Square Eyed Jak DISCORD (Blog) (Patreon)

G'day everyone, hope you are all doing well. Got something new and cool for you all, half of you are already in. I've decided to launch a Discord server for the channel. MORE INFO BELOW!

----------------------------

Discord Sever) This is something that I've been hesitant on for the longest time, given that I'm not super active on Discord. I chat to friends and use it for business stuff but otherwise, I'm inactive on servers. I didn't want to bring everyone in and then not be active in there. However I have in the past year or so been trying to be a little more active in keeping up with things during downtime. PLUS the big factor: Twitter being my primary social media page for posting stuff, getting the channel out there and all that... well I've been a little concerned in the last week with the direction Twitter is going.

All the BS politics shit aside, I just don't like the news that "even posts from people you follow won't show up" which is simply... fucked! So just to try and count-act that being a problem for us all, I decided to pull the trigger and launch the server. I will still be active as normal across all of my social media, just think of the Discord server as a merger of sorts! The more people I can get in one place, the easier it is to reach out and keep people informed.
This decision was also heavily inspired by YouTubes piss poor notification system so even if you're not the type to be super active on Discord either, keep the notifications on the #new videos tab so you can be notified.

So with all of that out of the way, I have added Discord perks to ALL TIERS of pledge here on Patreon. Consider this is replacement for the Podcast I used to offer at the lowest tier, it should be available for everyone! Right now, this simply unlocks a private Patreon channel in the server with a feed for posts here to keep people notified, private text chats and a private voice call.
If people want to jump in and chat OR if I want to hop in for a special event from time to time, that'll be happening there!

GETTING YOUR ACCOUNTS LINKED: So right now, I know some of you are already in but plenty of you are not. The best way to do this is by linking your Discord account to your Patreon account like so:

This should automatically add you to the server under the "Official Patron" role which will give you access to those private channels. Right now the server is still private for the most part just while we make sure things are set up correctly but I will be opening the flood gates very soon with a public link to join. I'm going to stagger this process, first in the comments of the new video this week, then social media later the following week just to ease that process and keep things manageable.

Submissions for moderators will be open soon for anyone interested. I trust Patrons with that role the most as you're the most dedicated and active of my audience.

Moving On... in other news) Alright now that we've gotten all of that out of the way, let me just give you a quick update on how things are going with the channel as we lead up to the end of the year!
I've got a new review dropping tomorrow which is one close to my heart on the topic of lost media and a movie from my youth. I was hoping to have a couple more videos out before the end of the year but after PAX AUS last month, we were sick with a normal flu which knocked me out for about 2 weeks. We had to cancel our holiday plans and reschedule for mid December so unable to work recently and a lost week coming up, I only expect to get one more review episode out. However that episode will be a longer retrospective episode looking at the early days of a massive franchise.

Then this will most likely lead into further reviews of individual games in the New Year which have already been played.

Game Testing will still pop sporadically during this time, in fact you might see it a little more towards the end of 2022/early 2023. In fact I'll be recording an episode with a guest within the next week that we're both really looking forward too which will also include a little game hunting checking out some stores! So look forward to that!

I'd also like to do a few lower energy game room/behind the scenes content to end the year off. Now that my office space is fully completed, I'd like to go through it for a bit of a tour like I've done in the past. Different to my episode building it back in June, it will be a closer look at how things work and flow, also looking at some of what I own. The other thing I'd like to do given my experience on the channel and having upgraded all of my equipment this year, is doing a little bit of a "YouTubers Buying Guide: Beginner - Intermediate" discussing things like cameras, microphones and other stuff I have used and offer suggestions on what some of the best options are.

Closing Thoughts) So yeah that's what's up at the moment guys! DEFINITELY connect your Patreon and Discord accounts so that you can added to the Discord server and start chatting with everyone! I'm excited to see that fill up over the coming weeks and I'll do my best to keep active in there. And I hope you're looking forward to the content coming up on the channel.

Anyway thank you all so much for reading and I hope you have a great fucking day. Cheers guys! 😁
