Dragon Painting Tutorial! (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone!
In this weeks video we will be painting this colourful dragon. This is a really fun painting to create because we can be really experimental with colours as dragons can be anything that we imagine them to be!
It also includes a really easy technique for painting scales which is so much quicker that you'd think.
Materials used:
Liquitex acrylic paints
Colours: phthalocyanine green, titanium white, cadmium yellow medium, yellow oxide, cadmium orange, red oxide, medium magenta, fluorescent pink, quinacridone magenta, brilliant purple, deep violet, prussian blue, light blue permanent, brilliant blue, mars black
(If you don't have these exact colours or are using a different brand of paints then don't worry! just choose similar colours to these 😊)
11 x 14 inch canvas (but any size will work!)
Paintbrushes -
large wide brush (for the background), small/medium flat brush (for the first layer of the dragon), small and medium filbert brushes (for the scales), and a sponge (optional - I used this to create the texture of the background)Heavy body gel medium - this is optional, it allows the paint to dry with a bit more texture and has a glossy finish, but don't worry if you don't have this as it wont make a difference to the way it's painted!
I hope you enjoy this tutorial!
