August Update (Blog) (Patreon)

G'day everyone, hope you're all well. Hope the flow of content has been satisfactory for you all! Nice to be getting my mojo back and finding a nice routine to work at. Let me tell you what I've been working on!

Next Square Eyed Jak Episode) I've been playing a huge chunk of games I plan on covering in a single video. It's on a racing series you may or may not be familiar with but it's one I'm passionate about. The video will be longer, script is already up to 12 pages instead of the usual 4-6 most of my videos get up too. I'm nervous about the runtime, Every Level Ranked generally does well but this is something different BUT... if it goes over well, it might open the door to do similar projects like it in the future which is something I'm interested in. Exploring the full history of a series including reviewing all of the games AND alternatives out there! It's been a lot of fun to see where influences leak over and blatant idea theft takes place, for better or worse. Like a mini documentary basically. I had to purchase a few games, still waiting on one more and once I spend an afternoon with it (as it's just an additional extra for the video) then I'll be able to complete my script. ETA: before the end of this month! 🤞

Hawktober 2022!!!) YES it's almost that time of year again, quickly creeping up on me as usual. Last year with only 4 videos, I had already gotten more than half of the videos fully written but with 7 VIDEOS to complete this year... I've only played 2 games so far... 😅
Yeah so you'll understand why there won't be a video going up this week. I'm taking the week to exclusively play skateboarding games and write scripts for Hawktober. The goal is while I work on filming and editing the bigger racing episode, I can have all the games beaten leaving me with the entirety of September to get filming and editing completed. Now I'm fully setup here, that will be incredibly achievable without killing myself in the process for once!

Game Testing and Other Projects) In the meantime around these big projects, expect to see some additional Game Testing episodes and maybe even some other stuff if you're lucky. All depends on how smoothly everything runs from here on out.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: I got a NEW CAMERA!!! 📸

My previous camera has been on it's last legs for the last... 4 years I think...  so yeah it was def time for an upgrade! It's a Panasonic Lumix GH5, very nice camera both for video and photography which is neat. I haven't filmed with it yet but I can tell you from still images alone that videos are going to look a lot nicer moving forward. But also I've been having a major issue with focus!
My old camera has auto-focus as they tend to do which generally isn't great but for a point and shoot, it allows me to get my work done efficiently with very minimal issues. Some of you may have noticed things occasionally being out of focus in videos, either a little bit or MASSIVELY, especially in a handful of Game testing videos. This is because the Auto-Focus is busted and given it was a point and shoot camcorder, it didn't have any robust settings and using MANUAL FOCUS options was impractical as it would mess up other settings on the camera without any way of fixing it. TOTAL HEADFUCK!!!

Well all of that should finally be a thing of the past now as I can set focus manually and be confident the shots will look good. Shoutout to NitroRad for his help on this topic!

Closing Thoughts) That's all the info I have for you this week everyone! Big takeaway is that I'm working hard on several big projects for the channel that will come to light in the next few months.
