it came up

Andrew Dunn

[Reads "the bank job"] "I've literally never heard of this movie in my life." [Hears them start with "it opens in the Caribbean"] "wait a minute, is this that movie that I watched with my family as a teenager, and when a black revolutionary puts a collar on a white woman, my (white, landlord) dad got huffy and shut the movie off?" ...yes it was

Bryce3dKeygen.midi

Had a strange sensation listening to this because my legal name is Michael X lol

Luna Nurse

2E1 MPN calling cq, cq, cq God I need to get my call sign updated

Chloe Lynch

Cockerney geezers doing a bank heist, wildly corrupt coppers in ridiculous cars, MI5 doing some silly bullshit, a porn baron, EVERYONE in Whitehall visiting the same Madam, a conman whose only skill is an RP accent … all to protect a royal from mild embarrassment? Truly, the most “we used to be a proper country” film of all time

J

Please watch Bandits. Please. Its a heist. Its got polyamory, kinda. Its got a guy who sets himself on fire. It has a beautiful redheaded cate Blanchett and a not yet bald bruce willis. Please. Thank you

Frejo

i think a danish stripclub in the 70s should lean into the explicit sex comedy trend at the time. the danish strip club should double as a comedy club

Andrew Dunn

Recently on some ham radio subreddit, someone made a post about being misgendered by a nearby operator. Almost everyone in the post rallied around the trans person and downvoted the transphobes But I think if your hobby is niche enough, you can't afford to be too much of a prick. I remember seeing some tweet or tumblr post about a trans woman who started bird watching in a relatively rural area, and all the old farts fought each other to be the one to take her under their wing and eventually they had a sort of rotating system because everyone wanted some young blood in the hobby. I recently started sumo wrestling, and there's a couple of great pride month episodes of the Sumo Punx podcast where they interview different queer people.

scara b

this was the movie I was hoping you'd cover while you were on the mini-stathem season. its a wonderful B-movie

ZaitsevFred

You know, the Baader Meinhoff Complex is technically about heisting. Just saying.

Delwyn Gee

Surprised at the Unprovoked Violence, there's a guy getting tortured in a basement.

James Rule

Wasn't done by the protagonist.

Bee

I think November is correct the Copenhagen penis shortening is a reference to GRS, Christine Jorgensen (who she has mentioned a few times) had an orchiectomy and penectomy in Copenhagen in 1951 and 1952, which would have 20 years earlier, but I believe it was an epicentre where Europeans travelled for gender affirming surgery for a while. (Incidentally Lili Elbe “the Danish Girl” had all her surgeries in Weimar Germany in the 1930s)

Sula

I damn near crashed my car laughing at the Lord Mountbatten segment

Its Devon Babeyyy

Just saw it, can confirm that's exactly what I'm talking about

Noblese Oblahaj

Getting bricked up at the Lego strip club

Noblese Oblahaj

Lord Mountbatten's car had child safety locks. That's why he couldn't get out.

Wuppdich

My version of the bank job had the most insulting subtitles in which every single "geezer-term" was explained sometimes in full sentences, so everything read like "We're in a bit of a tiff (a bad situation)" all the time

Toadie

Joke left on the table : Roy Given, not on the take

MFH

Turning to custard is definitely a phrase in Australia and New Zealand. It is based on cooking. Custard is made by combining milk, butter, sugar, and eggs over heat; while making other fancy recipes with similar ingredients you can stuff them up and you end up with a custard -- but for the life of me I can not remember what you would be trying to make.

Kwasi

The bank clerk who looks like 'Mr Incredible's boss / Rory Stewart' is played by Mick Jagger in an uncredited role.

Werewere

I'd listen to an hour of that LEGO riff I'm sick like that

-Kris-

"You'll find out about Abi's work in due time, or not." Something something her failures are known, her successes are not.

-Kris-

"A film that I like to call The Bank Job," on account of that being it's title

-Kris-

"Handing 'em the ones they use to pull apart the lego bricks. These are worth more than gold on the streets." You might be happy to know the official name of those tools sounds appropriately horny: stud separators

Tripp

Ordering a soda shaken, not stirred is a strong enough bit that I'm shocked to have never heard/seen it in anything before.

Jake

1:09:25 wow didnt know that bear had a whole train station named after him

NowhereMan661

I'm learning a lot about British history. Why is it so weird and filled with so much bizarre sex shit?

Maria Neptune

yay. also yeah the hanging thing is fuckin crazy. like it's still technically legal actually, just can't be applied because the privy council (which is also crazy, fuck that shit) ruled it inhumane

MatterWiz

Ah, the halcyon days of the 70s, when a royal sex scandal merely involved adults having consensual sex because they wanted to

PokeMaple

I'm surprised nobody mentioned that the sting operation Nova mentioned was actually Operation Countryman, not Motorman, she almost got away with it too but I just had to look it up
