A fun Halloween themed painting this week! πŸŽƒ
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to paint a carved pumpkin with a warm, glowing light shining from inside. Creating the glow was especially fun, and I hope you enjoy painting it too!

Supplies used:

  • Liquitex acrylic paints - phthalo blue, burnt umber, red oxide, cadmium orange, primary yellow, cadmium yellow medium, mars black, titanium white

  • Paintbrushes - Large flat (background), small/medium filbert (pumpkin), small/medium pointed (details)

  • I'm working on an 8"x8" square page. But any size canvas will work, you may just need to adjust the brush sizes accordingly

  • Reference image and line drawing attached

I hope you have fun painting it! 🎨

What sketchbook do you use? Also do you gesso it?

This is the one I’m currently using: https://amzn.eu/d/0dHSNqde although I would say that thicker pages would be better as these do still warp a little bit. I gesso them with a thin layer if I’m going to be using a lot of paint, like a full page painting, but not for the smaller paintings 😊

I really like the size of your pad.
