A Return to Form (Blog) (Patreon)

Hey sorry this is a little late. Apparently even though I've been writing to-do lists for months now, they still don't help me to remember shit! But as you can see, it's been a busy so day.

(I don't know what it is about this picture but I just love it! Really sums up the general mood when a shoot is over.)

Quality) The Skylanders: Giants video went up yesterday and I think people are glad we're back to some familiarity. Though it is seriously important to establish that I'm not just the Crash Bandicoot guy or even affiliate with a particular system brand or game genre, I am well aware that people found the channel through specific videos and time periods. Skylanders is kind of a good middle ground I think; it's related to Crash and Spyro, both in characters and genres. But it's also a bit different, something I enjoy exploring just for myself and so far, has presented some different videos in regards to critique vs. my own videos and those from other channels. THAT is why I'm not happy with the Giants video, it's not my best work.

The biggest contributing factor to that is there really wasn't a whole lot to say, not a whole to really work with and production begun a month ago, before I went on a holiday and got sick etc. I had the feeling once I started playing it that it was going to go this way, purely based on the fact that the game wasn't giving me much, I had no creative ideas and most of what could be said was covered in the first Skylanders episode. So I've made it my mission to make sure Swap Force, while still a fairly straight forward video, at least has some kind of interesting critique and a few hopefully memorable moments!

Other Stuff, Gearing up for December) I asked everyone to vote on a topic for December's Top 10 video and within the first hour of making it public, the poll has a runaway winner!

Just to clarify as there was a little confusion, yes, this is going to be a video ranking actual, literal STAINS in video games! Story Time: My dog is getting old and confused. A few months back she wandered into the room and had an accident on the floor. There is now a mark where her pee puddled itself. That is the kind of stuff (from videos games) we'll be featuring on the list so get keen! This video has actually been in development for well over a year at this point.

On from that, I shot 2 testing videos yesterday so giving time to edit them and get ahead, those videos will start showing up again next week following the Swap Force review and the Discussion video the week after. That video needs a desperate re-write at this stage, I'm eager to get Swap Force finished so that I can focus on it. What I said earlier about Quality; the problem with the original script is that, I had creative ideas for skits but on review, they're not worth all of the trouble and effort considering the payoff plus, they don't fit the tone I'm going for with the video itself. TONE, I've been bitching about it all year, I can't 180 and suddenly turn myself into a hypocrite (a bigger one anyway).

Closing Stuff) Wow, a lot to say this week... The next episode of the podcast will be recorded sometime this next week ready for release at the start of December once the majority of payments have processed. We're at that time now when everything is the last thing of 2017: The last podcast episode, the last Top 10, the last discussion, the last reviews, always kind of daunting for myself I must say. Never was good at the end of year game and this year especially, really don't what I'm gonna be coming back to next year which is making it hard to plan for. But, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Thank you for reading (if you made this far, you probably skimmed over but if not, cheers). And of course, I hope you have a great fucking day. Mad love guys!
