In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to paint a fun, colourful donut using simple shapes, bright colours and easy layering techniques. This is a really fun subject to paint, and you can try different icing and sprinkle colours to create lots of different donut paintings!

Supplies used:

  • Liquitex acrylic paints: titanium white, light blue permanent, bright green aqua, deep turquoise, prussian blue, naples yellow, yellow oxide, red oxide, burnt umber, quinacridone magenta, medium magenta, pyrolle red, cadmium yellow medium, brilliant purple, deep violet, brilliant blue

  • Paintbrushes: small/medium filbert brushes, small pointed brush and fine detail pointed brush (for the sprinkles)

  • I created this on an 8"x8" page, but any size will work! You may just need to alter your brush sizes if you are working bigger or smaller

  • I've attached a line drawing and two reference images. We are mainly working from the image where the donut has plain icing. The donut with the sprinkles is just a reference for when we add the sprinkles at the end.

I hope you enjoy painting this one 🍩
