Deadlines Approaching! (Blog) (Patreon)

How is everyone doing this week? Things are still underway here, so happy to have a new video up finally and really glad people enjoyed it! I don't know how many more there are going to be between now and Spyro next month but I'm hoping to have 2 more review/discussion videos by then.

PODCAST IS RECORDED AND ON THE WAY, check back later this week!

Hawktober Progress) I'm sure people must be sick of hearing about it so here is the short and sweet of it:

-5/6 scripts are written and revised!
-Shooting will officially begin TOMORROW, I'm hoping to get 2 videos done both at home.
-Weather is interesting, next week I'm hoping to get down to the skatepark to film the 3 videos there. It's been sunny in between raining but when it is sunny, the wind is still a killer...

I'll be taking some money out of the Patreon fund to buy a portable audio recorder and lav mic. While I do have the mounted mic on my camera w/ Dead Cat to help prevent wind noise, it can only do so much. Last year, Day 4 of Hawktober (Project 8) suffered bad from wind noise because I just had no other option. Seeing as it's more windy this year, I think it's best if I just invest in this equipment for safety sake so I can shoot in the more windy conditions. Plus, it's something that'll be used in future projects so I'm looking at it as an investment for the channel to further improve video quality moving forward! :)

Other Shit) I'm hoping to follow the darkness episode with another discussion type video. I just sat down to write it a moment ago, got an introduction down but at this stage, I'm not sure if I have enough to talk about to make a decent episode. The topic is "Vehicle Levels: A Necessary Evil" going over why so many of these levels just don't work, but why they're important regardless. I've got plenty of examples to draw from (we are up to Episode 98 after all) but I'm not entirely sure what I'm trying to get across just yet. I'm pretty hit and miss myself when it comes to writing these types of videos, but they are generally easier to deal with than my normal efforts which is what I need right now having lost 2 weeks and having a heap of other stuff to work on in the background. SO I'm hoping to push forward with that, I don't have the time to beat anything for a normal review so I guess I'll have to make it work.

The episode following that is actually a re-review. Again, it is something I can make fairly quickly and I've wanted to update my thoughts on this particular game for almost 4 years now so... yeah. That's enough spoilers with that! ;)

For reference, that darkness episode was made entirely across like 4 days: Writing, Shooting and then 2 very quick days to edit and honestly, I'm happy with the result. I've said before, just because I can put something out quickly, doesn't mean the quality of the video is going to be greatly affected by that. It's why I'm hoping to do another one soon and then follow up with another short review right after. Having already played the game and having already covered it, it'll be simple to get done alongside the chaos of Tony Hawk. I really... REALLY would like to get a Top 10 up before Spyro but honestly, I don't think I've got the time. 100% of my focus is on Square Eyed Jak episodes and while list videos are half the draw of this channel, it's second fiddle to reviews and such so above all else, they get my attention.

Closing Thoughts) So with that said, fair warning, uploads may be lacking a little over the next few weeks. For the first time in maybe 3 years, the channel's monthly income dipped below $100 which is pretty scary. The fact I was forced to take time off to deal with family stuff and the result is the lowest earning month in years is a sad fact we've got to deal with. I appreciate everyone's ongoing support on here and I promise things will be back to normal real soon. But as always, thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a great fucking day. Cheers guys! :)
